  • Are they helpful in any way? My 2 cents and I do watch them. I don't make them.

I hear what you are saying about testing beyond your use of the knife but i would still use caution as premature metal fatigue can lead to failure when you need it most. Relying on test data of others and carrying a spare are also smart. There is a balance. The key is to test it enough until you are satisfied it is free from manufacturing defects without causing new ones. Nice talk!

+cyclist01222. Yes. Just how I would normally use the knife and a bit extra. The food prep knife I normally don't use for batoning but I will test it in case I loose the tough job knife. The tough job knife just an inch thicker wood maybe and hitting it a bit harder when batoning. Maybe testing the tip a bit. Just to find out if there's no production flaw.
The 'food prep fine task' knife and 'hard use' knife can even be the same make and model but sharpened different. I don't mind a little field sharpening but it's not a hobby of mine and I usually have other stuff to do in the bush.
Besides. I have not seen many people break a knife in the bush but I did see them lose a knife. Thx for watching and atb from Holland
