Thanks to you and your wife for sharing the excellent install video. I installed my Megaware Keel Guard perfectly without any issues.
My pleasure buddy! 👊
Appreciate the upgrade videos. I just bought a new boat and was wanting to put one of these on mine. Thanks and keep them coming
My pleasure buddy! 👊
Getting ready to install mine today! Awesome video instructions thanks!
My pleasure and I appreciate you watching! 👊
I swear you must be a mind reader dude!! I was just researching these. A missing buoy caused me to run aground on Nolin Lake yesterday and bottom out on a sandbar!! Luckily just some scratches tgough!! I am literally going to buy one of these and put it on the new boat as soon as I can!!!
Remember to go through my link if so. Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
@@TackleJunky81 Definitely will!!
@@TackleJunky81 sent you a Messgae. Had a question about it
Best Lake in State of Kentucky love that lake great fishing near Iberia
Nicely done! That's a great looking keel guard!
Thank you brother! 👊
At the point where starting the actual placement of the strip - pull the side cover strips off for a few inches so you have something to grab when you’ve finished the center strip and start the side strips. I pull the side strips off ‘as I go’ and pull only a few inches off at a time, working carefully to get the guard into the ‘valley’ on either side of the center keel strip (the area you showed that takes a little extra work to get good contact).
Amazing product that allows me to ease up onto a concrete ramp to pick my fishing partner up after he/she parks the tow vehicle and trailer!
👊💪
1st thing I need was install a keel shield it works great and helps so much you have no idea how much they help !! good vid bud
I'm glad I decided to put one on. Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
I've debated getting one of these and you doing a video is great timing
I'm glad I decided to put one on. 👊
LOVE YOUR VIDS!!!!!! Keep up the good work
Appreciate you watching! 👊
Great job Jim, looking great! Now you can run into all the rocks and stumps you want lol. Keep up the great tips and advice buddy! 👍
Thank you Tim, but I think I'll still steer clear of the big boulders, lol Appreciate you watching brother! 👊
We appreciate that you literally "had skin in the game" to make us this video. Thanks!
My pleasure and I really appreciate you watching! 👊
Installing on an aluminum boat with that raised keel would be tough compared to a glass boat. Lucky for me my boat came with one installed. It is a must have for any boat. Makes grounding it stress free.
It was a challenge, but I'm glad I decided to put one on. Appreciate you watching buddy!
kinda been on the fence about a guard ,, but that looks really good ,, great job
Thank you Larry! 👊
Turned out Awesome! That stuff is incredible.. I will probably look into something like that on the next boat. As you know.. I need a bigger one! 😄
Thank you brother! With the size of your family you may have to get a pontoon, lol Appreciate you brother! 👊
@@TackleJunky81 Think I need a cruise ship buddy 😂
Man I’m telling you I’m so impressed with you wife . she can fix everything on the computer live stream and work on the boat 🚣♀️ she is a keeper
Agreed 100% brother! 👊💪
Love mine on my ranger...they do work.
For sure! 👊
Thanks Becca for helping him do it right this time 😂👍🏻
🤣🤣🤣
excellent work looks great
Thank you Torrey! 👊
Turned out good! 👍💯
Thank you brother! 👊
Good vid as always
Thank you Steve! 👊
Awesome Teamwork 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thank you brother! 👊
Looks good man, funny that you just put one on it because I ordered the black one with Kevlar in it last week, it’ll be here probably tomorrow 👍🏼
Thank you brother! It's a great addition to any boat! 👊💪
@@TackleJunky81
One more thing man, put you a Fulton F2 winch on it, you’ll love it.
@@19ADAM80 I added one to my Tracker and loved it, so I definitely plan to add one to this Crestliner as well. 👊
Another tip for anyone removing one or replacing one to remove the glue is to use aproduct called orange peel. It desolves the glue without hurting painted surfaces. On fiberglass you can just use lacquer thinner, final step on fiberglass wipe with acetone to remove any residue.
I use a product called super blue. You can't get it in IL anymore, so I have to buy it in MO, but it's the best I've used to remove and type of glue or tar.
Hey thanks for the video. The only bow guards I can find are the stainless ones. Doesn’t gator guard make them in the hard plastic that would match the keel guard?
You did a great job Now come down and put Mine on this summer. hahahaha
Thanks man! No way, my ocd can't handle another install! 🤣
Awsome team work👍, looks fantastic! Now you can let Becca fish from the front of the boat next time you do a challenge!
She earned it, lol Appreciate you watching David! 👊
Did you install a rub rail with insert on both sides or is that just a black rubber strip adhered to the rail? Not sure if it was on a boat when you bought it? I saw the same on your Tracker, it looks nice!
It came stock on both boats.
Did you get the spare tire mount from Lewis or did you get that after the purchase? I need to make sure I have a spare and wondering where I should start. For mount, tire and wheel.
Assuming it came from Crestliner as I ordered it with the boat.
👍👍👍👍👍, great job
Thank you buddy! 👊
I will bring my boat by next week for you to do mine lol
🤣🤣🤣
I don't even have a boat but somehow this video was interesting. I ALWAYS mess stuff like this up, no matter how much i measure
Appreciate you watching Adam! 👊
Awesome video. I know it’s old by now. I hope you ended up sealing up the part that didn’t connect all the way. If you didn’t did you have any issues down the road? A worry would be water getting in there and having no where to get out and sitting there. If in any areas that can freeze it would be the first thing to freeze and can expand and push the guard away from the hull, allowing more water to sit there. Even if it’s stored in a garage all the time, if your in a cold area, it may freeze just going to and from the water if it’s cold enough.
Taking a pair of pliers and squeezing it right there to sit it on the hull better might have closed the gap better. Just trying to think outside the box if anyone see this in the future.
I sealed the ends and haven't had any issues. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching! 👊
6 P’s Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Good job Jim. Thanks for sharing 🎣
Thats a good phrase to live by! Appreciate you watching buddy! 👊
Looks great! Best way to do, have the wife do it!
Thanks man! 👊
I have to remove my old keelguard. Any recommendation on how to remove it? What product to use to remove the glue?
Once you pull it off I heard using a pressure washer with take some of it off, but for the glue I used Super Blue.
Had no idea a keel shield would work on a crest liner aluminum. Would it work on a rt 188?
I honestly don't know, but I'd imagine it would.
My keel already has damage from being beaches over and over. The gelcoat ihas been scrapped off. No dings. Just scratched. My question is can this be applied or should I apply gelcoat first? My concern is that if I apply a layer of gelcoat, the keel guard may eventually peel off that new layer.
I honestly don't know, but I think you'd be fine to apply it as is.
Fill any scratches with resin ( poly/ epoxy ) mixed with your preferred filler...I use polyester resin and qcel.... sand.... then flowcoat the repair....... once cured, scuff / lightly sand the flowcoat ....and use acetone to remove any wax from the flowcoat ....then use keel guard ...If your flowcoat peels off you have bigger problems...flowcoat is basically your resin:hardener plus colour plus wax.... paint will come off much easier than flow coat
This is off topic but have you ever thought About reviewing a kastking reel
I haven't, but I'm sure I could down the road.
It's nice that she actually did the most important part of the hole job
An it was free so u going to get as much as they would give u ,get ur money worth ,I would too 👍
Who's going yo see it anyways ,FISH ,turtles, scub divers
I wish I would've known you wanted to show the install of one of these, I have Megaware Keelguard (yea, I know, different brand) to install on a '87 Skeeter Strada. I'm just down the road from you. You could've saved your hands, bass thumb is much better !
Oh, lake " X " is having a cleanup day on April 24th.
I agree, lol I should be hitting lake X in the next week or so.
She’s the best lol. Good wife
💯
What exactly is that for???
To protect the keel.
@@rlsmith29 oh ok
is it still on?
💯
was always told those won't stick to aluminum.
@@wesleymarkham3343 no issues here...looks as good as the day I put it on.
Lol, so worried about the rigging scuffing the paint, he pretty much puts a large chunk of sand paper right next to it.
Made your wife do it!
Why are you wasting her time? Don't you know she has a garden to start? Lol
🤣 Good point! I'm sure I'll have to till the garden now!
