آواز فلسطین

My heart has no sweet songs to sing
For it is full of grief for Palestine
I cry blood with every tear
Spellbound by the beauty of Palestine
If you see me laugh and smile
Know that my joy hides many pains
Like the wine-cup, I keep my blood within
I am from the vineyards of Palestine
The martyrs' shrouds are cleaner with blood
In that sacred blood I must bathe my body
To be truly pure like the serene soul of Palestine
Why am I in blood, and yet joyful?
Why am I in chains, yet free?
I am not a willow, I am not wind
I am the people of Palestine
This world is fleeting, God is Everlasting
Nothing remains but the sweet pains of love
I have no love for this lower world
I am in the skies of Palestine
Though I am in a well, like Joseph
I can see the Heavens above me
and my heart, like the eyes of Jacob
is shedding tears for Palestine
I am like the shirt of Joseph
Smeared with blood, by deceitful brethren
Torn by the tongues of slanderers
Like my heart, which is torn for Palestine
Where is the shirt of peace and fairness
Which restored the sight of Jacob?
When will the fish of the ponds
Return to the ocean, to Palestine?

نیاید شعر تر از من، که غمناک فلسطینم
میان اشک خون گریم، که چالاک فلسطینم
چو‌‌ بینی شاد و خندانم، بدان غمهاست در جانم
من آن جامِ شرابستم که از تاک فلسطینم
شهیدان را کفن پرخون، سپیدی‌ها کند افزون
به خون زنگار تن شویم، به جانْ پاکِ فلسطینم
چرا در خونم و شادم، چرا در بند و آزادم
نه من بیدم، نه من بادم، که من خاک فلسطینم
جهان فانیست حق باقی، چه ماند؟ درد مشتاقی
نه مهر این جهان دارم، در افلاک فلسطینم
چو یوسف گرچه در چاهم، ازان افلاک آگاهم
دلم چون چشم یعقوبیست، نمناک فلسطینم
قمیص یوسفی‌رنگم، چنین پرخون ز نیرنگم
ز تهمت می‌درانندم، چنین چاک فلسطینم
کجا پیراهن صلحی، کزو یعقوب‌ شد بینا؟
ز حوضی سوی بحر آیند اسماک فلسطینم؟
