  • This video goes through the process of my parents and I making a huge paper mache jungle tree! This tree is completely solid and is made to be a staircase into a loft. This was my first 3D project and it turned out better than I imagined. I hope this documentary and tutorial helps expand your imagination on what can be done with this awesome medium!

      To see a lady making a treehouse dollhouse, check out Where The Gnomes Live channel. She's making a forest in her craft room but it's taking a bit longer for what she's doing. Thus video gives me ideas though, like that if I want a treehouse, I could bring the tree inside rather than the house outside

    What a great way to bring the outdoors inside. I love that it's a stairway to a loft. In my mind, I want you to put a little door on the opening that looks like one of the doors on the trees in nightmare before Christmas, like the tree or pumpkin, or turkey. Maybe you could switch it out for different seasons.

    • @EmilysArtStudio
      @EmilysArtStudio  11 месяцев назад +1

      I'm glad you liked it. The tree is still in great condition! Every year or so I touch up paint where the plaster gets nicked and chipped occasionally. Theses are all really small chips though and after they are painted blend right into the texture of the tree. Save paint colors for this! I would also recommend putting down some plaster mesh where the tree meets and blends into the wall if you dont want the plaster to crack along this area. This happened to us! But it still looks okay. I think this is largely due to the wall also having a lot of texture, so all I had to do was paint the wall color along the crack to make the separation look more natural.

    This is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. I am making one of my own in my living room and currently am at the joint compound smearing part. I do have a question tho, did you add any type of sealant/primer on it? And how well is it holding over time? Thanks !

    • @EmilysArtStudio
      @EmilysArtStudio  3 месяца назад +1

      I didn't add any primer or sealant, but I don't think it would hurt to. The tree is also is holding up quite well. It gets a lot of use so every year or so I have to touch up a few places where the plaster gets nicked, but its not a huge deal. Just save a little bit of paint for that. I would also suggest putting down some mesh where the tree meets the wall. The plaster cracked along that area. Hope this helps! Good luck on your project!

    What do you do about dust ? How do you keep this clean and how much did the entire project cost?

    • @EmilysArtStudio
      @EmilysArtStudio  2 года назад

      The tree doesn't gather very much dust. I think this is due to the leaves and branches being so far up in the air that it's not it in an area that dust can reach when it gets turned up from sweeping an other things. We haven't had to clean the tree yet, and it still looks about the same. The supplies for the tree cost around 3,000 dollars.

Basic supplies would be plywood, two by fours, nail gun, staple gun, saw, ladder, chicken wire, branches, masking tape, shop towels, Elmer's glue all, joint compound, water, 5 gallon containers, 1 gallon containers, disposable gloves, rolls of paper, wire, acrylic paint, paint brush, caulk, screw driver, clippers, fake leaves and vines, and rope.
