There are owners who are unable to brush their cat. When Fred first came to me, it was 10 years ago. Extremely matted, he doen´t let the owner brush him, because he bite and scratch. The owner and I both know he gets too stressed to shave. But unfortunately, clipping is the best option for him. We try to do it as quickly as possible. It's 10 minutes on the body part. He still always lets me groom his face with the scissors. Fred's owner is very careful, she has two or three other cats that let her brush their fur, so that's why she never brought them to groom. She always brings only Fred, who has this different behavior. She talks and gives Fred a lot of affection and is kind to him throughout the grooming. She loves her cat very much, one of the greatest lovers between owners and cats that I know. Unfortunately Fred is not very well behaved, he doesn't let her put the muzzle on, he bites the owner. We also tried to use another muzzle, the more open one, but Fred could bite everyone and often tries to get the muzzle off with his paws and ends up hurting himself. In these cases, when the cat behaves like this, having this protection more closed helps the clipping to be safer, because neither the groomer nor the cat gets hurt and the boby clipping can be done in much less time.

I figured that what was going on. I'm so glad they care about him to do this for him. Even if he not thrilled about it at all. Some cats just don't like being brushed out. What you do?!
Towards the end, you can tell he reasoned "well, if they were going to kill me, they'd have done it by now." And he becomes calmer.

He hates it but he loves it. 🙃 Hates being held down, loves the rubbing\petting parts.
Cats hunker and protect their stomach when terrified and just hope to withstand any damage, but their stomach is their weak spot. He wants to run.

You can tell he loves getting his face groomed his legs not so much but he def melted when they started brushing and clipping his cheek fur such a sweet kitty and came out handsome

I agree and disagree with some comments.
There is a purpose for this muzzle. But ultimately the choices are; leave the cat alone and have it become matted beyond belief which in turn makes you the owner look like a neglectful asshole OR bring it in for a temporary discomfort (yes it was stressed) to actually have a healthier lifestyle free of ticks, fleas, maggots and other bacteria that can sprout inside poorly kept hair/fur.
Sometimes as companions, we need to make a choice even if it looks "terrible".
I dont condone abuse toward any animal, but neglecting their care is also a form of abuse that can lead to many health risks for the animal as they age.

Beautiful cat!! Although it is never a good idea to remove all their fur. Cats' skin is super sensitive. Not to mention, when they bathe themselves (licking their fur), it is an important, calming psychological thing for them.
It’s okay to shave the cat when they are matted. Cats do not bathe themselves, yes they lick themselves, which causes them to ingest a lot of hair - if not bathed regularly to remove the lose fur - which causes hairballs & licking themselves creates dander. So cats licking themselves is no way them cleaning themselves.
Whoever invented the astronaugh muzzle should be given a Nobel Prize for Innovation. Flipping genius. And probably sporting a fair few war wounds gained during the creation process, too.
I support and use the space helmet. After many bites, which I bled from each one I heartily endorse this helmet!! 👍👍 🐈

I don't groom cats but the astronaut muzzle really is a brilliant tool.

I'm glad my cat loves getting her hair done. She just lays back and lets the groomer do their thing. Then when she gets home, she struts around like she's showing off and looking for attention.

You really know your business! Step one trim claws to reduce scratching threat. Step two start trimming until Fred starts biting. Step 3 "Ball of Shame" and finish clipping. Step 4 remove the ball and Fred resigns himself to the final trim and seems to actually enjoy it. Great job and nice new look Fred!
@@dragoncup9099 its not declawed. The tips of his nails were trimmed, much like how people trim their nails if they get long. If it's not done regularly their nails can curv into the pads of their feet. Ive seen this a few times over the years in grooming cats. They may not like it, but its for their own good long term.

when a cat's whiskers fan out and go forwards, it doesn't mean he's happy. it means he's fearful, anxious or stressed.

Honestly, I am having an anxiety attack watching ypu do this. You are very good at your job and that cat looked so good after his groom! I'm sure he feels better too!
I usually train the kittens early by grooming them myself frequently. Big Billy used to purr with his tail up when I gave him a shower. His Brother Dean is well behaved too but he crys like I am killing him in the shower...
Even Fred has to admit that just feels so darn good!
I used to groom cats. It’s a very hard job and you have to work quick. They were so gentle and did everything right! This was great

Desculpe, mas não é preguiça da cuidadora. Pelo idioma falado no vídeo, percebe-se que esse gato vive no Brasil, país muito quente para gatos de pelagem longa. Eles sofrem bastante com o calor no verão. Assim, muitos cuidadores tosam cães e gatos de pelo longo nessa época do ano.
Entretanto, concordo que a tosa foi radical. Poderia ter deixado o pelo do gatinho um pouquinho maior.

I always love how cats seem to eventually surrender to their fate and accept it then the spirits of their ancestors tell them to fight and they get right back to it.

I had a blue siamese who lived to be nearly 20. She loved getting in the tub for her bath and sat on the toilet seat while I blew her dry with the hair dryer. Best cat ever!
My cat will do everything but the bath, she's only had one because of getting into something very stinky but you would swear we were trying to murder her. There is no strength in the world to get her to hold still for a bath.
You must miss her dearly. My Diablo is going on 12yo. It's just the two of us-- father and son. I honestly don't know how I would cope without him.

@@RB-tn7ns true, but the stories of what happens to your pets if you die first can be horrible. i found one of my former cat grooms at the shelter after his mom died and her fam just...didn't want him? he was so scared and it was only when he came out of his shell recognizing me that i hooked him up with a family who could see how sweet he was.

I used to own a Himmy. Sweet kitty. He was about 10 weeks old. From the time I bought him home, I brought a brush & comb. At least every other day I kept him groomed! He would let me lay him upside down on my lap. And I was able to keep up his coat brushing & combing.
Right! I'm sure he appreciated the care you gave him. Himmies would rather be brushed calmly and regularly than left to mat and clipped like a poodle.
I had a Himmy lady who thought her job was to get brushed, petted, and look good on my bed! She was just the sweetest despite the grumpy face.

My Mom had a cat like that with long hair needing groomed and she said the groomer had a hard time with her cat. Now I know why the cat was so evil and mad all the time as its like torture to some. My Mom did comb the cat and that worked to but it did need a shave once in a while due to the matted hair.

Скорее всего он просто не хотел чтобы его обстругали до голой кожи и отбирали всю тёплую шерсть. Кота сделали лысым, считай что голым. Хорошо хоть что с головы не стали сбривать шерсть. Коту теперь будет холодно. Понятно почему морда такая была угрюмая. Я бы тоже был бы против чтобы меня так стригли. Ногти не в счёт, это необходимо.

Шерсть конечно отрастет, может котику и лучше, что ее подстригли, если у них жарко, хотя шерсть кошек именно от жары и защищает кожу больше чем от холода.
Он был в шоке от этой кастрюли, что надели на голову🤦 могли бы просто воротник специальный одеть, а не эту хрень..... Такой стресс и дышать очень тяжело, хоть и дырки есть

Самый большой стресс у мастера. Находится в постоянном напряжении. Молодец, расправляется, как повар с картошкой. Настоящий мастер, а кот обрастёт.

Тебе надеть на голову аквариум, что бы ты водой надышался, связать по рукам и ногам путами тугими, и делать тебе настолько неприятные штуки, что ты бы орал в голосину. А потом сказать: ну, самый большой стресс был у мастера.

This is done so kindly. I had this experience as a kid with our family dog. He hated being groomed. For our pet, we chose one that didn't require grooming at all. I can't stand the thought of going through that again.
Poor Fred Kitty doesn't want to come out of the carrier.
I rescued a Persian Cat [she was over a yr old] in 1983, shaved by 1985, she didn't like being brushed the previous didn't brush her during kittenhood, it was her only lion cut. She did look adorable and she was happy to be shaved after the mats by her legs/ torso. I learned how to carefully cut into any mats [out away from her skin] which started to form, and she learned brushing wasn't so bad after all.
I think the holes in that helmet could stand to be bigger or more holes, Persians already have flat faces making breathing less than optimal.
Now let's give him a bath... I'll bet he would just love that! 😂🤣

This is exactly what my cat does whenever we try to brush her and so because she is very fluffy too she ends up with awful matts which really pull and make her skin sore. We have no choice but to pin her down and shave the matts out but she is like a wild beast (although we usually come off worse)! Even the vets struggle with her and have to fully sedate her to dematt (now she’s older I try to avoid due to the risks of anaesthesia but I do worry about how stressed she gets when we do it our selves). We definitely need a cat space helmet (and maybe some chain metal armour for us)!!

my cat is 12 almost 13 and this is exactly how he's been with brushing, nail clipping ect. he scared the nurses so much they kicked him out and the groomer couldn't handle this 13 pound fur ball 🤣 so now he's matted, I gotta buy him a astronaut helmet
What the problem with matt ? A lot of cats are not groomed and their fur is ok or in time wool is shedding
Stop getting cats that are bred just for that look. Cats with such problems only exist because of breeding.

I had a Napoleon cat named Clarence that was just as bad as Fred. He had to have the Astronaut helmet also. But I have a Davey the Norwegian Forest cat who rolls on his back at the groomers that can't wait to have his hair cut-off. He is so easy that the groomer is always happy to see him. He has a gold star on his haircut chart. He even loves the oatmeal bath they give him.
