Anything on digimon card game, digimon world next order, or why digimon games have mixed post game content, would be cool. It a mystery to me how the balance it all. Saving the cooler stuff till after it matters leaves one saying" wouldn't be cooler if." Just pulled punches and the post game super boss challenge as an empty duel on a check list above get groceries.they've had a few Old school jrpg style games and it has not been total misses they were not home runs either. What holds each game back or maybe the flip side, what the did good each game would be cool to see. Maybe a class system for the jrpg ones base one type and something else like physical/magic or family or level and the limiter be rookie, champion ect.. all of them could use a go faster button too. A run or actually fast forwarding. Loved the videos so far man. Hope this helps with ideas and good luck. 👍

This reminds me about a pokemon dokumentary from the 90s in Germany.
The camera team was either filming at Nintendo-hotline or at a Strategy guide hotline.
A Boy said he cannot find Mew, But he already did fight the elite 4 100 Times and more.
The Strategy Guide dude just replied over the phone "Oh well, I think you havent tried hard enough if Mew did not appear yet, you need to put more effort into it like an actual Pokemon Trainer!"
[All while paying lots of money to call there to begin with]
Or some other Strategy Booklets that got distributed here also just had blatant false information in them

Crazy shenanigans between japanese and international versions were very common back in the day when Internet didn't exist to verify informations. That's how many legends were created.
I excuse more the English guide for being misinformed than if it would straight up lie based on nothing.
It has attenuating circumstances to escape the Gulag at least.
By the way, I remember similar shenanigans with two Godzilla games. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee on GameCube features the logo of Hedorah and Mothra on the back cover as to indicate they're playable characters like the others when they're just hazards and for Godzilla Unleashed on PS2, some monsters are only unlockable in the Wii version of the game such as Biollante and Krystalak when you can see this last one on a picture on the back cover of the pS2 version of the game if I remember correctly.

If the kimeramon was originally obtainable and the only thing done to block access to it was remove playstation pocket functionality. Then it IS possible people may have stumbled on it accidently by doing a particular sequence of steps, similar to the gen one mew glitch in pokemon. Though I'm sure you're thinking, kimeramon was a givaway digimon, so it shouldn't have encounter data, (so was mew as well) but this is where Tera domain comes in. It's possible that, like people thought, this IS where you were gonna encounter it, but the developers ran out of time to finish making the event, but since they had finished the digimon, they just gave it away as a Pocket reward, but left the encounter data, the domain, and the mission indicator in the game. Jijimon might have been part of the event too, but that's speculation. So, it's possible, with the right sequence of glitches, rng manipulation, and a few other various factors, (likely unintentionally) kids might have hit the trigger for it to spawn. And before you say this game is so old, people would've found everything by now. Speed runners are still finding new glitches for Zelda OOT, mario 64, ect. So it wouldn't surprise me if there's something like that for this game, and no one has figured it out yet. That may be what MetalKid is trying to do, find the right sequence of steps to hit the right trigger. This isn't the first time I've heard of such a thing. And here's the interesting part, these lost content access mysteries CAN take decades to solve, even nowadays.

The mode that was scrapped from the japanese version is called D-1 Grand Prix, and is named after the old Digimon virtual pet tournaments. What you do in this mode is essentially a V-pet battle, where you could connect to a Wonderswan Digimon game (And probably the PocketStation too) and battle with Digimon you raised in those games, possible even DIgimon from V-pets themselves, since I'm pretty sure those games were compatible with that.
As for the animations, they're actually from Pocket Digimon World. As mentioned in the video, you could raise Digimon in Pocket Station then transfer to DMW2, however the game that was bound to that system was the Pocket Digimon World, which had 3 versions that sorta served as expansions. The idea was raise you Digimon in the Pocket Station like a V-pet, then bring it to PDW to battle in a Pokémon Stadium-like game. The game only worked with the Pocket Station, so it was never released outside Japan.
Those animations were indeed later reused for the PS1 card games, however.

I don't know if you figured it out eventually (I'm still watching the video) or if somebody already mentioned it in the comments, but the reason why you were getting those "something feels strange" messages on those certain floors in Data domain is because there were mini boss fights on those floors when the main mission was still active. A number of tamers from the city were confused by the gekomon and you had to defeat them upon encountering their digibeetles in order to rescue them. That's really the only reason why those messages keep coming up afterwards. I consider myself kind of an expert on this game in particular. Have probably played through it over 20 times in my life. I'm actually about to go through Tera domain again on my current playthrough! I love it, and I love your videos!

Just stumbled onto this video, and while it's not about Kimeramon -
When you started talking about Omnimon, Diaboromon, and Baihumon, it reminded me of when I was at my dad's a few years ago and playing this game. I found a Baihumon, and I threw a few items at it, and he and I were debating about "what type move" I should use to defeat it.
I ended up using a Virus type move after a few minutes of pondering, and I was so SHOOK when the game said it wanted to join my party. Mostly because even my father, who i considered a Digimon PS1 games guru due to how he'd write notebooks full of the Digimon he raised and how he raised them - had never caught any of those three Tera Domain Digimon.

  • @LagunaFox
    @LagunaFox 2 месяца назад +8

Man this takes me back, I remember talking about all the different theories on Gamefaqs back in the day and I spent a lot of time myself looking into all this. Ultimately what I remember is that as a community we came to a few different conclusions. First of all several people have gone through the code with a fine toothed comb looking for multiple things that would indicate Kimeramon is there. Obviously his data is there, a gameshark is all you need to find that out, however a key piece of the puzzle that was missing is that Kimeramon is no where to be found on the games wild encounter table. Basically every encounter you have in the game is pulled from that table of information, so if Kimeramon isn't there, you can't encounter him. That is kind of the definitive smoking gun that you can't encounter him through any normal means. Even boss digimon are on that encounter table.
That being said, there are some odd things still in the code. I remember hearing about some unused lines of dialogue (none of which mentions Kimeramon), and in fact there are several groups of digimon in the encounter table that don't appear in the game normally, some of which include digimon that also don't appear in the game normally. Those are pretty much re-colored versions with different names that were digimon that ultimately got cut from the game. Of course you can patch the game to force those encounters to spawn. However that combined with several other odd bugs and glitches that only seem to exist in the world wide release of the game rather than the Japanese version made me wonder about something.
In the Japanese version, all of these problems go away because you can get these digimon using the Pocketstation. The game was designed to use Pocketstation, which sadly never took off outside of Japan. I always wondered if part of the localization process for releasing the game to the world outside of Japan also originally had a plan in place to create a way for the Pocketstation content to be obtained in game via post game content that never was part of the original Japanese version. Unfortunately it seems as though the idea was either shut down or never given time to finish. Terra Domain itself is a clear indicator of that given it has an orange outline indicating a mission and yet there is no trigger for the mission itself nor is there a trigger to complete the mission and return the outline to green. Sadly all the people involved in the game have almost certainly long since moved on to other companies or retired, we will never know the full story of what went down during the development of the game. But yea my personal theory is that there was some kind of attempt to give the rest of the world some extra content to get the Pocketstation digimon but it just never being developed enough to be released.

Would be interesting if you needed the Machindramon you trade for in your party and/or defeat every enemy in each floor. Old school games often had ridiculous requirements (even glitches) for secret Bosses and items.
Ex.) In Megaman X, after obtaining every power-up/sub item, if you killed yourself 7 times at the pit right before you'd get to Armored Armadillo's room on his stage. After the 6-7th time, the capsule with Dr. Light wearing Ryu's gi (from Street Fighter) will appear above the Boss Room on a cliff after the pit. It gives you the Hadouken when you're at full health by doing Quarter-Circle Forward + Attack which kills any enemy, including Bosses, with one hit.

I also read a thread where someone named Metalkid said he spent almost a decade trying to find Kimeramon because he remembered doing some "quest" in his childhood. I knew that Digimon World 1 had some rookie digimon that were only obtainable in events; so my first thought was that Kimeramon would have been an event thing, and that would explain the in-game files.
But still, it's incredibly curious that Tera keeps the 'active mission' highlight forever, and it has no boss in it (though every other Digimon game is almost infamous for how long their post game stuff is).
It is also incredibly weird that Jijimon becomes missing at that point in the game.
Now, I'm incredibly aware that this game was probably datamined a few hundred times already, but have people actually checked the post game in the PAL and JP versions? I can see a world where there is extra content in the game without events that actually explain some of the weird set ups (though they don't necessarily would have to do with Kimeramon)
I think the reason why Kimeramon is such a good mystery for this is because it just *makes sense*. Kimeramon had a spotlight in Digimon Adventure 2, Kimeramon is the perfect corruption of what a Jogress should be, Kimeramon is related to Mugendramon and Milleniummon which are both final and secret bosses of other games (and even jogresses with them). Not having Kimeramon be a final boss in this game is honestly a missed opportunity.
There are some games that will never get a remake/remaster/reboot treatment, and Digimon World 2 is one of them that I think about a lot and it really makes me sad. This game would be amazing in hardware that could actually do fast loadings and not tank the battles frame rates, and just need to overhaul its menu system for quality of life (so it doesn't take 1 hour to do anything). If DW2 ever got the Re:Digitize or Next Order treatment, it could actually be an extremely fun and replayable dungeon crawler.

There is some rng and the whole point was a super long what if quest. Thought I remember it being there but maybe it was a created memory instead of a real memory. The feeling of" its there and somebody else can do it cause this is a hell not worth repeating" was tempered more then. Also not more than lv 2 on its heart/friend thing. It's cool to see how different an approach to this mystery can get - you said you felt bad about using save states to test theories. Meanwhile, when I tried finding Kimeramon the first thing I did was exploring game memory and hacking collisions to check if you can go past Leomon in the colliseum. Fun if fruitless endeavor, I think nowadays there's no doubt about it being a semi-cut pocketstation content.

I mean, I feel like that's still the case for Digimon games. It's been 8 years since Next Order first released and there's still _zero_ information online on how enemy stats relate to their stage and level, or how the game determines _which_ stats to buff at the end of battle, or really, _any_ of the internal mechanics that aren't explained to you through in-game dialogue.

What are the chances that some people might've come across a glitch or some form of unintentional arbitrary code execution that lead to Kimeramon spawning as a wild digimon? Since Kimeramon already exists within the game's code it shouldn't be impossible for the game to screw up and for it to end up getting added to the domain spawn pool, right?

Only non official game magazines often got their information from internet forums, which was usually the main reason why certain rumors would become strong and spread like crazy. Official game guides were fine from what I know.
When shiny hunters try, they think they know they'll eventually find a shiny. But some pokemon are shiny locked, which means there is actually zero chance for them to be shiny. Trying wrongly thinking there is a chance might be worse than not being sure.
So yeah, the explanation of the differences between both versions and the English version of the guide translating the info when it was only valid for the japanese version makes more sense to me than the official guide just lying.

It is worth noting, it is likely a few of the people who have seen Kimeramon in any location are not lying.
As you acknowledge Kimeramon's data, model, ect are all in the game in a playable state. So if something akin to the MissingNo glitch involving temporary memory happened it could happen. Given the game needs to do something to know what spawns are even a slight bit of dust, scratch, or luck could lead to pulling the wrong information.
This is why physical media is so cool, these stories aren't always lies rather extreme luck, sometimes you'll get access to cool things you were never meant to.

I assume at this point, that people claiming to have had something this elusive in videogames long ago aren't necessarily lying, but rather falling for false memories. For example, I am certain I once triggered a hidden message made out of Icognito when booting up my Crystal version (I actually beat the E4 hundreds of times in that game) but because I've never been able to replicate this, I can't be sure it actually happened. I also broke of part of a tea pot of mine, but because I told different (less embarrassing) versions of the story, I have multiple vivid memories of how it happened, knowing most of them are likely not real.
The downloadable content only in Japan theory honestly feels the most likely (confirmed?) way, especially given how the same was done in World 1 with Weregarurumon.

I ended up becoming the most hated kid at my school among the Pokémon kids. Among us, I was the one that discovered that you could Rare Candy Pokémon found along Cinnibar, with the MNo. glitch, that are over Lv. 100 to Lv. 255. Not only that, but I had eventually found it with a name that results in Mewtwo being an encounter.
First battle with that team resulted in mixed reactions. Many thought I cheated it and secretly had a GameShark. It wasn't until the only kid that did have one said that there wasn't any codes for going over Lv. 100 (there isn't, as far as I am aware). So, I told them, all to have to do is use Rare Candies. I *_didn't_* tell them about how your Name affects what shows up, so they were still a little angry I didn't tell them how to get the Mewtwo's, specifically. If I remember correctly, though, the name is David or DAVID. It is case senitive.
The best part was winning cards in bets from battles. Over the years, I won dozens of various Blastoise cards from playing people in Red/Blue battles.
Years later, I even obtained a glitched Arcanine that evolved from a Raichu, using a Fire Stone, that evolved from a Pikachu when I was walking out of Pewter City, after beating Brock (and no way to access a Thunderstone). To this day, I have no idea what happened with that, but I have 3 hypotheses.
The first, is I somehow, unwittingly, used ACE. I doubt this one myself. I don't know a lot about ACE, but what little I do, it usually results some in screwed up sprites and maps. None of thay occurred.
The second is The Mew Glitch, or something like it. I lean way more towards this being the answer and, possibly, an undocumented glitch itself. The unfortunate thing is, I don't remember much about the set up. All I can remember is I took Squirtle or Bulbasaur. I had 5 Pokémon when I beat Brock and Pikachu was in the last slot, between Lv. 4-7 (caught at Lv. 3). When I was leaving Pewter, I passed above the PokéMart using the tile line along the back of Brock's gym, towards Mt. Moon. "What? Pikachu is evolving!" I used TM24 to teach the Raichu Thunderbolt and moved on.
When I got to Celadon, I immediately when and got Eevee, then straight to the Mart to get a Fire Stone, as Flareon was the last one I needed for a Living PokéDex on Stadium. When I went to use it though, Raichu had "ABLE" next to its name.
And that's all I can remember about the Wrong Evolution Glitch I encountered.

DW1 was such a pain because you couldn't even GO anywhere until your Partner was a Champion at least so you could do anything useful. At least with DW2 you could still venture out with your Rookies and catch extra Digimon to use as merge fuel later, collect items and such... the Rookies would actually be strong enough to hold their own together as a 3 compared to the single stronger Rookie in DW1 who would still be in danger from a lot of Wild Ones!
Heck, even as annoying as the Levelling system was at least the resulting new Digimon would be noticeably stronger each time!

I just called him to know if he reminds ever getting Kimeramon, but he answered to never did but seen on RUclips to be obtainable on Tera Domain (which means hes been hoaxed as well), but he didn't remember the hand of GAIA fusion as well.
Maybe If we understand how DNA fusions and evolutions works on Digimon World 2, maybe we can find a legitimate way to reverse engineer into it.

I do vaguely remember that I had Kimeramon as I used in the battle mode against my friends. However my game version was in Russian so it may be a pirated version witch would explain why I had access to it, also I still have my memory card with the save file, but my ps1 is broke long time ago. I still probably have the game somewhere in the attic too.

Huh, that is interesting! I haven't heard of any changes between the different versions of the game 🤔. Maybe it was a mod of some sort?

@@CrystalPapa Not sure, maybe. Few other games I noticed had differences too. Some that I still remember like in Tomb Raider 1 in the 3d level instead of dinos I had crocs and in Vigilante 8 2nd offense some stage events did not trigger and the special attacks did not work at all.

I like to think MetalKid was on to something with Jijimon. However, I believe that it was intentionally left open for planned expansion, but was left unfinished. Digimon World 2 felt like it dragged on way longer than it needed to anyway. Not helped at all by the constant loading (Thanks Duckstation for allowing us to cut those way shorter).
Many games get cut short due to deadlines, funding, staffing problems etc... Or the modern solution, push out the incomplete and/or broken product anyway! Day 1 patch will fix it...

11:18 ok the pal ver was the last to be worked on. The ps2 had already come out. This was bandai's try to get a little bit more out of dw3 knowing that they would have to work on a bigger digimon project in the future. Even though we got dw/evolution/4. Let's be real.

Hello there, first of all, awesome video! So... i know this may sound ridiculous but im pretty sure i actually caught Kimeramon in Tera Domain in actual hardware, but he wasnt in the last floor, im pretty sure he was in the second to last floor, floor 98, he was alone, so the toy planes were pretty powerful on him, my memory is hazy as it was a long time ago, but if you still have the save state, would you be able to try? fell free to ignore this, and thank you.

@@CrystalPapa Im so sorry 😭 i was so long ago, but i vaguely remember that i found him in a large rectangular room and i remember being so happy that i caught him as it was the last digimon that i knew to exist. I know it must sound like im making it up, but when i heard you say that there was no proof of him being in Tera Domain, it gave me such a whiplash, i was like "am i crazy?". Anyways, i will keep enjoying your videos, best of lucks!

So I admit I cannot read the text around the 13 minute mark, but Given the sprites I'm seeing, the animations and everything I'm 95% sure that's digimon card battle footage. More likely to be a teaser trailer or something.

Has anyone tried pressing the square button to see if anything would appear? Normally pressing square activates the "capture" mode, so if there is a Digimon, even if invisible, its status and location may appear, who knows, maybe throw a toy plane to try to catch it.
When I played I didn't care about Tera Domain, I thought there was nothing there, but I certainly would have checked if I had known about this rumor.
