Composed by a teenager! It follows the form of the Liszt B Minor sonata, and adds a fugal cadenza that is frankly atonal, and then a triumphant coda that reminds me of the end of Scriabin's "Divine Poem". Why isn't this played more often in concerts? Have many concert pianists tried to read it or learn it?
The piano writing often reminds one of Brahms (more than Liszt) but there are ideas that Amy Beach apparently used in her piano concerto (another unknown masterpiece). The "big tune" at the end is the logical evolution of the second subject, but the effect (and suddenness of it) reminds one of the triumphant end of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #2. I'm sure Rachmaninoff must have been familiar with this work. We often underestimate what some teenagers can accomplish (even today).
Bravo bravo bravo super super super wow wow wow brilliance fantastic music concerto
Absolutely stunning, especially that second movement! I can't believe I'm just now discovering this gem! 😍

Hermoso. Muy romántico.
Marvelous work. Thanks for uploading!
I love how RUclips changed „mäßig“ to „massig“ (the latter meaning bulky)
When will we see somebody playing this amazing concerto?
