Thank you for the review. After extensive online searching, reading reviews and comparing I ended up buying one of these units. I've got to say that for the price this is truly excellent. The audio quality is on another league compared to the godawful Mooer GE-100 which I also have. The amount of effects , the software functionality, the audio quality are all very good. My only gripe is that I can not have two of the same type of pedal, i.e. I can not use two modulation pedals at the same time. But at this price point I am willing to accept it.
You are welcome and thank you so much for sharing your experience and your findings! Yes, typically in this price range, no unit offers the possibility to load many instances of the same effect in the chain. Thank you!
@@LeoGibsonGtrOne notable exception is the Zoom G1(X) four which allows any combination of any type of pedal for up to 5 in total. I rejected it due to offering less overall pedals, the serious limitation in computing power and the quality of the effects which seemed to be lower than the Valeton's. I love Flanger in particular and the Valeton's sounded better in various reviews I saw/listened to.
Thanks a lot for this review! And personally, thanks for maxing the MIX in the reverb for us to see if it can go full wet on the reverbs. It's all I've been looking for around the internet, to see if this stomp box would work for shoegazy stuff. Subbed right away (;
Great demo song as usual. So fun to hear your creativity. Seems like the NUX MG300 is a better unit for similar money. It's a good time to be a guitar player with so many quality options for low priced multi-effects pedals. God bless and rock on!
For anyone considering a GP-100 I would recommend that you try it out first if possible. The unit suffers from really bad digital clipping if the input signal is too hot. Activating effects can also result in harsh clipping sounds, much like a sound card input being overloaded. It is possible to back off your guitar volume but this is not a satisfactory solution as you lose dynamic range OR you can lower the input sensitivity OR lower the patch volume. Unfortunately both of these latter solutions greatly lowers the headphone volume, which is quite low to begin with. This may render the headphone output useless, depending on how "busy" your effects chain is, and how much you need to "calm down" the signal. One possible solution is to use a compressor/limiter before the GP-100 but even with this it was possible to clip the signal by switching on all the effect blocks. If you scan through the presets you will notice that the volume level jumps around a lot between them depending on which effect blocks are activated because Valeton has tweaked each one to minimise the clipping. I reached out to Valeton support about this but have received no response so far (2 days).
@@LeoGibsonGtr Hi Leo, Valeton support got back to me and suggested I have a faulty unit. I expected that but I don't believe it as I have seen reports of other GP-100 owners with similar problems online. I have observed that it's possible to overload both the USB and headphone output but not necessarily by the same amount. In my tests I noticed slight clipping in the headphone output when also recording via USB but on playback, the USB was very badly distorted in comparison. My advice to anyone is to push the output until the first signs of clipping and then back-off slightly for headphones - but then make a short test recording if you're using the USB out. This should get you the best signal/noise ratio. Overall it's still a great unit for the price even with these limitations. I kept it just for the A-chorus effect which reminds me of the Electric Mistress - but in stereo.
@@dansca72 yes if you are using it in front of a real amp the situation is better because you can switch off the amp modelling to reduce the clipping which appears to be a processing overload.
Great video as always Leo ! I didnt think the spring reverb was convincing, but it seemed usable anyway, i agree it was strange that you couldnt get more delay in the mix also. The all metal build is great, if they could fix the points that you made and work a little more on the effects it could be a lot better.
I use mine for headphone practice and I like it a lot! Played through a cheap Headrush 8" FRFR it is kinda meh though. It's just a bit weedy without a lot of output or pressence, and lacks a lot of bass. In comparison through the same speaker the Atomic Amplifirebox is much more "really amp" sounding in volume and thump. That being said, for a little desktop audio interface/modeler I like it a lot.
Hi Will, hard to say, it depends from your need. Do you need a pedalboard for gigging , recording or only practicing? Do you need the extra foot switches of the POD GO? Do you need an effect loop? are you using the pedalboard in conjunction with your amp? If you just need the unit for practicing, the Valeton is a pretty good choice. Thank you for your question!
Hello, good description of my product. Thks. Question: How can I copy a preset from a patch number x to a patch number y ????????? I do not read this process on the manual ?????? Thks for help?7
For anyone interested I can confirm the stereo capability of the effects as follows: Mono-only effect blocks are PRE, DIST, AMP, NR, CAB and EQ. Stereo-capable effect blocks are MOD, DLY and RVB - but not all effects types in these have stereo output. The stereo MOD effects are: A/G/B chorus Flanger Vibrato Phaser Vibe Opto Trem The stereo DLY effects are: Vin Rack Swp Echo Ping Pong All RVB effects are stereo. Note however that because you can rearrange the order of the effects, placing a stereo effect block before a mono one, like EQ, will result in a mono signal as the EQ only has a single channel.
Hello Leo. Thank you for your review. In your opinion what unit has better clarity on clean tones and effects between this one and the NUX MG300? Looking at your NUX300 review I would say the NUX but maybe I'm wrong. I would use the unit to do practice in jazz/fusion style just connecting the headphones to the device.
Hi, thank you! In my opinion the effects are better in the NUX. As regards the amps, with the same IR they are pretty close. What happened to the stereo? There was great width in your initial demo mix, but it went completely mono for all the review and examples thereafter, as if you applied the stereo in your DAW not via the GP100.
Hi, I'm not sure if I understood properly, but the stereo image in the demo song is due to the fact that I've recorded two tracks with 2 different guitars and then I've hard panned them left and right. Thank you for your message!

In addition to footswitch we can set the expression pedal as well to other effects right? If so we can set footswitch 1 to distortion footswitch 2 to delay then expression pedal to reverb. I think this makes it really versatile.

Success!
Hi, if you mean MIDI via USB, I'm not sure it is possible....as in the user manual of the Valeton, the MIDI parameters there are not listed, so I don't know if it manages midi signals. Thank you so much, I'm happy that you like my videos!
Hi, as far as I know, by default it controls the volume, and if you press the pedal toe down strongly you can change the parameter you have chosen in the global setting. In the user manual of the unit, the procedure is explained. Thank you for your question.
*You gave the demo by actually shredding on the thing.* It doesn't have the scattering transient noise II hear in other low priced models. *My playing is cleans AF but my current unit is over 10 years old with not the best clarity.* My high end unit is sitting in my studio awaiting repairs.
@@LeoGibsonGtr your Demo was the best. I know I can buy this thing and not suffer through constant fine tuning of patches I already stored. I read a lot of comments about clipping and USB connections and issues with plugging into the front end of amps but I personally would plug this in to the effects loop like I do with Amplitube through an interface. Shouldn't plugging the Valeton into effects loop avoid these issues?
Hi, I didn't encounter these problems, anyway you can use the Velotone in the fx loop, just remember to remove the cab sim. Thank you for your message!

I would play the tracks on my DAW and record my guitar and the volume is fine but when I play back what I just recorded, the volume is way down. I made sure to set the recording and playback levels at 0. I also tried plugin in the pedal into my M-Audio audio interface but the sound quality is atrocious. All I want to do is hear what I'm recording, at the right level and in real time. I already have guitar rig and just bought this pedal to lower my computer processing power load. Any ideas?
Hi...I dun understand why you need to set the recording and playback levels at 0..For me, normally I would test recording for a few seconds, look at the recorded waveforms...making sure the waveform size is somewhere in the middle...and adjusting my recording level in my Daw or audio interface if needed...I would assume setting your recording level at 0 would have no audible output...Hope this helps...!
I wish people would think about this logically and what you are getting in this unit for less than U$150 lots of amps, cabs, drives, modulations, reverbs, delays, loopers, tuner, drums, load IR’s etc. Your not buying a high end modeller like a fractal at around U$1000 or more so sound quality isn’t gonna be as good or if you bought one decent individual pedal like an Ibanez TS9 @ U$120 or a JHS 3 series pedal @ U$99 recently released to compete in budget market, one pedal effect cost nearly the same or more as the GP100 which for the money is very well made with so many effects and features and if you spend a bit of time editing the parameters and tones you can come up with some excellent sounding fx and overall tones for a fraction of the price. I live in the UK and managed to buy a GP100 opened but never used off eBay for £50!!! Bargain the best £50 I’ve spent in a long time, it works for me to play at home, recording and playing live, no complaints from me it’s a fantastic piece of kit for the money, the only weakness really is the drum section but at least it’s there and is useable instead off just a metronome click, for me I only really bought it for the modulation fx but I like the delays and use various, reverbs I use and certain drives, distortions and fuzzes and I’m happy and surprised with the results after spending the bit of time to develop and edit the tones I want. Don’t ever expect to get guitar fx processor and expect the preset patches to sound shit hot straight away or be at the right output level, you gotta work with your gear, get to know it and you’ll be amazed with the results you can get. For me and it’s only my opinion for so little money the Valeton GP100 gets 10 out of 10 from me.

@@Funkfreed i mean, you could do that if you set a different fs to each effect, but if you press both at the same time you Will enter to the tuner
Hi, very nice review. Could you just confirm 1 thing? In the app, are import/export to move pacthes from/to PC? If so, are the number of patches that can be stored on PC unlimited? I'm pretty sure it is but wanted confirmation from someone who has the unit before I go out to get one.
Yeah, you can import and export patches
@@joseurias4045 Thx man
Hi Leo, I'm Brazilian, I follow and admire your work a lot, the comparisons you make are extremely top!
Sorry for the english because I don't speak english and I had to use an online translator, but I would like to leave a test suggestion, which would be to try to control this Valeton with the foot MIDI Mvave (cuvave or Yuimmer, Muslady) + Midi wireless from the same manufacturer for control of presets, would it be possible?
Success!
Hi, if you mean MIDI via USB, I'm not sure it is possible....as in the user manual of the Valeton, the MIDI parameters there are not listed, so I don't know if it manages midi signals.
Thank you so much, I'm happy that you like my videos!
Does anyone know if it can be connected from the outputs to a hi-fi amplifier like the Line 6 Amplifi TT?
Demo song - Wowow 🎸!!!!
Thank you!! When you like my music....I'm happy!!!
How do you switch your pedal from volume to expression
Hi, as far as I know, by default it controls the volume, and if you press the pedal toe down strongly you can change the parameter you have chosen in the global setting. In the user manual of the unit, the procedure is explained.
Thank you for your question.
*You gave the demo by actually shredding on the thing.* It doesn't have the scattering transient noise II hear in other low priced models.
*My playing is cleans AF but my current unit is over 10 years old with not the best clarity.*
My high end unit is sitting in my studio awaiting repairs.
Thank you for sharing!
@@LeoGibsonGtr your Demo was the best. I know I can buy this thing and not suffer through constant fine tuning of patches I already stored.
Cheaper units are so prone to sounding off based on temperature, humidity and air pressure change that it drives me nuts!
Something will perform great one day, and the next sound like trash.
@@LeoGibsonGtr is there a way to switch it into 16-bit mode?
I read a lot of comments about clipping and USB connections and issues with plugging into the front end of amps but I personally would plug this in to the effects loop like I do with Amplitube through an interface. Shouldn't plugging the Valeton into effects loop avoid these issues?
Hi, I didn't encounter these problems, anyway you can use the Velotone in the fx loop, just remember to remove the cab sim.
Thank you for your message!
I run mine through an effects loop with A 7Band Eq. Might try zero effects with only the amp models running through my Crate 4x12 cab to find my flavor
@@LeoGibsonGtr your comment about disabling the cab sim in my previous comment has come up more than once in other inquiries. Why is that better? The Crate PowerBlock is an amp head that was specifically designed for multi-effects processors. While it does have tone and gain controls, it is a solid state amp head. Just curious why cab sims need to be disabled.
@@jreagle58 because you are using it with a real cab
@@jreagle58 what about in front of an amp for only effects ? Without any amp sim and cab does it sound good ?
What would you rather buy this or the Nux mg300?
Hi, I have compared them here: ruclips.net/video/5F8YAarIA78/видео.html
You can check out the video, where there are also my considerations.
Thank you!
@@LeoGibsonGtr I've watched that too but couldn't figure out which one you'd like out of the 4.
However, I feel that the Nux mg 300 seems to offer the best ui and best recording facilities.
Thanks.
Do keep up the awesome reviews.
I'm watching from Aizawl India
Thank you, I'm happy that you like the reviews! I try to give you the elements to decide your own....sometime I have a clear preference, and if I have I tell you, some other time it depends from our use cases.
Thank you!
Do you have to have it connected to a PC in order to change anything? If so that fact would put me off considering it!
Hi, no, you are not obliged to connect the unit to a computer in order to change presets / parameters.
Thank you for your message!
Hi! Thanks for the video!
When I use the GP100 as my audio interface, I find that the recording volume is very low.
Any ideas?
Ya está la última actualización revísala xq mejoraron el volumen
Hi...I dun understand why you need to set the recording and playback levels at 0..For me, normally I would test recording for a few seconds, look at the recorded waveforms...making sure the waveform size is somewhere in the middle...and adjusting my recording level in my Daw or audio interface if needed...I would assume setting your recording level at 0 would have no audible output...Hope this helps...!
Is that g100. is easy to edit ..and nice tone of similar to analog
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Great video. One issue is that it is in mono.
Hi, thank you, I'm really happy that you appreciate the video!
This thing looks pretty cool but what would be the best multi-effect for under 200$ ?
Hi, maybe you can check out this video: ruclips.net/video/5F8YAarIA78/видео.html

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your opinion! Interesting points...
Does anyone know if the delay issue has been fixed in an update please? Delay was always too quiet
I am using 1.8 firmware and it sounds good. Delay is loud enough.
Mercyful Fate ❓
is the reverb and delay good now with the updates?
Hi, may I ask you what you mean with "now"? If you are referring to the firmware 1.7 that was released in December 2021, as far as I know, only the delay has been improved, increasing the volume and feedback volume.
Thank you for your question!
@@LeoGibsonGtr thank you for the answer, yeah what i mean was if they improved them with the new updates... I wanted to buy this or the mg300 that sounds better.
