I'm always getting so surprised by how much you think the design through - those carvings and the frame! While colouring the details got me really good, thanks for that
No many words to add.. it is so satisfying to watch your videos and at the end, get always amazed by the result (even if we all already know how talented are those hands). Thank you.
this is very interesting to me because in my limited hobbyist miniature etc painting i would very much have worked in the opposite order, painting "back to front" in layers so to speak, wood first, then gold, then working on trying to weather it with the patina. but clearly that's a lot of wasted effort and covered up paint, if you have the foresight to understand what the actual end result will be. and you retained a lot of the contrast from the black undercoat doing it your way. i get the impression you probably went to art school but either way its very helpful and instructive to see how you work, thanks for posting all these videos
I went to 'design' school 🤷🏻♀️ but did learn to paint with oils, acrylics, gouache and watercolours from art books and stuff (and have been painting for over 20 years now). There are so many varying techniques in the art world, there's no real right and wrong as long as you reach your intended vision :) (although the purists may think otherwise)
Wow, Just wow. I have been wanting to make a polymer cover for years, but It's so outside my comfort zone, I guess I will just have to be brave and do it.
Hi I love your videos, thanks for posting. Can you please explain why you always have a dark under coat? Your painting is brilliant and other sites use a light under coat but they never look as good as yours. I don’t know why the different under coat would make such a difference, I mean aside from your brilliant paint work, you make it so realistic ❤️
Where do you find your music for the videos? AndI love how you do the patina! I always paint the metallic and then weather that, I need to try it your way, see if it works on 28mm models too
The gargoyle is just so cute I suddenly expect him to come to life and start spotting riddles at me, but my answer will be to just boop him on the nose and call him the goodest of bois. :3
I love this so much, really inspires me to try more relief style sculpting sometime soon!! Quick question, was the black base coat just paint or like black paint mixed with anything?
Really enjoying your videos! Such talent! Your so patient. Loving your creativity, inspiration & humor(seen in other vids😁). So glad I found your channel in my feed! New subbie. Tfs!💜!
Hello I’ve just come across your channel. Love your work. I’m thinking of making a few covers for my art journals. I’m just wondering what it was that you were using as a base to put your work on. And did you bake the clay on it too. If not how did you remove the clay from that surface please. Sorry true novice and very curious because these products and tools are not cheap and I really don’t want to make and then waste. If you don’t mind helping me out I would truly appreciate it. Thank you cherieK🦋🌈
Zan Von Zed I’m so sorry to bother you again. What type of glass is it. It looks like it’s out of a picture frame. Sorry it just really looks fantastic and the fact when you’re working on the clay once you’re ready straight into the oven. I know if I’m going to move my work to put on a service to bake the clay I’m going to stuff it up. And all my baking trays are huge and would make it very difficult to work with. Thank you again. And I’m sorry I ask a lot of questions. CherieK🦋🌈
Amazing work!!! Question: how do you stop the clay from chipping or cracking when using? I find Super Sculptey to be not very strong after baking. Do you coat it with anything else to make it stronger?
Thank you! Mine doesn't seem to chip after baking. Maybe bake longer? Or the oven temperature is slightly off from the dial indicator..? Some people put an oven thermometer inside the oven to get a more precise temp. Failing that, I've heard Premo is stronger. Varnishes won't help too much if its brittle, unless you coat it with resin. Hope thats somewhat helpful :)
Best description of faux verdigris I've seen on the net - thanks!
OMGOMGOMG what a cool effect!!!! I'm certainly goin insane about your arts. Forever love
wow, amazing! love how you did the copper oxidisation
My god you are the queen of wood grain! I would love to see you get one of those miniature house kits and putting your own spin on everything inside.
That's what I did for my very first video on YT :) (but the outside)
Colours on point !
I never get tired of watching your videos over and over, you're amazing keep doing great job!
Same I keep coming back for new ones and each time I just watch all of them over again
I love this metaphore. Books are like doors to other worlds.
I’m so glad I found this channel during summer, because I still have time to try and learn to make something as pretty as you do
I totally love watching journal cover tutorials!
I love the oxidization look method you used here. Excellent job.
It's amazing how much like oxidized copper it looks! 👏

Wow! Thank you for sharing.
Stunning, a master class in clay, colouring (using only 4 colours) and of course book cover making. Thank you for sharing x
wow the effect that you got wiping off that turquoise and painting on the metallic paint! It looks just like oxidised bronze! Incredible work!
Hi, its very very Great, Superbe!!!👌👌👌👍👍👍

Amazing effect and result!
Absolutely amazing! Watching your imagination come to fruition by the skill of your hands is truly remarkable. You are an artisan. Well done.
THANK YOU!!! I've been doing my patina all the way around!!! Your way makes a lot more sense: Undercoat > Patina > Metal!!!
Both ways work well, I just find this way easier to control 😊
I always learn some new technique from your videos, thank you for sharing your art with the world!!
My pleasure, thanks for watching :D
wow :0 that journal looks like it holds the secrets to the past

How long did this take from start to finish (including gathering materials and drying)? Beautiful job!
Thanks! This one is Polymer Clay, so drying was only 15 minutes in the oven. I think roughly around 20ish hours for everything..
How did you get the clay a flat rectangle in the first place? lol

what type of glue are you using?
Just love it! This totally made my day. :-)
Loved the entire process. Especially love how you recovered the book. What was the clay cover mounted on? Was that MDF?👍🏾❤️
Thanks! No mount, just clay, then glued to a hard-cover journal :D
@@ZanVonZed Ah, ok. It looked like it was mounted to another piece when you turned it over to glue it. Beautiful work.👍🏾
👍👍👍
