  • Refilling a glue bottle can be a big mess, here's a tip to help make it neater. Use a medicine syringe to pull up the glue from a small cup and easily dispense it into a variety of glue bottles. I learned this technique from Natasha Foote so please check out her channel for a lot of other great crafting and card making tips!

    Good tips - I used syringes at work and would add that removing the plunger from the syringe when cleaning and drying it would help keep the seal in better condition (as they are only designed for single-use really) and, after cleaning the necks of the refilled glue bottles with damp tissue, smear the thread with a small amount of vaseline- this will stop the top being hard to get off next time.

      Those are really good tips, thanks for sharing! 😀 I will have to try the Vaseline trick.

      @@LoveAndPieces000 Vaseline will degrade rubber, which is why they tell you to never use it as a lubricant with condoms, nor use it to revive rubber stamps that have dried out. In the stamping community, glycerine is recommended instead.

    • @LoveAndPieces000
      @LoveAndPieces000  6 месяцев назад +5

      Oh! Good to know, thanks for sharing that. I have not had to deal with dried out stamps but will remember glycerin instead of Vaseline. I love that everyone is sharing their knowledge with the group. We can all learn something if we are willing to listen and share. 🥰

      I have been using the mini funnels that came with a set of empty nail polish bottles. I ordered them to put my Fray Check in because I prefer the control of using the brush rather than applying it straight from the bottle it comes in. Too often you get way more than you need that way.

    I knew about the syringe - but oh boy did it ever end up a mess! The idea of using a little container is a game changer for me! No more glaring at the almost empty bottle. And i agree about puffing out the fine tip top remove glue. Also if the metal tip does get clogged soaking in hot water and thin fine needle works a treat

    If you squeeze the bottle and gradually release it as it fills, that will also help with the burps and air bubbles

  • @helenelegace1323
    @helenelegace1323 6 месяцев назад +2

    Hi, I use the little bottles too. I squeeze the little bottle and slowly let go while I plunge the glue in. The suction helps pull the glue into the little bottle. Also, I wish that precision press was available in Canada. It would cost me 75.00 USD to purchase it for up here, which would be 102.00 canadian. Craft supply prices in Canada are unbelievable. Very frequently, we can not purchase them at all... I'll keep using the little bottle. It is starting hurt, though, because I've developed arthritis in my hands.

    Try putting a tiny bit of vasaline around the rubber before using. It will slide easier. After washing dry plunger, apply more and store without putting plunger in tube. It will last longer. Also pour glue in syringe, then add plunger. Stop pushing before air when glue is out. Having patience means less waste. Use qtip inside empty cup on a craft. Tag making time!😊

    Check the labels on your glue bottles for how much they hold. Your Nuvo bottle holds 50mls, from what I've just seen (you used two and a half syringe-fills), so fill the 20ml syringe twice, then fill it to the 10ml level for the last fill.
    It doesn't matter about air in the top of the syringe. That only matters if you're putting its contents into a body. You did ok keeping the nozzle in the glue, so that prevented it in the mix, but if that does happen, with the nozzle upwards, tap it gently, but firmly till the bubbles go to the nozzle.
    Someone else already said about squeezing the bottle you're filling till the glue comes to the top, then letting it go as you fill it, It works really well, especially on those every small bottles. With those, you're better off using the smaller syringe, as it gives better control and usually, they take less effort to to pull up and push down the plunger.
    When you've part-filled the bottle (about a third full), tap it gently but firmly on a hard surface a few times to 'burp' the air out. repeat at two thirds and again when full.
    As another person's already said, pull the plunger right out of the syringe for cleaning. Clean the barrel with warm washing up water (not too much washing up liquid, though. You don't want masses of foam, just a little) and a small bottle brush, then rinse it out. Push the plunger back in while the rubber and the inside are still wet. It'll go in easier and the little bit of dampness doesn't affect the glue. Then half-fill it with warm water, pull the plunger back up, shake it hard and empty it about five times. It'll clear any residual glue in the nozzle. Then fill it with air, and clear out residual dampness in the nozzle by pushing down the plunger fast several times while the nozzle's in a piece of kitchen towel. Store the plunger and body separately, both parts together inside a zippy bag (helps to keep the rubber soft as there's very limited air).
    😊

      Wow! This is a lot of good information 😀 I will definitely try the "burping" technique.

  • @lindamarshall8279
    @lindamarshall8279 6 месяцев назад

    HINT: If you tap the bottle on the desk a few times, when you’ve finished filling bottle, this brings air bubbles up to the top of the bottle so you can pop them with a pin. Also I’m wondering if you removed the plunger completely, rubbed it with some vaseline, or oil, let it sit for a minute and then wipe it clean, if this would help preserve the rubber without contaminating your glue. 😊

    I have a small funnel that works very easy. I estimate how much I need & pour, then take out the funnel & look into the small bottle and estimate the amount. Aim to fill about 90 % full. Takes about 30 seconds to do & no syringes to wash. Washing the syringe is easier too. This is my opinion.

    After using the syringes and washing them; use some alcohol, I prefer 91% as it dissipates quicker, but only in the syringe placing a finger on the tip, or place in a container and alcohol cleans out glue well. I also use it to clean the fine metal tips used with art glitter glue, I let them soak in an empty container with a lid. The guile will turn to gel making easy to get out with a toothpick, then I can reuse tips, tops and bottles again.

    Please tell me about your knee replacement. My dr says I’m overdue. Is it worth it? Right now I can barely walk, my left knee has had steroidal injections that only work for 2 weeks the most. After washing and drying the syringes you can put a little bit of baby oil or glycerin on the end of the rubber. Also you need to store them taken apart not together

    Just put a little oil in the black rubber with a paper towel and will be okay.

    Maybe put a coating of Vaseline on the plunger to help glide. It will help the rubber last, too.

    A light coat of vaseline will keep your syringes sliding easily.

      No, I used as much as I could of the glue that was in there then just added to it.

      That was my fear too, but knock on wood I have not had an issue with these doing it. I am careful to keep them stored up right when they have glue in them. Good luck on your glue journey. 😉

      When done using, unscrew the top from the bottle & gently squeeze the bottle (holding pressyon the bottle) screw the top back on, and release the pressure on the bottle it will draw any glue out of the needle tip back into the bottle, then tap it on the table a few times before you put the cover back on the needle tip.

      Right now I have Art Glitter Glue in all my bottles. I like that it's consistency is easy to squeeze but not so thin it just runs out the nozzle.

      I found them in the Health and Beauty aids/Pharmacy area but I had to ask someone for help. I have also seen them online.
