It is about the reclamation, reconciliation and reconnection to our identity and the origins of who we are and where we come from. By knowing who we are we are then able to know where we are going. Stan was recently in your neck of the woods, early December 2023, for preview screenings of the movie in LA & NYC on the 8th Dec 2023 to help promote the movie this song was written for "Origin" before opening for general release in the US on the 19th Jan 2024. There seems to be plenty of media feedback that this song could make the Oscar nominee shortlist for Best Original Song.
As you can probably tell us Kiwi's are pretty excited and proud Stan has chosen to take on the responsibility as a role model of sharing a little bit of our (Maori) Culture with the rest of the world. We are glad to see he is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

This song is more than the reclaimation and reconciliation to our origins; it's God's message to humanity. "You are the wind, breathe into me" and when he brings his hands into his chest, it's like he's saying to God to breathe life into me...that bit always makes me cry. You inherit me, I inherit you" wow; we are one! "You are with me, I am with you" We are the water, the rivers the streams" he's acknowledging God presence in everything that exists. As a born again christain, he was given his God given voice to spread the message especially after having his stomach removed through cancer; he didn't think he'd be able to sing again. Weeks after his operation, he couldn't sing a note and was due to give a concert. When he stepped onto the stage the words just came out, he is truly blessed and part of God's plan!
