Yea man. I am so sick and tired of reading the same kind of books and I have just been reading similar fantasy books, that I need a different magic system with the "trials to get into a previledged place" trope so much. I will never get tired of it.
One thing you should *never* feel guilty about buying an abundancy of is books. I think it's one of the most important things you can buy that's not technically a necessity.

I personally love when booktubers begin reading with no prior knowledge of the plot or major themes of their books, because in the future when you post your reading vlogs and monthly wrap up videos you're able to give your honest opinions and reactions to what you've read!! you've helped me rediscover my love for "reading blind" as my dad says, which is when you pick up books simply because of the cover or recommendations from others and just go for it

I would highly recommend a book called "Feminism Interrupted: Disrupting Power" by Lola Olufemi. It is kind of like a simple introductory book to radical feminism, and tries to push away from liberal white feminism. It's only 150 pages long, but still provides a good basis to understanding radical feminist thought, and to make your feminism more meaningful. (I was able to access it for free through JSTOR using my university log-in, otherwise I think you'd have to buy it, but it's quite inexpensive and would be good to support the author 😊)

I loved smoke gets in your eyes! I was already a fan of Caitlin’s videos beforehand so I listened to the audiobook and I just love how open she is about death. It makes it so much less scary to talk about and actually helped to provide a lot of closure when my grandparents died last year.
i really want to read the vanishing half, but there’s like a million people on the hold list at my library and it’s $27 :(( also Overdrive is another really great app!

I am reading Mexican Gothic right now and so far it is very atmospheric and mysterious.....I am about a third of the way in!! PSA: THE UK/BRITISH EQUIVALENT OF LIBBY AND HOOPLA IS BORROWBOX - I spent ages looking for it at the beginning of quarantine but honestly borrowbox is amazing, (not an ad I'm just a broke avid reader lol) all you need is a British library card which, I believe, you can get for free from your council
Jenny Odell also has a speech talking about the concept of how to do nothing as well! One of my professors had us watch it for homework this past semester (before the pandemic) and it was wonderful. Can't wait to read the book.
I like being surprised. When people post wrap ups and hauls I actually just look at the books and forward through the “talking about them” because I don’t want to know 😂
You not knowing much about the plots/synopses is refreshing! Book hauls that are just a person reading the synopsis on the back of each book (which I can do myself, ya dig) get so dull - I’d much rather hear about why you’re excited to read them!
