The iconic VOX AC15C1 Custom amplifier has 15 watts of all valve power ready to provide you with that warm, responsive tube sound that has made this amplifier so revered.
Extremely simple to use, the VOX AC15C1 Custom provides maximum tonal dexterity via the two channels: Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel has its own Volume control, whilst the Top Boost channel provides a little more control via the additional Bass and Treble controls.
The inclusion of a master volume is extremely useful and makes it an ideal option for those in need of that warm tube sound at lower volumes. It's one of the best practice amps around and definitely one of the best tube amps for home use too. Don't be fooled by it's smaller size or lower wattage - this can still be gigged with and is widely used by professional musicians of all genres thanks to how loud it can get and how beautiful it sounds at all volumes.
Go from lush clean tones that reminiscent of the Fab Four, to hard core rock tones that everyone from The Kinks to Queens of The Stone Age would be proud of - The AC15 amplifier can handle it all!

LOL!
I don't get it.
LMFAO!!!!!!
What???
It's actually the older brother of the AC30. He said pedantically...
That is one of the most beautiful sounds to my ears ever. Guess I’m a Vox guy. I have a fender blues junior which is great in it’s own way but something felt like it was missing to me. Just wasn’t for me.
Maybe it's your playing, not the amp!! Bit rich to blame a blues jr, I own one and can say I love it thank you very much!
@@mrtambourineman6107 blaming it for what? He said something was missing from his tone. You ever thought that maybe the amp that suits you isn’t as good to everyone else? Just because your amp works for you doesn’t mean that it’ll work for him. Don’t be jackass! 😂
Same here. The vox IS better.
@@mrtambourineman6107You're comment shows how smart you are. Not much. 😝
@ericfranchi1354 does it?? Yours makes you look like one of those 'internet geniuses'
It's not much quieter than an AC30. Starts to break up a bit earlier but I've owned both and
they are both pretty loud
tableface77 well said! Doubling watts does not mean doubling volume! I have to use an attenuator even gigging or it’s just too loud.........that being said.......TONE FOR DAYS! 😍😊😎
If it means 20 pounds less of my back breaking for the same volume... then shut up and take my money.
Does it have enough headroom for cleans at a band volume before it starts breaking up ?
@@hkmz455 It should do yes - they are still very loud! I never run completely clean anyway but my rhythm sound cut though nicely in a band scenario when rolling down the guitar volume.
Love the the riffs!
Be warned, these things are seriously loud. Of course you can get low volume but you can with any amp. Crank them to get the best from them and you WILL blow your windows out. Ac10 is the sensible option for home use - I knew this and bought an Ac15 anyway (from PMT Manchester) a week ago because they are sooooo.... unbelievably good. 😉
Only drawback of the AC10 is that it's top boost only. So if you want the normal channel for some of your pedals, the AC15 is a better choice.
this is not the perfect practice amp. it is too loud. It is THE perfect amp though.
in my bedroom it sounds so loud
@@Buddyman295 turn the master down
Turn the master volume down then fool !
Would you guys say the ac10 is better for home use
@neonknight-1522 I doubt there is much of a volume difference between 10 and 15 watts. Anyway they both have master volumes so.....
A friend of mine who plays blues rates rhis AC15 over his AC30
Ahhh, fucking lovely to hear a geordie again, and really great evocative descriptions of the tone of the amp. Thanks for this! I'd already ordered a Vox AC15C1 (spur of the moment) earlier tonight, but watching you have fun on here just confirmed I'd made the right choice.
I thought he was Welsh
Just bought one from a music store here in Tennessee US. Amazing amp!!!🥳
I watched your video, went out and purchased this Vox Ac15 last week man :) thanks I liked your show. -MYS
How are you liking it?
I bet your neighbours loved it mate!
Great review, but if you play this in your house, you WILL wake up your sleeping kids 😂
The sound of guitar on the radio! I finally bought the greenback version and I should have YEARS ago. GREAT pedal amp on the normal channel as well. The only thing you need plus a guitar and cable!
Best amp ever!
That bloom could also be called a squish. It's Vox...plain and simple. Love it or hate it. I hated it for years but have come to appreciate it.
I plan on getting this amp to do a cover of Helter Skelter. It’s a beautiful amp
👍
it'd sound much better than that if you cranked the Master volume, at least past half way, much more organic and warmer
Great demo .. thank you!
I have never own a tube amp, but I'm really considering buying the ac 15, but how long life expectancy does the tubes have?
If you look after it, they will last. You'll spend more on changing guitar strings than on changing tubes.
You don't ever have to change the tubes.
And is the amp too loud ?? I'm looking at an amp that sounds soft and warm and not loud at all is this one good ?
If your amp is too loud... unplug any speakers and play through it wide open...
That will quieten it down.
The captain jack sparrow of guitars
AC15C1 greenback is one of the nicest amps I’ve ever had. The tone is so classic, you will smile soon as you plug in and hear that sound. It is nice and compact but it is very loud.
People don't realise Vox actually make some pretty good Amps
You should have pulled out a Strat. Strat plus ACXX is heavenly and I could sit there and noodle all day with that combination.
That’s what I use. 👍
Or a Les Paul, both are nice indeed!
I d rather say Vox + Fenders in general -- Teles and Jazzmasters will melt your face off through an AC15
I'm right with you. 74 strat running through an AC15C1
How well does it work with multiple effects pedals? I don't think that these amps have an effects loop in it.
PERFECT amp to use an attenuator with! It even has the wires for that inside.
You can just hook the attenuator right up?? Don't need to get any new cables or couplers or things of the nature??
I bought a greenback one and used it on each record of my band. Its an insane game changer amp! It’s got this bell like presence and playing it clean sound insanely good.I used to have a vintage fender silver panel (with the two speakers don’t remember which model). And I’d say this amp is much more versatile and is much louder and better at drive.A must have amp!
What is a proper Master Volume level for small gigs without breaking it?
Marcus one of my mates has one, he says “I’ve played full rock gigs with that thing and I’ve never had it above 4”. Basically they’re freaking loud.
That would depend upon the venue and its size and, last but not least, how the room EQs!
Like asking how many pieces of toilet paper should I use for tomorrow's shit.
For which there is only one answer....
42.
@@shanemiller2046 none…get yourself a god damn bidet. $50 dollars on Amazon, it will change your ass forever. It’s 2022 and we eatin ass out here son….Great amp and metaphor though.
One of my favourite amps! A timeless classic! Great video - thanks!
“Take your little brother swimming with a brick”. Hadn’t heard that one in a long time….. Needed that….. Thank you for that
Isnt the tremolo digital? I agree. It sounds really good
Fucking digital haha duede it’s 100p analog
c'mon, play some more queen!!!!!!!! do itttttt!!!!!!!! all the cool kids are doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a positive attitude, and love of the guitar game-rock on D.!
I recently learned the Beatles used Gibson j160s thru a vox ac15 amp. Do you think it would sound decent if I used a j45 instead? Thanks!
Dagan, do you think valve amps like the AC15 C1 shown here will be extinct 10 years from now as amp modelling effect technology gets so advanced and cheap they seem to take over the market? I'm talking Fractal AF3, Helix, Kemper etc? The prices are very fair on those multi fx amp units and there currently being used by guys like The Edge, Steve Vai etc (the AF3). I am wondering if buying a valve which I like better will be counter productive as this technology becomes extinct and users of valve amps get left behind the digital world that constantly evolving. (This tablets, cell phones , internet, DAW's , FRFR units, Monitors, PA systems etc). I need an answer if you think valve is better than Muti effect amp modelling Fractal and why?
I love that sound, but why does it not have an effects loop? :O
Because effects loops aren't necessary at all.... Just plug it in the top
Another thing is these amps haven't changed much as far as what they look like and do since the 50s. I have one ans definitely not a deal breaker for me. I also have a Laney that has all the fancy stuff. Lol
Putting effects after the preamp in this amp would be like putting ketchup on filet mignon.
You don't need one unless its a high gain amp which this isn't.
It already has reverb, and tremelo. The only other effect that really needs a loop is delay, but even that is ok with clean tones.
Does it have enough headroom for cleans at a band volume before it starts breaking up ?
i like your vids have bought a ac15 and luv it am using a Gibson stuido LP GOES WELL TOGEATHER THANKS MATE steve from Aussie
I just got one and it pairs extremely well with my fenDER TELECASTER SOUNDS ABSOLUTLEY LOVELY connor from us of a
I LOVE. the normal channel so much more...........I wish the AC10 was the Normal and not the TB...............can it be modded?
Of course it can be modified, changing the ohms of your resistors will affect tone. But before you do that, I recommend looking for a low pass filter and a parametric eq pedal like the Orange two stroke. Cheers.
Why you play the guitar with humbackers with Vox?
I guess I am a Fender guy I have a Blues Jr and a Princeton and I am not loving the Vox tone. Of course I would need to get my hands on one to really know.
Great demo, but I would have preferred you playing a strat
Trying to decide whether to get this or the katana MKII 100 😭😭
Crank the master, man, what the hell! Less pre-amp on tube amps is definitely the key!!
Dunno about home use. Had one and it IS LOOOOOOOUUUUUUD!
It’s really heavy, but wtf
What are the best tubes for this amp I bought a used one and I want to get some new ones
They say is doesn't make a difference.
use a tele or strat on this monster
ive used ibanez and it breaks up.
put jj tubes in mine
stock ones are Chinese.
jjs soften it up
Good review but your guitar sounds a bit scratchy. Use a Strat - the best in the worldt!
Ugly guitar (sound wise) for this amp
Does anyone know what riff he plays at 4:24?
Tie Your Mother Down by Queen
Just got mine today 😄
How big in size is this compared to a hot rod deluxe?
I had the Deville... 4-10s and I'd also plug a 1x12 up to it at the same time. Pretty damn loud.
I found myself unimpressed.
Try harder next time then.
Awesome!
Can I use this amp to gig?
Defo!
Yes yes yes 😊
2:30 what song is that?
Tie Your Mother Down by Queen
How does it handle bedroom volumes?
Idk if you already found out or not, but I will just say my AC10 is too loud for my bedroom, let alone the AC15
@@aidenmohrmann1850 I bought a Fender Princeton and had to return it as I live in a small apartment. Now I just run amp plugins through a pair of Genelec speakers to play guitar :)
If I had a bigger apartment I would get the Vox and the Princeton :p
I happen to own both a Vox ac10 and a Fender PRRI, Im considering the Vox Ac4 12 but dont want to spend more to settle for less. Id seriously like to hear one in person but live in a rural area far from Vox amps. I also keep thinking I want a Vox Ac 15 but volume is a consideration living in an apartment building
Would you VOX experts class these amps, as bright, in comparison to fender , Marshall etc....
They are the brightest compared to fender or Marshall. The vox chime is what they are famous for, fender comes close but they aren't as bright.
Brighter than a Marshall for sure. Vox amps tend to have a bit more of a bell-like chime when clean where Fender amps in my experience are more twangy clean (sorry for the lack of technical descriptions, but Reverb has a very good demo showing the differences that you can hear). I've also seen Fenders tend to have more clean headroom before breaking up over the Voxes, and I love that blend of the chime of a Vox and a bit of dirt. That said, I've played great versions of all brands.
Russel Brand sure got around 30ish years ago
For this amp, do I have to power it on and let the tubes warm up first before I can start playing?
yes
What was the queen song he was playing?
And then later on he plays some of One Vision
Is this load enough for a small club/pub gig? Difficult to tell from the video or would it's big brother the AC30 be better?
Matt Luscombe This is more than enough to a pub gig or a small club gig
Even a human voice is loud enough if they use mic. Just mic the amp if you wanna play in stadium
It also depends on what you're looking for when it comes to clean headroom from the amp. I've tried an AC30 once and I couldn't get it to a rather clean 'sweet spot' to interact with playing dynamics, without it simply blowing my head off. The AC15 is a way more reallife userfriendly amp that holds up at most pubgigs. I've seen countless local bands use them both straight up or mic-ed up at bigger venues.
How do you activate the attenuator
Attenuation is only on the head version
caleb bohrer t hanks
It fits a certain style of music VERY well. Not for me tho
I'm doing that 'demo before you buy' thing here and, to be honest, it sounds crap. Might be that from that room full of guitars you've picked the one least likely to be paired with it. I'll keep listening to demos until I find one that justifies the purchase. :-)
It’s bc he set the master volume so low. Really ruins the sound
That guitar sounds absolutely terrible. Or maybe it's the mic you're using. But you can't very well sell someone on an amp when you make it sound like garbage.
Yeah the AC10 is almost too loud for a house, let alone an AC15
Has it got a stand by switch?
Yee
i own 2 rgs and a jem jr.
fender strat not my style.
i pass on that!
Sorry, too loud. Its clipping
