Bought a 98 F-150 3-door 4x4 with a 5.4L back in 2008 for $2700 back when gas was $4.50/gallon, same burgundy interior/exterior color, built in Norfolk, VA. Drove it from Charlotte, NC to Iguala, Mexico back in Sept. 2008 where it's still running strong today with over 333000 miles on it. Fun 3 day, 2200 mile adventure!
I too own a 10th generation F-150 with the 4.6 V8. While it may be underpowered, it is an absolute beast of a truck. I’ve had no problems with it at all
Attention all viewers: This truck was *STOLEN* in the fall of 2019. Assuming it still exists, we believe it may be in the Indianapolis area. In addition to the unique dark red interior, this truck has (or had) a mismatched bright red mirror cover on the passenger's side. There are some kind of dark brown stains on the headliner, which is off white in color. They look almost as though someone opened a fizzy soda and it sprayed all over the place. If you have any information about this truck or its whereabouts, please post a response to this comment or look on my channel "about" page for an e-mail address. Any legitimate tips would be appreciated.
Hi UXWBill. Was your truck ever found ? I have a paid off 14 f150 super crew and i always worry about it getting stolen. The truck was given to me by my uncle because he bought himself a new truck. Anyways I always worry about mine being stolen because I only carry liability on it. I thought about making a kill switch that would control the fuel pump. I hate to hear about that truck being stolen. 16 year subscriber. 🎉
The 1998 and 1999 Tauruses and Sables had a BLUE interior. Along with beige and gray. When at least 96-03 Tauruses were imported from Canada to the US, the importer goes through a dealer or FoMoCo to obtain a replacement speedometer head with MPH as the default and the mileage converted to Miles. The cluster was removed, disassembled, and had speedo head swapped out. Must be similar for the Ford F150 where they obtain a new US market cluster with mileage matched, then replace it. Nice and easy since all other regulations won't matter. (no need to change cats, window glass, etc).
I had a base model 2001 with the 4.6, it actually had some get up to it, no tachometer, no cruise control, manual windows and locks, all grey interior with vinyl bench seats, it had been in a wreck, belts were cut and airbags deployed but it didn't stop me, I honestly miss that truck, lost it to an oil pump failure and the city picked it up off the side of the road before I could
It's possible this truck began life as a Canadian model, which was then imported by an American dealer, and they swapped the Metric instrument cluster with a U.S. one.
It may come late on this one but maybe someone else might need the info: Generally if a Ford/Mercury/Lincoln of that vintage (early 90-late 2000s) blow the instrument fuse when shifting into gears it is 99% the Overdrive Lock-out button wiring that shorts out right below the shift lever. Easy fix.
My 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme was manufactured in Canada. It's been done for years now. It had a 200 THD and it blew the torque convertor on the first cold winter day. The dealer in Yonkers NY put a 350 in it... Later in it's life I put a 350CID engine in it to replace the 260 originally installed. I though at the time of purchase that the V8 was the engine to go with, I later regretted that choice as the V6 offered was a much better engine. Funny, I sold my 1978 Starfire because the engine was not running correctly, Completely my fault! I plugged the vacuum advance not liking emission controls at the time. I was young and dumb at the time! Well learning... Today no issues making it work as new so I guess it worked out in the end.
I've never driven the truck version, but we had a 4.6L TBird in the family a few years ago. I found it to be a very smooth, "civilized" engine, but surprisingly lacking of low end torque for it's size. The programming also shifted slowly. It seemed Ford had it set up as a luxury engine. It was certainly long lasting though. Ours had 350K when we parted and the engine was still doing okay. The 4.6 seems to have a reputation for that. I'm slow to warm up to a red interior but I like it here. Every Ford truck I've been in was a generic gray U-Haul rental. This color makes it feel like it's yours. There was a trick at least in the TBird. If you engage the "OD off" feature, select 1st, and then manually select 2nd as you accelerate, it would shift faster and chirp the tires. That was impossible with the normal D/OD selection. Manipulating it this way apparently put the ECM into a different mode of behavior. I've seen this button labeled as "MAN SHIFT" in an older Ford, where it was a reference to 2nd gear start capability and a sportier shifting mode. I think in reality, the button did similar things in both vehicles, they just had different labels. Don't trust that oil pressure gauge on Fords. They're rigged to read nearly constant. I guess Ford got tired of service calls from people who didn't know how oil pressure really behaves. You have to hook up a mechanical gauge to get a real reading.
Great video as always Bill. My best friend has the 2001 version of this truck, but it's forest green, and the crew cab with the short bed, V8 and 4x4, though I think his has the electronic switch on the dash. His is the fill kit Lariat version, with leather. Bought it used about 4 years ago with something like 71K miles on it. Today, I think it has a mere 127K, max on it. I own a 2003 Mazda Protege5 that had 110K+ miles on it when I bought it nearly 2.5 years ago now, and it has 128K+ miles on it now. I've ridden in his truck and it's a very nice vehicle, and today, pretty much anything you buy in the past decade from the big US 3 tend to be more or less reliable. The sad fact of it was the big 3 made some awful cars in the 70's, and 80's in terms of their not being reliable in the least. That is, you may get 2 bad ones for every good one. But when you got a good one, they tended to last. Love these types of videos.
That truck’s interior reminds me of a red velvet cake. Steering wheel and various parts of the dash (including the radio): chocolate chips Headliner: Frosting Rest of interior: Cake
They made a performance improved version of the 4.6 starting about 2000, that gave you another 30HP. I've been driving a 2001 2WD with the 4.6 and the 3.55 gear (was an option and if you wanted a limited slip rear end you had to get the 3.55 or 3.73 gear, however the 3.73 was only available with the 5.4) since it was new in 2001. Yes it's not a torque engine, to pull a trailer you're looking at direct drive and it downshifts a lot. I had a '66 Old Toronado on a trailer behind it ran into the hills on I-75 south of Mackinac City Michigan and it downshifted and was pulling 3200 RPMs to hold 55-60 MPH. Wasn't something you wanted to sit in very long at that RPM. It did pull much better after I got it running on all cylinders again, seems from day one it had a weak injector, you'd work it, the cylinder would go lean and start knocking, the computer would do it's thing including retarding timing and power would drop off. I put 8 new injectors in it at 100,000 miles and the knock went away and it pulls stronger with no knock or fuss.
Bill, check if the cruise control cut-out switch is a pressure switch on the brake master cylinder. If yes, it needs a fuse link from Ford to avoid a fire risk.
I have a 1998 f150 XLT 4x4 same color as this only my interior is tan and matches secondary color. And with overdrive the 4.6 did impress and I had to drive with a head gasket leak for 5 months and still went everywhere and did everything that’s fixed now just carried some coolant and kept an eye on coolant level
This may be a late answer, but the problem is most likely in the shift lever wiring that pops the instrument fuse. The OD OFF switch wires will short to ground. Many Ford/Mercury/Lincoln cars and trucks have that problem. In most cased all it needs is a bit of insulation placed at the right spot, worst case is a new shift lever.
I love the car junkyards out in the country, because you can look for hours for old car parts or buy an older car, if it's in good enough shape. There are some good junkyards in the Midwest, even in Iowa.
When you said "this truck's got a lot of promise", at first it sounded like you were going to say "a lot of problems". But considering that you actually found some good things to say about the Impala, I should not doubt your eternal optimism when it comes to vehicles. The instrument cluster was probably swapped for a U.S.-spec one when it was imported, which means it might have more miles on it than indicated on the odometer, and they might not have done the neatest wiring job, thus contributing to its propensity for blowing fuses. At least here in NJ, if you buy or sell 7 or more vehicles in one year, you have to register as a car dealer. At the rate you're going, maybe I should start printing a Walsh Motors sign for you to put on top of that garage!
***** When you said that after Furhead filled the truck up with gas and lost a 5amp fuse after he started up reminded me of my 2000 Malibu that I am driving currently after I got the air compressor plugged back in so I can have Air conditioning. After running the car with AC for about 15 mins or so my Fuel gauge as well as my Temp gauge would not register meaning that I blew a fuse which was caused by by the compressor. So I had to replace the compressor with a new one. About the horn if you have a deer in your path is also when you need the horn. Not a bad truck for what it is. Yes it is interesting that a Canadian based truck has English measurements.
We have a fully Canadian F150 with all stock parts except for a small 3 inch lift that was installed for farm usage. The speedometer in this thing and in our truck is practically the same except the mph and the km/h are swapped in our truck.
uxwbill, First off, long time fan, and fellow electronics guru lol. I would say that F150 was a Canadian truck first. The dead give away for me is the headlights. Those are day time driving lights or DRL's. Those could have been ordered however, all cars in Canada are required to have them. I own the same year of F150 and same model and mine does not have them. My Chrysler Aspen was also from Canada and has them. I also discovered after pulling the gauge pod that there was a sticker saying that it had been changed from kmh to mph and that it was certified. You could check there. I own a small thrift store and get some pretty neat older electronics so I enjoy watching your videos and comparing.
Guess the last owner was thinking, it's just a truck and it's gonna get dirty. My dad's had problems with the volume nob as well. It was a '97 5.4 Lariat. Added Flowmaster.
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Bode Amir thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I had a 2000 f150 with the 5.4. Drive a friends 4.6, the torque delivery is obv better in the 5.4. It was 2 valve, still running 2017 with around 190k miles.
My mom had a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Daytona coupe that was a Canadian import vehicle. It also had DRL's and owner's manuals that were both in English and French, but with the speedometer in MPH. The climate control was in Celsius, however. Sadly, a deer killed that vehicle, three days after Mom's last payment on it, but it was fun while it lasted. Now she's got a Chrysler 300m Special.
my dad has had 2 4.6 engines they are a good all around reliable engine plenty of power to do what the truck was designed to do but if you want to do towing go for the bigger engine. my truck has a 5.4 which is another modular block ford v8 is a much more powerful v8. I have never seen an oil filter mounted like that on an f150 my fathers 2000 f150 had a 4.6 and 4x4 and the filter was on the side of the engine block. and his 1997 f150 was a canadian built one and i guess in that year they put the tail pipe ahead of the rear axle only on canadian built ones
***** It's possible. A lot of the Cadillacs in that year range (1987-1995) had transmission issues. Congrats on the truck though! Keep the Ford on the road :D
Theres a wire cliped on that goes on behind the steering wheel wich shows what gear you are in. It might be on its way off because its so close to reverse. Pop the plastic covers off behind the steering wheel and properly put it back to its place. Its pretty much an easy fix.
That will be a good truck for ya'll. I go to a couple junkyards, and they both have their cars up on welded wheels to get them off the ground. It is like going to Walmart when I go there. And yes, just like you Bill, I can spend many a hour in the junk yard. I make sure to take my truck when I go for the "just in case" scenario :) It is definitely amazing looking at some of the cars. Anywhere from drivers/pass smashed to the center of the cab, to cars that look to be in easily driving condition. Junk yards are a good place to get cheap upgrades of my cars too :)
Ya, the 2 I go to are "U Pull It" Funny thing is they claim to not be owned by the same people, but they are setup the same, even down to the signage and price sheets. I feel like " U pull it " is a franchise or something. They do not however allow people to buy an entire car for whatever reason, and always punch holes into the oil pans and slice off the cats. We still have traditional junk yards like you talk about, infact our new U Pull It replaced one. But the U Pull It always has it's parking lot full on a saturday
the mirror coating is to help with headlight glare at night, from the person behind you. my Corolla doesn't have that coating and I get glare like you wouldn't believe driving down the highway sometimes... supposedly this isn't too much of an issue anymore, they changed the way mirrors are made or something, so I should consider a replacement soon. also, my Corolla is color-keyed, and I can guarantee that there are no more color-keyed interiors! that's definitely a 90s thing. but it's great because my corpse corolla and running corolla are so close a match inside, you can't tell! so plastics be damned, I can swap components to no end and it'll look good any day of the week (well, for a Corolla.)
I believe a person that lived in canada ordered the truck from another motor company. The only ford trucks that have been built as for the body is called mercury trucks. Now my 02 4dr crew cab F150 also has the 4.6 engine but is a canadian engine built by windsor in canada and has a cast iron engine block, but Ford motors in the US does buy some of their engines from canada. The US version of the 4.6 has a aluminum block engine. Most people arent aware of these look alike engines being different. Example here my 1967 mercury cougar with the 289 looks just like the amaerican 289 ford v8 but is painted a light blue as to where the 67 fords with 289 are dark blue painted, but they are not the same because the widsor ford 289 weighs more and has nickle mixed with the cast iron and is a much tougher engine. You can have any american ford vehicle but find out iif it s V8 is the windsor version or the US version. My 4.6 V8 is very superior to the other f150 4.6s that have the 4.6 american made engine. My 4.6 is superior to the V8 4.6 in the lincolns even because the lincoln US 4.6 has aluminum block with a plastic intake manifold as to where the windsor verson like I have in my 02 F150 has a thick aluminum intake on it. I was hoping n your video that you wouls show the engine you took out of your truck so I could see that engine block because if it was from canada it would have a cast iron block
I had a 1995 Ford Taurus with a speedometer that read about 90 even though the scale only went to 85. The temperature gauge never went up to normal range unless I was going up the steep mountain on our interstate. It would fall back to below normal at the top. We also had a 2001 Olds Alero with a horn that only worked when the steering was straight. A 2001 Corolla that had a loose bulb or something in the climate controls. A slight smack would temporally fix that. LOL
A lot of vehicles are built at plants located in a different country from where they will ultimately be sold. I strongly believe this truck was built in a Canadian plant *for* the Canadian market. Certainly other Ford trucks built at that plant were equipped for the US market.
check the wire that runs from the od off switch at the end of the shifter thru the steering colum, I know on the superdutys or around the same year this wire rubs and becomes bare which causes wierd problems
Many of the Fords my family has had in the past has had the speedometer off by at least 5mph faster than it was actually going. I simply would remember how far off it was and add that amount to get the correct speed.
I am going to assume this truck was used primarily by the previous owner(s) as a work truck. Lots of work trucks aren't in the best shape cosmetically with door dings, dents, and scratches and this one has all of them. Not sure about the interior but I assume the interior won't be in great shape. The floors will be dirty, stained, and in general the interior will be dirty. Trucks are meant to be used for work so that's how it should be.
On the DRLs, I don't know about way back in 98 but I bought a friend's 01 Expedition last year and that had DRLs (and no conceivable way to turn them off, just like my stupid GMC).
Wow. My mom's van had DRL, but that doesn't work anymore, the two front doors can only unlock/lock with either the key or pushing the door locker up and down on the inside since the door actuators quit working at 120,000 miles, and the dome light switch quit working on the side door and back doors. Has over 163,200 miles on the Vortec 4.3L V6 engine.
Elise N. Same with mine... i like these Fords a lot. I have the 4.6 triton (windsor/vin 6) and i have 255,582 on it as im typing this and thats on thd original engine and transmission. Does have an oil leak onto the passenger side cat so yes it stinks if you romp on it alot. Also has an oil leak coming from the drivers side but almost in front of the engine... also has just developed a terrible annoying vibration coming from intake area. I think its gonna be my iac
My 2000 model has the same gear shift issue. Its a busted piece of plastic attached to the steering column under the dash. It has a cable going to it with a thumb adjustment at the end. I've been to lazy to fix it though.. Other than some cosmetic defects, 282k miles and counting.
The daytime running lamps may have been either an option or a requirement in Canada. My mother's old 1999 Ford Expedition didn't even have daytime running lamps and she had one of the higher end models.
My 89 Grand Marquis was made in Canada, & the speedo read in MPH. It doesn't matter where it came from, as long as it was built for American regulations.
Your grand marquis 89 was made canada I was think only up to 84 to 87 was made in canada only hmm I like I said on my replying that wad a canada made truck but we never had the red interior for the 97 to 2003 f-150 or 250
How and where did you get that build sheet? Check the bolts on the back side of the steering column for the shifter tightness if it's sloppy. Others have said what to check out for adjusting the indicator.
You sure are sprucing up the driveway over there at Walsh's Used Cars and Appliance Emporium. I didn't know they had actual interior "colors" that late other than gray or tan, nice to see that. Is it possible it's geared for towing? That's probably the reason for the lackluster acceleration. *cough* supercharger *cough* Ooohh look, "Uxwbill is bored again..." is in the recommended videos! :P
J bernier is who imported that truck into the us. They are required to put a label on the truck showing it was modified for the us market. My grams old explorer was that way
did ya ever work on the indicator its just a adjustment under the dash, actually gonna be doing it to mine this week, I have a ford f150 98 4.6 lariat, extended cab long bed, 146k miles, and id say its not under powered but you need to make sure that egr system is clean.. I had to stop driving mine after just getting it goin that everytime I turned grinding was happening in the rear end we been waiting on a new cover but that's next weekend job
+uxwbill lol I hear ya, I wouldn't care about the gear deal but I recently had my emergency brake light stop working come to find out online that's just a sensor type of thing that's keeping it from working.. I plan on fixing both since I gotta take apart the dash anyways, nice truck btw it looks almost like mine except very suprised to see that maroon interior, and sounded great!, mine has actually been down for a bit we thought we might need to get a new motor cause it was running on 7 cylinders when we got it going, anyways after 3 shops and a lot of thinking we decided to pop the valve cover off and bam there it was lash adjuster failed... put a new one back in and it fired, now we get to do all the fun stuff Trans sensor work, suspension and front end lol we are goin all out on it since it looks new the old owners pretty much kept it in good shape
i have not seen many of those F150's of that era with the red interior. very cool. those are pretty good trucks iv heard. and hows that Ranger doing? always liked that little truck. btw That Junk Yard was pretty cool! id love to go to one like that
Nice Mk1 VW Golf cabriolet ther at 11:57 I bet you don't see many over ther in the US nowadays, why on earth an old Golf like that is in there beats me they'd make a decent car for someone who doesn't have a lot of money they're reliable as heck and I bet there ain't much wrong with it that can't be serviced or fixed with some effort though I we don't know it's history right enough. Could be more than meets the eye.
The remote oil filter was on the older F150's, on the 4.6 and the 5.4 engines. They ran it there the first few years, then later it got relocated to the drivers side of the engine. You accessed it above the front differential. Kind of a tight squeeze to get it off, but not impossible. Then in 04, I believe, when the next body style came out, the filter was again relocated to the front of the engine. It was accessed in front of the front differential. Still a tight squeeze and you had to reach way up to get the filter. Incidentally, for those of you who do your own oil changes, then next time bring it in to your dealership, Walmart Auto Care, Jiffy Lube, etc. for service, please remember, hand tight is more than sufficient for the oil filter. You DEFINATELY do NOT need to tighten further with a filter wrench. It's not necessary, and makes removing the old filter considerably difficult. Hand tight only please.
I've never seen these trucks with other than tan interior, wonder how common that maroon interior is. I had a lesabre with that color interior and I liked it
I think the oil pressure gauges on many of those ford's are glorified "idiot lights", they either had perfect pressure or no pressure. Maybe I'm wrong??
My 1998 F150 with the 4.6 isn't underpowered at all. The engine in mine is rebuilt and has less than 7,000 miles on it, the old one overheated due to the mechanic who didn't repair the thermostat. The new engine is very peppy, just like the old motor with over 200,000 miles on it. Based on the acceleration on the speedo in your video, my truck seems to get up to 60mph with about half throttle way faster than what your 4.6 did and other videos of this motor on RUclips. It easily squeals the tires with quarter throttle, I don't know where I'm going with this comment but don't think I'm calling your truck a bad truck. That's a nice truck though. ...maybe forget what I just said...
+BakedPotato65 Odds are pretty good you've got a 5.4L engine if that's what the heads say. I did not try to find out if a 5.4L engine would have been a drop in replacement for this truck. Despite its being underpowered, the Ford 4.6L engine is a good engine and it gets this truck down the road plenty well enough.
+uxwbill ....well i have a 2003 Ford F 150...same engine....same owner...287.000 miles....it is a fully loaded XLT....even with a factory in dash 6 CD player....but came with the base V6 motor....that being said....my engine is very peppy....and really fills ..vee-eightish.....I owned a 99 4.6 four wheel drive before this truck....and it too was a excellent truck with very good git up and go......this truck..in the vid..has alot of issues.....and acceleration doesnt seem right....maybe it has a tow geared rear end......not sure....im here in texas....and we love our Ford trucks here....i see so many every day of my generation (1997-2004)....they are good trucks.....your truck....needs some help....to bring it back up .....the previous owners ...just didnt appreciate it enough to take care of it......my truck is extremely well taking care of.....hince the almost 300.000 miles.....but i get your point.....his truck needs help
Your right only Canada has the daytime running lights at that time back then no f150 had or has that now but my moms 2002 honda civic was made in Canada and has no daytime running lights
DRLs were a fleet option on Fords so maybe it was ordered for fleet, might explain some of the other irregularities too. Build quality at Oakville Ont wasn't the best so it may of been mis-assembled. The door jamb sticker is different than my Canadian built F-150 as it list built to US standards and no importer data. My 2001 is a tad bit different inside, they only came in gray or tan and the odometer is digital, come to think about it the previous generation of Ford pick-ups had digital odometers so I would say yours is a bit odd.
Where u live looks peaceful. Please come back to U Tube. Found your channel awhile ago and love it. Start uploading again if u find it Feasible
I too own a 10th generation F-150 with the 4.6 V8. While it may be underpowered, it is an absolute beast of a truck. I’ve had no problems with it at all

I liked these pre-1999 model 10th gens because they had the red interior option. Really stands out and i'd love to own one with a 4.6.
Also very nice to hear Fleetwood Mac don't stop on the radio too!
That truck’s interior reminds me of a red velvet cake.
Steering wheel and various parts of the dash (including the radio): chocolate chips
Headliner: Frosting
Rest of interior: Cake
*****
When you said that after Furhead filled the truck up with gas and lost a 5amp fuse after he started up reminded me of my 2000 Malibu that I am driving currently after I got the air compressor plugged back in so I can have Air conditioning.
The speedometer in this thing and in our truck is practically the same except the mph and the km/h are swapped in our truck.
uxwbill,
First off, long time fan, and fellow electronics guru lol.
Sounds like it has some of that 4.6 ping. The 4.6 in my grand marquis pings like no other under heavy acceleration, even with high octane fuel.
The 4.6 i had did the same thing. i think its just a oddity of the motor.
My dad has a 1999 F-150 and it runs great almost like the day we first bought it back in 1999
I have a 99 Cavalier 2.2 5-speed from Canada with the metric dash and also a factory block heater, it took some getting used to.
My pops had a 2000 F-150 4x4 with a 4.6 and it seemed too move it along well. Very good trucks if taken car of.
Guess the last owner was thinking, it's just a truck and it's gonna get dirty. My dad's had problems with the volume nob as well. It was a '97 5.4 Lariat.
Added Flowmaster.
Hey Bill, you hear about the new Fords? They added a tailgate warmer for when you push it home in the cold you can keep your hands warm.
***** Interesting, guess I can learn something every day.
Hi William!! My company truck is actually a single cab 1998 F150 with the....asthmatic at best, 4.2L V6.
Cracked
Heads
Every
Valve
Rattles
Or
Loses
Every
Transmission
Truth be told
That engine sounds solid!
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account??
I stupidly lost my password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Beau Lucas Instablaster ;)
@Bode Amir thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Bode Amir It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you really help me out !
@Beau Lucas Happy to help =)
I guess I'm not too awful darned disappointed that color keyed interiors went away. I've never been a huge fan of those! But to each their own.
my dad has had 2 4.6 engines they are a good all around reliable engine plenty of power to do what the truck was designed to do but if you want to do towing go for the bigger engine. my truck has a 5.4 which is another modular block ford v8 is a much more powerful v8.
Sad to see a Cadillac Allante sitting in the junk yard. They're a rare gem.
***** It's possible. A lot of the Cadillacs in that year range (1987-1995) had transmission issues. Congrats on the truck though! Keep the Ford on the road :D
Well Bill, since Fiat now owns Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth,you can honestly say that they fall under the "Fix It Again,Tony" category.......lol :P
Nice red interior on that truck. Too few cars have them nowadays.
Yeah man that's a Canadian truck daytime running lights here have been a thing for a while and so was the third brake light mount
Buses made in Britain still have the option for different coloured interiors. Usually to match the operators house colours.
LOL
The new Ford Focus ST and Ford Fiesta ST come with an optional color keyed interior.
I spotted that white Cadillac Allante at 11:11! The only Caddy ever designed by Pininfarina!
I've got a 1991 GMC Sierra and it was built at a Canadian plant. It's calibrated in mph but it's like this f150 it's got a key colored interior
The body is in good shape
I'm used to the expression "Found On a Rubbish Dump" :)
I have the same exact radio button problem with my 1998 Ford Explorer. Must be a common problem with Fords of that time.
I've been told that it is a very common problem.
Wow never seen Maroon or burgundy interior in the 1997-1998 model year F150s maroon interiors gives it a little bit of character
Your RPMs were jumping waaaaay high in relation to the speed. I think the shift selector is only a minor symptom to a larger problem.
No. 3.55 rear end gears. Truck runs and drives perfectly to this very day.
My 2000 model has the same gear shift issue. Its a busted piece of plastic attached to the steering column under the dash. It has a cable going to it with a thumb adjustment at the end. I've been to lazy to fix it though.. Other than some cosmetic defects, 282k miles and counting.
If you tighten two screws under the dash it will fix the shifter so that it isn't out of line.
The daytime running lamps may have been either an option or a requirement in Canada. My mother's old 1999 Ford Expedition didn't even have daytime running lamps and she had one of the higher end models.
Day time running lights have been a requirement since 91 in Canada.
My 89 Grand Marquis was made in Canada, & the speedo read in MPH. It doesn't matter where it came from, as long as it was built for American regulations.
Your grand marquis 89 was made canada I was think only up to 84 to 87 was made in canada only hmm I like I said on my replying that wad a canada made truck but we never had the red interior for the 97 to 2003 f-150 or 250
A
Yall lol
You should make a vid of the junkyard sometime if they'll let you.
You are correct in your assumption. The smaller digits can be used as a reference guide when traveling north of the border in Canada.
Yep, I know the purpose of those smaller digits.
not so sure but i think there was also a Trition V10 for this verison unless it was Gen.1997
A fire red truck. Call it 'To Hell And Back' unless of course it breaks down then its just 'To Hell'.
J bernier is who imported that truck into the us. They are required to put a label on the truck showing it was modified for the us market. My grams old explorer was that way
You have a good taste in music.
i dunno if u ever notice this car in my yee old buick videos but there was that exact truck in the parking lot. its gone now, rusted out unfortunately
also if you need more power from the 4.6 get one of them power programmer things that you plug into the obdII port
you need a car cam mate
did ya ever work on the indicator its just a adjustment under the dash, actually gonna be doing it to mine this week, I have a ford f150 98 4.6 lariat, extended cab long bed, 146k miles, and id say its not under powered but you need to make sure that egr system is clean..
+Baxter DeBerry that sounds good 7 cylinder supercar, brillant thought we just made!
Lmao it ran just very slow
Dead On Driveway, Gearbox Exploded.
I also noticed at the end of the video that there is a "Triton V8" logo under the f150 emblem. I thought that was the 5.4, no?
No the 5.4 and 4.6 are both tritons along with the 6.8 V10
My 1997 Ford f-150 didn't have colorkeyed interior, and it was made in Missouri.
What's that shifter on the floor for? Is it to enable and disable the 4WD feature?
my f150 has the 4.2 and it does very well on power
you are right it does
I like the maroon color inside. Most were grey or tan I think.
is the junkyard where the OCFB is and the plague van?
I love my 98 150
What is the callsign of the station going to the JunkYard i heard a W.... but the other two or three letters i am curious about
'Highway to the danger zone '
cody kamminga "DANGER ZOOONEEEEEEE"
don't know why but way you say vehicle gives me a laugh :D
i have seen some vehicles in a junk yard that seem in perfect condition
i have not seen many of those F150's of that era with the red interior. very cool. those are pretty good trucks iv heard. and hows that Ranger doing? always liked that little truck.
btw That Junk Yard was pretty cool! id love to go to one like that
Nice Mk1 VW Golf cabriolet ther at 11:57 I bet you don't see many over ther in the US nowadays, why on earth an old Golf like that is in there beats me they'd make a decent car for someone who doesn't have a lot of money they're reliable as heck and I bet there ain't much wrong with it that can't be serviced or fixed with some effort though I we don't know it's history right enough.
I had a lesabre with that color interior and I liked it
Does it have a ramot for
the doors
The mechanic may have put a 5.4 in mine, since the the heads say 5.4L on them and the the mechanic put in whatever he could find.
***** After further research, it turns out I have a Windsor motor, the other type is Romeo. Windsor 4.6's have 5.4 heads since they fit both motors
+uxwbill ....well i have a 2003 Ford F 150...same engine....same owner...287.000 miles....it is a fully loaded XLT....even with a factory in dash 6 CD player....but came with the base V6 motor....that being said....my engine is very peppy....and really fills ..vee-eightish.....I owned a 99 4.6 four wheel drive before this truck....and it too was a excellent truck with very good git up and go......this truck..in the vid..has alot of issues.....and acceleration doesnt seem right....maybe it has a tow geared rear end......not sure....im here in texas....and we love our Ford trucks here....i see so many every day of my generation (1997-2004)....they are good trucks.....your truck....needs some help....to bring it back up .....the previous owners ...just didnt appreciate it enough to take care of it......my truck is extremely well taking care of.....hince the almost 300.000 miles.....but i get your point.....his truck needs help
fleetwood mac plays in the background haha
Your right only Canada has the daytime running lights at that time back then no f150 had or has that now but my moms 2002 honda civic was made in Canada and has no daytime running lights
Josh some Canadian built cars are made for US sale like your mums civic and therefore would be exempt from the Canadian laws with vehicle safety.
Yes. Love country junk yards.
does the AC work? nice old truck
I love this truck
DRLs were a fleet option on Fords so maybe it was ordered for fleet, might explain some of the other irregularities too. Build quality at Oakville Ont wasn't the best so it may of been mis-assembled. The door jamb sticker is different than my Canadian built F-150 as it list built to US standards and no importer data. My 2001 is a tad bit different inside, they only came in gray or tan and the odometer is digital, come to think about it the previous generation of Ford pick-ups had digital odometers so I would say yours is a bit odd.
