Thank you so much for using such a straightforward approach to explain something which is anything but easy. 👏👍

Another very helpful tutorial and on a topic many hobbyists have a tough time with-horses. I only wish you could drop a video every day!!

I am glad the video is useful for you. Would be nice to have more regular videos but real life is always in the way!

Really effective brushwork there! And a useful tip with the Elf Flesh for dry-brushing. I've always used whites for that, and many of these are too stark. Your use of a flesh tone for that is just right.

Thanks. I am quite happy that I discovered the Elfic Flesh drybrush trick. It works incredibly well on a lot of colours. Adds a nice dusty effect too.

Can't believe you've just posted this! I've got two boxes of Perry's French Hussars I only opened yesterday and needed a few tips how to get the horses done in a reasonable time!!! Your timing is impeccable lol! Mind you, got to admit I've overdone it on the cavalry for my British and French Peninsular armies... was gonna be an infantry division of each inf and a cavalry heavy and light Brigade of each. Gonna end up with 3 heavy cavalry Rgts for the french and 2 Rgts of Hussars, 1 Chass. a Cheval Rgt and 1 Polish Lt Lancer Rgt.... for the Brits I'm gonna end up with 2 Hvy Dragoon Rgts, 2 Lt Dragoon Rgts and 2 Hussar Rgts... on the bright side; the 28mm Rose garden is gonna look very healthy!!! thanks for all the painting tips you've done on Napoleonics, I use them all the time.

      A happy coincidence!
I have three units of chasseurs to paint (Italian and Neapolitan) for my XI corps 1813 project. I then have hussars, lancers, chasseurs, cuirassiers and carabiniers in boxes needing painted up too. Nothing quite like biting off more than you can chew.

They are a challenge. I find that if you can avoid blotches of overdone washes they come out well enough for the table, especially at three feet away!

@@iainthepict55 dipping can be pretty effective for churning them out.

Did you give the shabraque a wash in soft tone as well?
