Whilst I enjoy the racing, there's something special about roaming endlessly around these virtual highways like a regular, law-abiding person. I find it very therapeutic, a great moment to put some music in the background and just drive, and think. The traffic makes is so much better.

for me this map is like perfect virtual world for car guys, you could just cruise around and when someone pass by you can catch up and race with them
May have to finally jump into AC now that they have basically recreated Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero in it. Probably one of my all time favorite games of the past.
I was thinking that watching this video this is basically Tokyo extreme racer zero remastered, a game that every petrol head loved. Just wish console offered this!
@@lozza936 Yeah i've been hoping for a new Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero remake or new game forever. Probably my most accomplished feeling ever was beating all 400 rivals.

Back in 2020 I came across your original video about SRP and got hooked to it ever since. Although I always was a car enthusiast, I only played racing games casually but with both my parents having caught covid and a business on the verge of bankrupcy, I found myself in need of something to calm myself, and driving on SRP allowed me a few moments of peace.
Fast forward to now and both my parents are well, my company came out of covid stronger than ever and I'm a moderator of the server and one of the people who take care of the car pack.
So thank you for showing us this wonderful mod, and I'm sure that a bright future lies ahead for us all.

I really love assetto just wish it didn't take up so much space with mods even when compressed, also my friends don't play racing games let alone have a wheel and everything but it's still fun solo with all the traffic. I have over 3,000 miles on shutoko and I still haven't seen every part of the map. I really hope Kunos makes it easy for mod developers and teams to port over old existing mods to Assetto Corsa 2.

@@fkutw4tt3rtub3 srp is over 190km/115 miles. I don't drive the map to explore every time, I do a lot of street racing around the same made-up circuits.
This mod teleports me to late 90 early 2000's to Tokyo, when JDM culture was at its peak. Its something that all car enthusiast should feel and try
One limitation which I don't think can be changed, you don't get to take any car you want you have to choose from a prechosen list, which is fine, but it would feel more like a car meet if you could be surprised by people's car models
This is such a good mod. I have been on those roads with a friend that lives there. And have just driven the route he took by memory. Real nostalgia trip.
This is awesome I love to see you upload a half an hour video or something like that of you driving around
also, sometimes at nigth, the ghost truck appears and bullys people. 11/10 mod

What I like in these kind of servers is that you're just cruising out of nowhere then someone just powerslide so gracefully in front of you.

What PP-filter are you using? These reflections in the wet look amazing!!
Now if modders could implement body kits... engine upgrades, suspension etc... Make it feel like NFS but with the realistic handling. God that's my dream and it's almost there!

I was just wondering how SRP doing as I haven't check on them for a long time. This very well put together video just the perfect summary everyone needed.
I remeber playing this a while ago in VR, it is a great mod. I had a Supra in real life at that time and it did feel somewhat accurate.
Uhhh I haven't done AC in a long time and I'm a VR user.
I think I need to fire it all back up for this.
I see you linked the SRP stuff. What were the other mods I need for weather and such?
The "must have" mods are Content Manager, Custom Shaders Patch and Sol - I've got my own install guide for it all on my channel or you can follow the link in the description for the SRP install guide! There's a lot of new stuff they'll add and it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but it really does add a TON to the experience and you actually need them to play on certain servers.
check out sir spats gaming channel here on yt. he got tutorials for as good as everything AC.

Been playing Import Turner Challenge made by Genki. Talking to people at parking areas and getting info on rival drivers/teams...the battle system. If they can implement that battle system and campaign mode with this mod...that would be awesome. Wangan Midnight
Bought assetto just for this and R34. Installed sky filter, 900hp 34, put some music and slam the gas. I ll buy oculus 2 just for this too.its something else
I can only recommend it, its amazing and the sounds are insane!
this server is one of the main reasons i wanna get a wheel i hope i can get one eventually
If you’ve already got the pc and everything, in a pinch a g29 Logitech wheel will still be fun, but if you can hold out for a belt driven thrust master wheel, definitely do.

Just make sure it’s mounted on something that has no movement side to side, get your wheel settings dialled and you’ll get to enjoy this mod.
I’ve put thousands of hours of drifting on my g29 and it’s got its quirks, shifters done for but it keeps on trucking.

Spent a solid 2-3 hours just driving. Driving like a responsible person and following road rules... until another player speeds by, where I'll just dump the clutch and start a chase.
Theres something so therapeutic about this, being able to drive without the consequences of paying for fuel or an expensive JDM car and let alone on the Highways of Japan.
If there is a distant wish (which probably wont be possible with current tech) is for the roads to seamlessly connect to the mountain roads. Just do a solid road trip using the highways to Mt Hakone or Taikan or Akane, scale the mountains and back, then road trip back to Tokyo. Its wishful thinking and likely not possible with the sheer size of it but one can dream.
If you want the mountain experience you can hop on to Touge Union servers. They have great Touge maps based on Japan meant for drifting around and racing

The buildings are real and exist in real life, by the way. I used to live in Tokyo and can drive by the old office on the way to Shibuya / Roppongi!!
man.. I wish we had something like this for the "RIDE" games as I'm more a motorcycle guy... I would love a mod like this one with my bike.
That shaking the further you are from the maps center is something I noticed in beamng, I set a car to run on cruise control at highway speed to get mpg, by the time it was done I was 70 miles out and the car was vibrating

The fact that this project is free mod to an existing racing game is insane. If the SRP servers were all that the game was, I would definitely pay for that.

My PC would burst into flames when i try this version of Shutoko, with the traffic, 53 players and my Index.
Truly a great review a mix of brilliant points this may be one of the best experiences you could have with your pants on
I am almost at 1000 hrs on Assetto and most of that is SRP or Touge Life. :)
Looks like I'll be needing to update my mods, www. This is looking great. Can honestly say that I learned most of the loop in this mod before I started driving the actual thing. Just looks like its getting better and better!

We're expecting Assetto Corsa 2 in 2024. It will be very interesting to see what happens to SRP then ... Assuming the game supports modding still I'd hope for a port over to AC2 if the game ends up being good.
Man it sucks that we can't have this on consoles...Imagine if Gran Turismo had the balls to do something like this.
Great vid, I could never get the traffic to work back in the day, I will definitely try this again now that is seems to be more polished! Are there Gran Turismo or Forza style replay cameras available to watch back afterwards??

This mod is the sole reason why I picked up AC and getting into sim racing. I miss Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, even the Xbox version. This is promising.

Great video thanks, what Map app do you use? The one in the top right? Is it just the vanilla app in Assetto?
Motion blur on the sides would be a good thing to introduce I feel. While focusing on the road, the sides are always blurred and it will make it even more realistic.
I mean you can enable it easily in CSP Launcher. Albeit it is a bit taxing i must say

This is really exciting, I enjoyed Tokyo Xtreme Racer on Dreamcast and PS2.
This is easily the most fun i've had in a racing game, it's the best mod for any game i've ever played ever

That already exists actually! The driver model is usually linked to the car mod - but for some of the SRP cars the drivers have custom gloves and no helmet!
Edit: you can see custom gloves at around 1:30.

you can change the driver model to which ever one you prefer with a few lines in the extension config file

SRP is fun but I prefer the NO Hesi servers because they offer traffic thats more Dense, it makes the driving even more difficult.
I hope they add the daikoku carpark as well finger cross
Might be a noob question but, have they considered some slight motion blur for the peripheral terrain as it passes your view? It helps the sense of speed a great deal.
Custom Shaders Patch has motion blur options, I think it's possible.

Where is the link for the updated map, I was just playing it till I decided to go on RUclips and your vid popped up I was getting really annoyed with the shakey car at stand still
I've been having some lighting issues regardless of what CSP i use. There is no lighting in streets & in tunnels. This has been an issue in my SRP game for a while, which is why i haven't been playing it, when i installed a while back, everything worked fine, until i changed something, but, can't remember what i did.
could be some files are missing, I would reinstall Content manager and csp perhaps?

God I miss Tokyo Xtreme Racer soooo much. Such a shame that modern racing games are so expensive to make and licenses kill all chances of small racing games like that to even exist nowadays :(
They need to use this to bring make Tokyo extreme racer. That's all this reminds me of and I miss that game. I emulate it on my PC but there should be a new one.
As someone who doesn't know anything about sim racing or AC - can you switch to a right-hand-road mode with traffic?
On the installation video you linked there looks like there is no traffic if you will, does the traffic only work on the server and not just in a single race?

Maybe i should level up my wheel and pedal setup, as well as pick up this game as the mod keeps getting better. Because man do i miss the NFS Underground 2 days of just cruising the streets before letting loose the engine and rocket through traffic.

The only mods I have are the standard 3: CM, CSP and Sol. Pretty much every graphics option is maxed/turned up. PP filter is natural mod. I never had a mod list in the description but that's all there is!

Big free roam maps has to be standard for AC2... this is the real vocation of it

Would you want a racing game with:
Bad graphics = Good physics
Good graphics = Bad physics
This game can be heavily modified to look way better than in the video. Just depends how good of a pc is being used

Is there any chance you could share your Neck FX and FOV settings? Looks super realistic!
I actually play in VR so I don't really mess with FOV or use neckfx at all! This is a flatscreen recording of me playing in VR with whatever default fov is and neckfx off. I just adjust seat position and go from there, I think default fov is around 55?
Edit: I do have the "lock camera to horizon" setting on in the game settings
