When i read you're an architect i couldnt believe it....im also an architect but couldnt find the passion in this profession...been very depressed because it for years, thoughed i missed the meaning of my life by choosing the wrong profession and that i cant do anything to change it. Thank you for this! In my case I just realized again after an awful interview that my purpose in life is definitely Not to be trapped feeling numbed in a low-management position. Money cannot be my only driver. It certainly is not. I’m reborn. I’m studying now for a couple new options, one of them is teaching. That really is one of my passions!
I just discovered Ken today after watching a short Instagram clip from his TED talk.
The man's ability to hold the audience's attention with his brilliant wit, humour, and case studies is beyond amazing!!!

back when I was in college I was at my lowest point int life and more lost and depressed than ever Sir Ken Robinson’s talks were all I watched. It allowed me to realize that we are all special in our own way, and to never allow myself to feel less than. I’m so sad to hear of his passing because he is one of the people I would have love to meet in person.
Thank you for sharing that. I’m just now discovering him, unfortunately also discovering that he’s no longer with us.

So sorry to hear Ken has passed away. This man was such a true inspiration who could so clearly articulate the real purpose of education. Education should be about teaching kids to be creative and to love to learn, so they actively want to be lifelong learners.
The concept isn't new. Kierkegaard said "The greatest form of despair is to live a life other than your own." But, Ken's way of present it is fresh and wonderful.
Socrates once famously said "An unexamined life is not worth living". To which of course I replied: "How the hell would you know?"
@@Albimar17 LOL Well, I can tell you from personal experience that the "examined" life is much more satisfying and in the long-run more beneficial to others.
The ubiquitous cover bands with millions of vicarious music stars is the greatest form of despair multiplied exponentially around the world for decades. If that's not a specter of our impending doom, nothing is.
I discovered him on 15 Sept 2020. He passed away on 21 August 2020. What a shame I totally missed him. What a great personality.

To my pint my dep comes from missing my family...
They would know without doubt that by 2020, the second largest cause of mortality among human beings would be depression, as they have spent years planning it all out. So far it's all going swimmingly for them. The whole world is in Rockefeller's 2010 lockstep, lock-down, muzzled up to the eyeballs and socially distanced. Wonder what the wonderful Sir Ken would make of all this.

@@veganvivjones4655 His "short battle against cancer" was only lost in August 2020, so he did see a lot of it happening, including the covid-narrative bent and used against people by their elected governances all around the world.
Just fact checking: according to pre-COVID statistics, the largest cause of mortality is heart disease, and the second largest is cancer. I have found the claim on the WHO website, but I don't know what they're talking about.
I just stumbled upon this remarkable man. What a legacy he will leave behind. Although he is gone, he will go on helping many others. Thank you, sir!

I just found Ken tonight by accident and liked him straight away. Everything he talks about in this engaging, funny and enigmatic talk resonates with me. I have just read that Ken passed away peacefully yesterday and I am deeply saddened. Education needs an advocate for change and a complete shake up and I hope that you have set the wheels in motion Ken Robinson. RIP beautiful man...

Sir Ken’s main teaching circulates around being a success in your own life and not in other eyes. Not what you own, how much you make or who you know, but are you feeling more subtle joy than other feelings in your daily life.
One amazing guy .. gifted orator ... compassionate man .. now hear we have lost him too . He will be missed .
I completely can relate, when he said, if you do poorly in school, people think you're dumb.

I happened across Sir Ken's talks on TED. He is such an eloquent speaker. Just like he says in this talk, An hour can seem like 5 minutes when you listen to him speak with such passion and sense. His work on changing the school education system itself shows his passion. Recently, changes in my work area (I'm in a bank and was part of the Retail business, heading the Payment Cards Business and now have moved into Training Delivery and Talent Development) have shown me how working in your element can change how you look at life. I am doing now what I am passionate about and loving every opportunity I get. As always, thank you Sir Ken for inspiring us to seek out our passion and be what we were meant to be!

A monumental thinker, one of a kind; in the same league as Hemingway and Plato. The questions he tackles are most fundamental and thoughtprovoking. I have been listening to Sir Ken Robinson's talk for a couple of years. I especially love the ones on his theories of education. He is a pleasure to listen to...and then while you are laughing he sneaks in the powerful and life giving, positive messages.
Wonderful man, he just speaks common sense and sanity and just reflects what I think.
So sad to know he has died, he could have given a lot more for more years...
As someone who struggles a bit with character typologies, think he's bang-on when he says 'learn form them, but don't let them imprison you! (Certainly true with the enneagram which I think the system is flawed, but great character insights)

40:00 This it! The power of attitude is often what distinguish people when bad thing happen. What inspirational man and speech.
In her later years my mum started to live her life in fear and she still does. It upsets me so much. She is in her late 70s, my dad is in his early 80s and they are both of good health, financially secure, and with nothing to worry about re: me and my brother who both have stable, happy lives. They have both had a brush with cancer and came through it and even that didn't give her a new lease of life. She's been to only 3 countries in the world her entire life, whereas my dad travelled extensively for his job. They don't have holidays, they never travel anywhere, ever. My dad probably would like to but she pumps him with fear that "something might happen to him" medically so it's "safer to stay at home", plus he knows he can't force her to travel anywhere without a screaming match.
I have also travelled as much as possible and each time I tell her where I'm going to next she immediately pours fear on it - the plane might crash/hijack/kidnap/mugging/rape/robbery. Never once has she said "oh lovely, have a wonderful time" like everybody else does. She states categorically that "the world isn't a nice place any more" yet she has no experiences to back this up, she judges the entire world from her TV, the news and the Daily Mail. Yes, parts of the world are shitty, but so much of it is wonderful and totally worth seeing. I do not understand what life event happened to her to make her like this and I have made sure I am the exact opposite of all her opinions. So in some ways her fear has made me who I am. She has so much to be grateful for but can't seem to see it and that's what upsets me. I know I will never change her and I can't help but feeling so much of her life hasn't been lived fully. This was her choice but personally I find it a huge shame. It's difficult to visit her because it's just hours of negativity and moaning that sit like an anvil on my shoulders but I also can't just walk away from it all. She is the epitome of "a life lived in fear is a life half lived". She never encouraged me into any career as she assumed I'd have kids and stay at home. I floated some career aspirations to her as a teen and she poured negativity over them and I allowed that to stall my ambitions, which I will forever regret. Parents can do so much damage to their kids' dreams so it's wonderful to hear stories of parents who encourage them instead.
Don't be like my mum. Get out there, travel, meet people, try different hobbies - you may be crap at some but you'll never know until you try, and one of them may turn into your lifes passion. I have dived shipwrecks, paraglided with vultures, wingwalked on a Stearman, seen a Solar Eclipse in America, been on TV, walked the red carpet at a European Movie Premiere, met movie stars, and sat in Monument Valley at 4am under the most glittering, beautiful sky of stars I've ever seen. I will keep travelling and chasing my dreams until my dying breath. RIP Sir Ken.

Thank you Dr Ken Robinson. I found my element in my catering, even though my family had theirs. I was asked to inherited it but declined. I felt their model was based on not what I felt what I wanted to cook. I worked and worked for minimum wage job, Domino driver while testing my food on everyone. Life was not easy. However my wife was supportive. After saving for tools and machines. My passion was felt but a manager of a local office. Im now cooking for them. It will lead to better thing. Never lose hope, and having the tools ready when the chance comes. RIP sir!
Many teachers at last, because of Covid 19 and remote teaching, have helped millions of students to find their hidden talents through transforming their classes from instruction to creative differentiated activities. Through this, students have had opportunities to discover what they CAN do and, even better, their families have helped them and seen them flourish. I know it's not happened everywhere, of course, but where it has happened it is striking.
Regrettably, I suspect that most of the brick-and-mortar school teachers have no clue of the opportunity that was handed to them.

Never have I heard someone say exactly what I’ve been feeling for the past 4 years. I’m existing but not really living. Sir Ken Robinson’s talks are such a healing gift I wished he was still alive today.

Found my element at age 8 years old. Lived it every day my entire life, made it my livelyhood and career. Retired 14 years ago but am still working in my element and intend to do so until I'm no longer able. I believed I planned everything but life evolved around me unexpectedly. Took every opportunity and enjoyed the good and the bad. Attitude is everything and perseverance it's partner.
By far one of the most engaging presenters I've ever encountered. I've bought all his book. Truly life changing
I just came across this video today and found that I could listen to Sir Ken indefinitely. He was so authentic, inspirational, and funny. At the end of the video, I scrolled down to get more information, and the first comment I saw said that Sir Ken passed away about a month ago. I am profoundly saddened. I will definitely be watching any of his other videos that I can find, as well as reading his books. Thank you, Sir Ken, for finding your element and sharing it with us.

Thank you for sharing phenomenal speech of Sir Ken Robinson. I plan to recommend it to others, as it is well worth giving much attention for those whom have an interest in their daily study time. It will inspire, impact and possibly change your life, or at least your mindset in someway of your beliefs or thoughts about others aptitudes; IQ, EQ and yes, even LQ.
As an employee thrilled to assist older age communities in the health and well-being industry, of all wealth of thoughts shared, the following comment hit a cord…

Every day we have an opportunity by our words, actions or deeds to positively, or adversely impact someone… Our Walk is Our Talk.
When we meditate on God’s Word we can hear His Voice, audibly if we read the Bible out-loud 😉, and when we take on His instructions our lives begin to bring forth light, even though we see through a glass dimly as imperfect beings.
The Holy Spirit is our helper, providing us guidance and direction, so we can begin to understand our soul more intimately, and we begin living earnestly in righteousness - acting in accord with Divine or Moral Law: free from guilt or sin.
A life directed by God’s Word, and Christ who gives us abundant grace, will lead us further forward into transformation. That is when we can begin entering into the knowledge of being in our element, our daily activities for which we are passionate - Our Calling aka Our Purpose - when the unplanned possibilities occur and sometimes take our breath away.
It’s a kind of happiness, peace, contentment, and an inner power based upon giving up our own life to live for Christ. That is when God further ignites and empowers our soul, our physical vessel, to best express absolute truth and outwardly His love for one another.
Lord, help us today to be transparent, genuine and authentically an example of You, to be intentionally interested in doing good 🙂vs. being an outright ‘ouch’ 🤕to our fellow man. Renew us each morning, as Students in this Lifetime set our perspectives and passions rightfully altered, and enable us to be fully present, prepared, connected and satisfied at each day’s end. And, help us Jesus to learn (understand) that we must decrease, so that You can increase in our everyday lives. 🙏

I just discovered Ken Robertson last night because this video was suggested by RUclips. What an absolute treasure he is/was as I immediately looked up his birthdate to discover his ‘element’ through 9 StarKi and the Chinese Elements. And sadly, my research had me discover that we have lost this brilliant man only during this last week.
What a loss his passing is to our chaotic world right now. Yet I will be watching more of his wonderfully inspiring videos and allow his ‘element’ to support me to contribute more with living from mine. ❤️
You do not need his birthdate for his element!
Altho he means element in a different state, you don't need any birth paraphernalia -just observation - if you are intuitive with character, it is easy, so much as people are being themselves: it is is even cleaner than Myers Briggs...
Basically:~
Wood is the Active Doer, has a lot of purpose and decisiveness. Into power and not being hemmed in; Needs to be strong (& Push through blocks), has tendencies to be aggressive. Would like to be Leader. Rebellious. Courageous.
Fire is the child~ charming, endearing, playful, emotionally changeable and looking for closeness and love, but also adventure and fun. Colourful. Expressive. But can lack depth &/or stability.
Earth is the Mother - caring, concerned; soft-hearted, kind and gentle… Easy-going & relaxed but also worrying -that is based on being pensive, more than anxiety.
Metal is the sensitive striver for rightness: deeply sensitive (which no one can see); wanting to improve and/or see Perfection, Needs to see Beauty, Quality, but it has to be real, authentic.
Is Serious; private; diligent… Is very aware that life can be sad & imperfect - and tries/wants/works hard to change that!
Water is the watcher, the collector of evidence and knowledge, the independent but instinctual... survivor. Is curious, & somewhat detached, withdrawn Observer; perceptive. Phlegmatic... Cautious and unsure, untrusting - must have Clarity!

The world is a little less for him not being here. We are eternally greatful for the gift that is Sir Ken, may he always Rest In Power/Perfection. When I hear him speak in his way all man made concepts strip away and its almost like hearing the universe speak unbiased of any concept or notion. Just truths, in a fun kind of way and humorous!
