Ethan, lawd you need yourself a good daddy bf. I'm surprised you haven't found you a good man, you are super sweet. Hey have you ever went down to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina? Lots of camping grounds. You could then be at the Beach, might be a fun fun place. Of course we have neato national forests in South Carolina and North Carolina. I love your videos, you are just a super nice guy and super handsome guy. Take care and fun travels man!

Regarding the propane door, it looks like you have a door clip attached to the right edge of your refrigerator vent. Lift up the bottom edge of that clip, and open your propane door all the way and that clip will latch to the edge of door and hold it open.

    • @Chimel31
      @Chimel31 9 месяцев назад +2

Not sure if it's a door clip or a simple magnet, but yeah, I would imagine that something has been designed to hold this door. I just don't think Ethan cares much about it though, a self-standing door is not as fun. 😄

There are so many ways to economize when living in a small space, with limited utilities. I have an uncle who had a motor home , and did not use his water heater in a conventional way. He put an incandescent light bulb inside the area where the water heater was, and the heat from the light warmed the water in the water heater, saving on propane…(I’m not saying it was very warm, but it wasn’t cold.) he also conserved water with the “wet, soap, rinse” method, which used less water.
Definitely cleaning as you go keeps the small space feeling good to you. And everything you can keep to a minimum will save on fuel, as weight will bring down your mileage somewhat.
And it’s hard enough to keep a place tidy with one person, so two or more can really tax the living space.
    Thanks for the unglamorous tour!❤❤

Fortunately Peaches is a short haired dog, which reduces the dust she'll track in, as well as less of a shedding hair. issue I adopted a 2nd dog as a puppy to give my small short haired dog companionship. The puppy turned into a fairly large dog, and she loves being outside, but also loves to frequently coming back into the house. It is unbelievable the amount of dirt and debris she manages to bring in with her feet and on her fur,. I also guess coming through the doggie door may release a lot of the dirt into the air of my house and deposit it everywhere too. She sheds a lot too, and I really don't how she isn't bald with the amount of hair that accumulates on the floor everyday. I envy you living in a camper, because it's so much less to clean. Be safe and I wish you the best.

I've watched a lot of RVing channels (just nerdy fascination) and at no time was I ever attracted to getting on the road, mostly because it looked like a lot of work and I'm fundamentally lazy. I love the honesty of your reporting of your journey Ethan. And in a sense, you are a reporter. Whatever else you do, that's a service to society that I admire. Also, I think your camera work is very good. It doesn't really matter what country you're in they've all been good because it's your take on it that makes it interesting.

Seems like you purchase many of the same products I get at Walmart too. It's neat how you're such a handyman and don't wait around for someone to help you out. This is when you discover factory builds are not designed for full time.
A few vacations a year and even then they are only used for sleeping breakfast and occasional other meals.
Yes fixtures and fittings begin to soon break.
My advice from across the pond.
Find a mini bus or similar as they come ready lined and with windows and do a self build.
Start with just the bare necessities, live in the space as you build so you can design it very specifically to your needs.

Hey Ethan, FYI we have a travel trailer and this summer we had a Tankless Water Heater installed. It uses LP for heating and runs off the 12V system. As soon as you turn on the hot water you have as much as you need so long as you have fuel and power. We also noted that it takes less fuel to operate than water heaters with a tank. It was worth every penny of the $500 to buy the appliance and $200 to have it installed. We have run out of hot water or had to take a shower without and your cold shower prompted us to share with you. I hope this is a help for you!

Traveling in a camper by yourself looks like a lot of work just to keep everything shipshape. May I suggest if you're travelling on a major truck route is to locate the truck stops that have showers so you can have a hot shower when you have to stop for fuel or provisions. Perhaps you should use external latches on the cabinets to keep them shut. Maybe consider folding the clothes in the laundromat before you cart them back to the van. It might be easier. Also get one of those strong mesh bags to put your dirty laundry in and carry them back.

If those wood screws ripped out of the particle board, reinserting them will probably not hold. It would be helpful to dip them in wood glue before reinserting, or use larger screws.

Hi Ethan, thanks for sharing this video. I was just wondering why you don't reuse the plastic water bottles you bought and just also refill them where you fill up your big water tank? When I was traveling around Arizona and Utah, I always has like 3 or 4 of those gallons in my car and I would fill them up whereever I could (mostly at the entrace of visitors centers or at campsites). It's cheaper than to have to buy new bottles all the time and it's also better for the environment. Curious what you think of this. Enjoy the ride!

Hey Ethan, I love your videos, especially the way you carefully choose your words to avoid saying something awkward. 😁
In regards to the bags you use to carry your laundry, have you thought about using the free-standing collapsible laundry bags? I've found them to be very convenient, and they collapse away to about nothing when I don't need them. And maybe a small support bar to hold the door open while you change out the propane tanks?
    Happy trails!!

FYI: If your wood screws on your doors will not reattach, just stick a wooden match stick or a small twig in the hole, break off even with the outside surface, and then the screws can now be tightened and will hold the hinges like new.

That was great, thankyou, Ethan! I love Peaches - he's such a sweetie. I once hired a motorhome and drove around the North Island of NZ, with my partner. I remember all the annoying things one has to do each day, but the worst part was the uncountable times I knocked my head in the front (driving) section, but also occasionally in the main cabin: I didn't learn to avoid it until the last morning! Ha-ha. At one stage I was in one of the 4 northbound lanes of the northern Auckland motorway, heading towards the Bay of Islands, and the wind was so strong it was making me weave. Upon arrival at a small town in Northland I inspected the crockery, and amazingly nothing had broken! Thanks again. (you're super-cute, too, lol ;)

Great DITL video, Ethan. Watching this I was like, "Yup. Yup. Yup." The dust and pet hair, constant cleaning and sweeping, making the bed and tidying because the space is so small. Plus all the things that go wrong. Whatever can break, spill, or tumble is going to do just that. And laundry day! The only good thing about that is all the things you can fit in one huge dryer and have them dry in 30 minutes. I still feel it's worth it, though. BTW I recognize the general area in this video. Looking forward to the next one. Safe travels!

Ethan, you seriously need to get a diesel heater. You propane would be back up heat, but mainly for cooking. In my small class c I go 5 months on my propane as I use the diesel heater for heat and have a 12 volt fridge(solar). Diesel heaters are cheap, just ordered another $97 total. The amount of money you spend on propane will kill you. I have a buddy with a small trailer he goes a week on two tanks because everything is propane. Love watching your videos. I'd hel you install the heater if you need help, they're pretty easy. Hope things are going well glad to see you back in the desert southwest.

To reduce the amount of dust that comes into the camper when driving, you should open a small vent on the roof (if there is one). It pulls air in. This means that the vacuum created in the camper is less, therefore, less dust comes in! I used to go camping for years with my parents, and this tricks works wonders with the caravan!

So informative, thank you Ethan. All these things you call chores i call fun because chores are not fun. For instance, lets have fun emptying our black tank, lets have fun getting rid of all the dust accumulating from the road. Let's have fun doing the laundry.
I guess it's a lot like, 'is the glass half empty, or is it half full?"
I guess i want to always keep it half full. Lol
You are giving Peaches the best life a dog can have...kudos to that.
Love watching your vlogs....have fun in everything you do & stay safe!

The mounting hole on the broken cupboard is now damaged, and will not hold well by just putting the screw back in. You need to fill these holes with wood filler, and use wood screws then screw the door to the hinge. Also, to make quick use of cleaning the glass, use a small version of the gas station windshield cleaner tool, rather than a paper towel. I've found that using a cheap paint brush and a cleaner, rather than a paper towel for many cleaning jobs is quite fast and effective. All available at any hardware store.

As one that did a lot of camping in my younger days when one tank ran out I always filled it ASAP. Nothing worse than no heat or ability to cook:)

Lovely channel. I would use a cloth laundry bag/s save the plastic. Much more durable and can be washed as well. Get a squeezy and spray bottle for the windows, it works super well and will make that chore a breeze.

Hey Eathan you crazy dude. Wow, so lucky just being able to drive around and park where ever you like. Oh, tip number one. Always always take a double roll of " double sided velcro " with you on trips. You simply cut to the length you need, stick one side down and stick the opposite side onto what ever ( the doors in the campervan that swing open ) use velcro would stop all that. Plus you can use it for hundreds of other DIY projects. Keep camping and keep Safe. * Have you ever thought of visiting Scotland ? You'd love the Scottish highlands... ;-)

You should get a portable water filter adapter, for the end of your hose hook-up, to the inlet water utility. I’d be happy to donate, so you can obtain one. It just makes your water consumption that much safer.

I came across your videos while scrolling through RUclips looking for ideas for an under bench rabbit hutch. Nothing about rabbit hutches but, still very informative. I live in a small vintage hard side popup (Apache Ranger) but recently have been considering a truck camper. Watching 2 of your videos has changed that consideration into a definite! What is the model of your camper? Ask because the bathroom and shower really sold me on it.

I just came across this video, 1st one I've watched of you, Ethan.
You're doing an adventure similar to what I did years ago with zero regrets.
    One word of advice.
Always, and I mean always be aware of your surroundings wherever you go. There's no need to be paranoid. Just be aware. Be safe, happy adventures on your travels!!

I live full time in an RV. I'm camping all the time. It's defiantly a different life style.

I never use my RV's toilet without a plastic bag to poop, and I pee outside or use a bottle. I prefer using a camping toilet outside than inside the RV. And as for showers and dish washing, I use a tub for a sponge bath or for washing dishes, the tub's waste water dumped on a bush or tree. The poop in the bag either gets flushed away at another rest room nearby, or deeply buried using a shovel. There are too many nasty chemicals with a portable potty, and using a RV's black tank...

If you get a membership to a gym (chain like 24hr Nautilus)... you could use their showers, which are probably warmer and you can stay in the shower as long as you'd like without worrying about running out of water, using propane to heat it or having to drain it later.

Loved all your Thai videos. I learned at least some of many languages, from around the world, including Thai. Thanks to my dear late father who pampered me. I had a nanny and so much more. Too long to explain. Anyway, getting back to Thai. His late Majesty the previous King of Thailand gave my some language lessons decades ago. I took up languages from Africa, Europe, the Middle and far East and from elsewhere. Just for fun. I have always had a large domestic, and foreign flag collection. I'm friends with the Shah of Iran and many other Royals since I was young. His Majesty gave me permission to fly his Royal flag. Anyway, I'm sure you have hobbies and likes as well. There's simply too much to say. Sorry.
