- Residents of a Highland Park neighborhood have been inundated with unwanted fast food deliveries from Uber Eats arriving at all hours of the day, spurring an investigation from the food delivery company. FULL STORY: abc7.com/uber-eats-highland-p...
I was taught not to eat stuff strangers give you.
even halloween candies?
Even crack
oh yeah, I wouldnt even feed it to my dog.
But if your homeless and starving that would be very hard .
Not going to lie, a Uber eats dropped off some boba tea and popcorn chicken by accident. Checked at both neighbors late night to see if it was theres but no one answered. 😂
I would not eat food that mysteriously showed up on my doorstep.
Yeah who knows I would not even touch it
Same
99% of the restaurants seal the bags so they can't be tampered with.
Sealed bags, who cares go ahead and toss it out
Exactly it could be poisonous.
It’s either a good deed or fraud. I remember one time doing UberEats and delivering to an abandoned building. The delivery wasn’t “leave at door” it was “meet at door” no one was there. I texted and call and it went straight to voicemail. Then another delivery person came and looked confused holding a box of pizza. The timer went off and I left with the order. While leaving I see another delivery person waiting confused that pulled up. This is sometimes a way for scammers to test cards. Anyways this video just sounds wholesome lol 😂
I was thinking this is fraud somehow
Oh wow this happened to me as an Ubereats driver and I got so scared someone set me up to rob me. The house was obviously empty and not in use and so I dropped it off and got the heck out of there
@@monicarenee7949 I could definitely understand that if it was an abandoned house I would stay in the car especially late at night in some bad areas meet a door feels like a setup sometimes lol
Def fraud
They doing it bc its a vegan neighborhood
I never eat random food delivered to my door.
Uhh did anybody consider that somebody could be trying to taunt them for being vegetarian? Do any of them belong to a local Facebook group for vegetarians?
That is a possibility I haven’t considered. But the deliveries do seem random.
probably one of their neighbors
Ahhh…Touche . Very smart idea
@@tohopes It would have to be somebody in their neighborhood who knows all of their home addresses. That's why Facebook or Nextdoor groups should be considered. It also has to be somebody mildly wealthy to afford all these meal deliveries just for a laugh.
yo but they ordered over 100 meals like thats so much money just to troll your neighbor
DEFINITELY A DELIVERY DRIVER… WHAT’S CRAZIER IS YOU STILL ATE THE FOOD! SOMETHING YOU DIDN’T ORDER… COULD’VE EASILY BEEN POISONED. WHO DROPS OFF FREE FOOD? THAT ALONE WOULD’VE MADE ME TRASH IT…
What about the person who ordered the food, not definitely on the driver side. It could be prank or put in the wrong street address.
@@bvarino100197 that many times? no way it's a prank or just an accident
@BattamG Well, it can be prank most likely from next-door neighbor who made account for it order ton food for them.
likely a new type of robbery casing scenario - good way for a burglar to case a neighborhood and tell what days/time someone is/and is not home without looking suspicious themselves! but yes, mystery food at your door, trash it or call police to have it tested = but the fact the company doesn't have a verification method for customers - leaving food on the streets can become a vermin issue overnight.
@@peterlongprong7521 they do for some customers and they have to verify the digit pin to the delivery person
In this day of fentanyl and tranq, no way would I ever eat that!
...or even touch the bag - the fact those idiots took mystery food off the streets into their home and consumed it without a 2nd thought is mind-shockingly stupid of them. Gawd this country has turned naive, no critical thinking.
Why? Free fentanyl sounds great!
Deliver to the neighborhoods that need it the most and to the folks and veterans living on the streets. This could also be the "no tip no trip" scenario where the driver just gives the food to someone else or just eats it.
Or is it prank by the customer
Nope... Unfortunately the blue worry more about sending billions to Ukraine and helping others and not help their own!
As much as I don't consider McD's to be food..... there are hungry people who would be grateful for Uber deliveries.
So if they don't receive a tip, or a good enough tip, they just eat the food? Who is paying for it, sure the customer cancels the order if they do not receive it I don't use any delivery service due to a very restricted diet, just curious.
@@brandyyolidio4213 A few would cancel after getting the food if there is no tip or a dollar tip. Most would still deliver to the customer after accepting the order. Always nice to tip at least 5 dollars to the driver.
What a waste of food when so many people and children are starving in other areas… they could’ve sent it to public high schools where someone kids don’t have anything to eat…
Life ain't fair.
How would they know people wouldn't be there or accept it. Would you eat food from a stranger? Stop being a cry baby. Don't have kids if you can't support them.
Businesses waste way more food then these few folks that live in that small neighborhood
they should mail it to Africa.
Sadly those who run the country help Ukraine and others while Americans go without even school kids...
First of all….I’m NOT eating ANYTHING that I didn’t order and was just mysteriously left on my door step. WTH is wrong with people?!
but you gon smoke weed from some bum down the street that gives a discount???

@@jonnyfendi2003 Facts.
Depends on where you live. If I lived In the states I probably wouldn't lol
Maybe you should comprehend how UberEats works first before you comment.
Some lady in my facebook community page also said someone had delivered a free meal to her son while she was in the hospital getting surgery. She was okay with it because they fed her hungry teenage son.
Well yeah, that was probably someone she knew doing a kind deed.
There's context to that story at least. With this one, numerous people with 20-40 meals showing up randomly is strange.
That sounds more likely, like a good samaritan.
I'm not eating anything I did not order.
Reminds me of this thing I saw on Bright Side, where people leave a cookie under your doormat. If they check it and see it's crumbled, you're home. Otherwise, youre not and it either way means youre a marked target for thievery. There's also one where they leave a dollars bill under your windshield wiper. Be careful everybody
@Maple Bacon It means you're one dollar richer. Put it in your wallet, go to deposit it in your bank then...get robbed...lol. Jk...idk and I'm curious too about what the windshield wiper dollar means.
Lmao. Saw that on BOSCH! Jerry Edgar got shot while he checked the dollar. It makes you a stable target from afar.
If you arrive at your car and check it, it means you're distracted long enough to get mugged or something. Maybe they'll follow you too. All the reason to drive to a police station
Could be laced with drugs, fentanil. Never know these days with all the crazies.
🤔That you for some new tricks
Bet they didn’t complain when it was Starbucks
Nah fr😂😂😂
Probably not. Just complaining about having to pay for their student loans.
Maybe it's someone who despises vegetarians trying to tease or tempt these vegetarians with meat?
It’s more like tease because you can’t tempt a vegetarian to eat meat. It’s gross, especially microwaved processed food stuff.
The real question is how would they know they’re vegetarians to begin with? If that’s true, then those people have bigger things to worry about than random food at their door 😂
@@soapa4279 If one of the neighbors knew most folks around are vegetarians, then the culprit can easily be a neighbor doing it as well.
@@mrxxbrian Yeah, overall it's super unusual and fishy though
My theory: Somebody is trying to help an UberEats driver out. The driver is in some sort of hardship but too proud to accept help, so a kind person is giving them a boost by creating lots of business for them. Are these meals delivered around the same time every day? Could that be a certain driver's shift, and Highland Park their delivery area?
Theories are welcome
i think the driver himself is helping himself to 10+ deliveries which he dumps on the same block, a quick hours work to launder stolen credit card money into legit UberEats paycheck....
It's definitely credit card fraud. They put through a small purchase just to make sure the card is active.
i think you are right
But one lady said she got nearly 30 McDonald's orders so unless they used 30 different credit cards...you may be right.
@@femmebrulee5053yeah and in one neighborhood
No, it's easier to buy a small item at store. But it does sound like a prank.

Not that this is happening, but as a doordash driver i once went to a street of town homes where they were all numbered 1-7. I had to deliver to house number 7 on this street. Simple enough. When i got to the house there was already a identical order on the porch. I dropped it and left. Then the customer called me and said they didn’t get it. Long story short it was supposed to go to the 7 house, seven doors down. There were three houses with the #7 address on the same side of the street. And three more on the other side. It was a brand new hosing development so i hope they changed the numbers.
Wow, that is terrible planning. Who would do that?
I used to live in Queens and our addresses are largely numbers. Like, 3452 46th Street and the exact same house number would exist for the other numbered streets, like 3452 45th Street. Misdelivered mail and packages were too commonplace. And we also had numbered avenues and roads. Who does that?
Sounds like the housing development should've added letters... 7A, 7B. Etc
We kept getting deliveries from Starbucks chickfila, mcdonald and canes chicken😂😂at our door. Well our # was the same as the actual house who ordered it but of course it was different street name 🤦♀️ drivers never bothered looking a the street signs!
@@sweetipie1995 you just follow the navigation since you are constantly going to unfamiliar places
My apartment complex is kinda like that. There are 13 buildings on the same street, each with 10 units. Each building is numbered 100, 200, 300, etc. Usually the delivery driver has to call me when delivering an order cos they get so confused.
A "hosing development" sounds about right in this situation. Someone got hosed. 😅
Imagine the amount of privilege you must have if "receiving free food" is your biggest problem.
i mean honestly its weird to give free food to rich people, probably poisoned or something
Free food from a mysterious stranger, what could possibly go wrong?
The double ironic of thinking of privilege in situations where food is just being wasted and should be valued as many people don’t get hot consistent meals around the world
You can eat these nuts.
If anything they could have donated it to a shelter place if didnt want anytime cause didnt order it at time.
Oh my god the puns!! The ridiculous bit of "opening an investigation"! This is some quality light hearted fun coming from a news station. 👏
“hungry for an answer” 😂
Bet they were giggling so hard at that one.
In an unrelated story, UberEATS deliveries for Highland Park, CA were mysteriously not being delivered...
Just look at the credit card used. Maybe a stolen card that hasn't been cancelled.
Happened to me once. I didn’t eat it. Called the restaurant. They said it was me that ordered it, I didn’t. My account was not charged. Definitely weird.
how recently was that?
I want a follow-up. Who's paying for this? It's kinda funny.
It’s a marketing gimmick by McDonald’s
@@germanshepherd6638 Could be.
Someone trying to taunt them for being vegetarians.
Some rich Tik toker already paid for the meal's through Uber eats.

Doesn't anyone have doorbell cameras or some other kind of security?
I don’t answer my door for anyone unannounced & I’d definitely not eat any food dropped off at my front door
Yeah, so I have this theory that I was delivering groceries before and a lady told me. Hey, I didn’t order all this amount of groceries. I mean it was literally loads of groceries and the store employee told me that the system was probably hacked
Even if the system was hacked someone still has to foot the bill, who did the hackers foot the bill to?? Maybe Uber eats is just taking their own losses.
@@mopes2713 the hackers are to blame! They drain the uber drivers account during the confusion & call to uber. They actually hack the app and redirect to their phone number
Maybe they're using the food to determine if you are home or not?
I feel bad for the new Uber eat drivers who probably gonna get fire dropping of the wrong food to the wrong house lol.
If 30 "wrong" orders go to the same address, it's clearly not a mistake and the drivers probably got paid. The real problem is the waste or fraud perpetrated by those placing the orders.
The driver doesn’t get fired for that, they just pick up and drop off where Uber tells them
Watching this video was a big waste of time
FR!!! wasted my time lol no answers
I wouldn't eat anything that I didn't order, or something that just showed up on my door. There are some very disturbed people out there.
Didn't order the food, uber eats can't say who is paying for the food? Why would anyone eat the dood seems like great set up for mass poisoning. Brown bags with stickers how hard could that be to counterfeit ? Something smells fishy, two day old fish fillet?
We need more stories like this!
Im an uber driver and there is so many times someone orders food and they never answer the door or come outside
What happeneds to the food ?
@The snail is coming .. we have an 8 minute timer after contacting the client if no answer or no safe place to drop off and after contacting uber support they suggest you dispose of items or give it away
@@point.made14 Question. I work security for a company and someone dropped off a bag of groceries and left it hanging on one of the card reading door's. It was left there for a whole week. Could I have just taken it home or something. I didn't cause they got camera's but I guess I could have shown up in my personal car. Provided that I wear a face mask first of course.
@Bitemyshinny Metalass this sounds like someone who didn't provide a room number or didn't provide any instructions on how to enter the facility or apartment complex in times like these the most we can do is drop off at the location as instructed. Situations like this bring a lot of misunderstandings and confusion because the customer can complain that they never received the order when in fact they didn't provide any information its not the couriers fault either because they only did as instructed but to answer your question if you see groceries in a unsecure location for over a day i suggest keep it
the theory someone put out about thieves watching to see if it gets picked up, in order to plan a burglary later makes sense. Likely some kids found a way to hack the system and they are doing it as a joke. nobody really wins.
I'd be happy if my Uber Eats driver FINDS MY NOT HIDDEN HOUSE!!!!
Completely bizarre!
As long as a credit card was charged and not disputed this will probably continue.
Not a mystery which guy was NOT the vegetarian; he looked healthy.
Lol
Yea that happens in alot of places tbh... Even in the small city I live in there is 2 houses with the SAME address, only diff is North & South, delivery drivers don't usually check this (at least here) and its usually 4 out of 5 times ordering that we don't get our food... We don't order delivery much anymore due to this, because we don't like gambling.
Well to bad they don't do that for the homeless they really need to eat 🤣
Ya, feed the homeless. More like get them off the streets.
Donate to the homeless :)
My guess is some credit card scammer happens to be using this area as a test for hacked doordash accounts. Placing random orders to see if they go through then probably placing another order to an address where they can actually pick up.
It's Uber Eats not DoorDash.

a rogue AI is testing its real-world delivery abilities
I would be so sus about the food being tampered with!
I’ve had repeated flake outs when ordering from a specific restaurant at night. When waiting I would see the little cartoon car on the map, in my phone app, go past my house, then claim it was delivered (I was sitting by the open door each time). When I called the driver (it was always a young woman, possibly the same person) she would claim she delivered it to where the gps told her to…she seemed sincere, & even a little suspicious of me always calling, & complaining, so I quit using that service at night…no problems during the day with different restaurants, just this one…I have no idea if her gps is faulty, or she’s lying to me, cannot seem to find a way to complain to the service’s main office…(it works out fine with any other restaurant)…

Homeless people need to
I always wish it would go into more detail in these stories. For instance, what do vegetarians do with meat when it's delivered for free? Do they give it to a mediator or they throw it in the garbage?
It's Someone Using their Uber delivery account with a Stolen Uber eats account to accept orders and TIP $50 on each order to themselves with stolen cards. Prob made thousands
Sounds like a blessing
This reminds me of the door dash order in the Idaho 4 case. This is not good
Instead of complaining....just go give it to someone who may actually enjoy it. Sheesh it's a good deed people. Yes you are vegetarian but it's the good intention that matters. How many people out in the street would love that and not complain? You should bless someone instead of cry about it.
