  • A UK Government Minister has quit his job because he can't afford to pay his mortgage.
As inflation and the mortgage crisis continue hitting the UK, a Government Minister on a £118,300 salary has said that it's not enough to pay for his mortgage which increased from £800 to £2,000.
Rishi Sunak and Jeremy Hunt are doing nothing to solve the mortgage problem or turn the economy around as it keeps getting worse.

A 2 bed rental flat in outer London is £2,000 per month. An experienced MP can't afford this on £118k but governs us!! God help us if the rest of the government are like this ... and they are; all of them are detached from reality.

No, what he is saying is that MPs need another 10% pay rise increase inline with inflation whilst everyone else gets nothing or 1.5% max. They do it every year.
The sheep will either vote red or blue thinking there vote makes a difference when in reality the politics already decided with these two main parties. The public are just voting in a pantomime until they wake up....otherwise same ole same ole.

The UK political system needs some changes, as the MP should do more for the people in his constituency and seeks to find a solution to this terrible problem of mortgage payment for the 90% of Britons.
The higher ups in UK government does not have the priority of Britons, as they choose to divert valuable financial resources to Ukraine, instead of helping Britons. We need to change this system of government.

More than likely the minister on 118k has overstretched himself and is in debt! Anyone not being able to pay a mortgage of £2000pm definitely has finance issues! Either mismanages his money or overspends! I can't believe they are unable to find 2000k a month on that kind of salary. They normally have more than one job anyway! Problem is that the more you have leads to ultimate greed!
The idea of having a 99% mortgage is simply crazy! People will be digging themselves into a debt hole! The govt will continue with the Davos agenda and entrap people so that eventually they will have to relinquish their homes! A neat trick - you will own nothing and be happy. In reality you own nothing anyway with a ridiculous 99% mortgage. Noone owns their home until they've paid it off! What a scam! Remortgaging is a ponzi scheme the banksters love to engage in!

We don’t buy clothes every month all we do is exist. We’ve cut everything to the bone I just feel as a bloke like a failure now

I hope/pray for a positive change in your situation. But don't, however hard this seems, feel like a failure. Talk to some mates and see if you can find a creative solution.
Social mobility in the UK stagnated a while back. You didn't vote for that, likely you didn't cause it. Right now you are a victim of it - but you'll find a way thru it. All the best to you and your family.

Love your content! I think you are stating things as they are 🩵
However, Sasha, what can be done about this?
Why do we in the UK simply accept everything without question?
Why can't people grow a backbone and have the courage to protest? It's astounding what is happening, and while discussing these issues is important, merely sitting and complaining has achieved and will achieve nothing!
Take, for instance, the absurdity with the electricity bills last year or the new 20mph rollout this year, replacing the 30mph limit. What an utterly nonsensical idea! In the past, people would not have tolerated this- nowadays, everyone just seems to 'get on' with it.
The thing is, yes, I could go and protest, or some other individuals could, but it requires masses of united people to truly make a change. How far must things go before people wake up?

Not criticising, but what are you doing about it apart from posting here? And in any case, it’s a bit like Hitler with his Phantom armies in 1945. Just because legislation is put in place doesn’t mean it is policed or enforced. They used to be 20 mile an hour limits near schools in Harringay decades ago and I was the only mug doing 20 miles an hour being overtaken by low-flying aircraft….

    • @freespirit5944
      @freespirit5944 3 месяца назад +3

@@ouethojlkjn As I said, we've passed the time when individual actions or the efforts of small groups can make a significant change. Therefore, in answer to your question, there is nothing I can personally do, which is frustrating. If there were something I could do, I definitely would, but it requires united masses and a stand-off like we had decades ago.
Regarding the enforcement of a 20mph speed limit, I don't think we can compare the situation then to nowadays, where AI and cameras are widespread. I am entirely in support of a 20mph limit in places like near schools, etc. I'm not that foolish. In fact, I wouldn't call anyone a mug for taking extra care when driving around those areas.
However, imposing a blanket 20mph rule instead of 30mph almost everywhere is a bit different. As I mentioned, in 1945 there was no technology to enforce such a thing. These days, you might not even be aware until you receive a fine in the post, along with points on your driving licence.
