Brief synthesis of the evolution of countermeasures against radar homing missiles: offboard, then onboard, then back to offboard.
Onboard CM requires both the range deception and angle deception. Range deception is relatively easy.
Onboard angle deception is much more difficult - it means moving the seeker antenna off the targeted ship. The solution has evaded the electronic warfare technical community for 70+ years, and it is now solvable problem as a result of new insights from an integrated theory of angle deception jamming, validated by results of hardware tests.
