A Formalization of Missile Soft Kill Part I 05
This video presents a formalization of missile soft kill, applicable to drone countermeasures also.
Soft kill refers to the defeat of a guided missile or drone without physically destroying the weapon - so it's more or less synonymous with jamming. Soft kill is the outcome that the jamming is intended to achieve.
In all the decades I have been in the missile and EW/ECM business I have heard endless talk about "soft kill", but never a definition of what it is.
So I created one in 1996: Soft kill means the missile has developed an unrecoverable heading error.
