This song helped me get over my past mistakes. When I looked at those mistakes realistically I noticed I made them seem bigger than they actually are and I linked all my anxiety and depression to them. The truth is, you have to move on at some point or else you'll be nothing. I know it's hard, but successful people don't regret. They learn, grow, accept and forgive themselves for their mistakes because they aknowledge that we're human, we make mistakes, sometimes really big mistakes. I hope the best of luck to anyone reading this struggling with accepting their past.

It will be hard task as even some professional helpers can't understand always everyone, but if you can hang on and don't lose your faith on something better, you can get over even of the most horrible experinces, but nothing about it is easy and all of it won't ever completely just dissapear, but in the darlkest hour you need others and you have both rely and seek them and speak to them. The scars will remain, but it is easier from day to day to cope with them. To some people physical violence is the worst one, but as it was to me in a new school with no friends on a new town, it took a huge toll on me but fortunately I was able to confront these abusers physicaaly as I was a prominet athletic... those who weren't as stone head morons as I was, there was a different story and of them commited a suicide at the age of 14 as she was first betrayed by his boyfriend , but not just that, but exploited to others as 'cheap girl' so she jumped from her familys balcony from the sixth floor, in a statement, wearing a swimsuit and I happened to be one of the prefect students of my school elected by other students... That was horrible. But you have to make the possibility to speak and seek help as easy as it ever can be in all situations and ages and as unnoticeable and ensured in front of others as possible.
This is honestly my favorite Marina song by far. It honestly changed my life and set me into the right direction. I always focused on my failures and considered myself one until I learned to "forget" about it. Thank you so much, Marina!

I am a man but this hit me hard back in the day... as in the lyrics Marina repeats that its time to let it go and forget... That is something all should learn. Not easy at all but very painful. A little story on my connection to this song and its powerful message. I don't think anyone will read it fully but thats okay. So I discovered Marina in the beginning of quarantine last year and been a fan of her since. I love this Froot album, it is so meaningful and relates to a lot of what I have been dealing with my whole life- especially this song. One day when I was at a Target near me- they began playing this song in the store and instantly I was like: "Oh this is Marina!" because her voice is so distinct and beautiful. So as I am a big believer in the universe and its higher power, my intuition was telling me that this song was a message to me from the universe saying "You need to forget about the boy that rejected you over the summer. FORGE-E-E-T" As time went on, I did start to forget about the boy who I had strong feelings for in the past. I also found it surprising that Target played this cause Marina's music (this song in particular) is not played often, if at all, in stores. Fast forward to 2021 and for the first time in a while, I do not feel the need to be in a relationship with anyone 💗
For those of you calling Marina's videos "boring" and wondering why she doesn't do more dramatic videos, keep in mind this girl is someone who made her entire label go bankrupt because she wanted to please us (her fans) by giving us several different lavished videos that she nor her label could afford. The fact that Marina is still giving us a video for EVERY SINGLE SONG she's released of FROOT so far is amazing. It just shows how much she really cares about her music and us. Her label's budget isn't big enough for her to make videos with huge productions. But she's making it up to us by releasing a simple music video for each song so shut the fuck up and get over yourselves.
Of course, there are still people saying this video is "boring", but it actually has meaning behind it. We see Marina draped in black in the beginning. She's singing all alone. Black represents darkness, loneliness, and negativity. Her being there alone has great significance as well. I believe that this shows the cynical side of her. In the beginning of Marina's career she admits to being very independent, overly cynical, and thinking everyone was out to get her. But, the song is about forgetting the past and allowing yourself to become a better person by not acknowledging the past. This is when we see Marina draped in white, on the other side of the screen, surrounded by her band. White represents purity and being cleansed. This can be interpreted by saying Marina finally chose to forget her past and has found salvation in being positive and surrounding herself with supportive people. She no longer tries to avoid people because she no longer believes that the whole world is out to get her. She's found her friends, in this case it's her band, who help her come out of her shell, have a good time, and restore her faith in humanity. However, throughout the video we see shots of Marina back on the other side of the screen, still wearing black. This is a representation of the constant battle she had with forgetting the past and allowing herself to bask "in the light", per se. It's not an easy process, forgiving and forgetting. But in the end of the video, we see the "dark" Marina, the one draped in black, walk away from the microphone. This represents Marina allowing her negative side to walk away from the troubles of her past that made her a cynical person. ALSO: Notice that whenever the shots switch from the positive Marina to the dark Marina, a little ball appears on the screen for like a half second. Maybe this means something too. The video actually makes a lot of sense and enhances the story of the song if you would just open your minds a bit. Not everything needs to be huge and dramatic to have meaning. Marina's said that FROOT is a "happier" album because she wasn't in as bad a place when she wrote the album as she was when she wrote her first two albums. This song and video tells the story of how Marina allowed herself to be freed from the bars of her past and become a happier, more positive person.

When Marina is performing alone in her black outfit, it represents the past, and when she is performing and dancing with a band in her white outfit, it represents the present. At the end, Marina with the black outfit walks off the stage, leaving the stage empty and dark (forgetting the past.) Only Marina in her white outfit remains, which means only the present remains and the past has been forgotten :)

I have many songs that run through my blood, but this one will be with me forever.
I am a man but this hit me hard back in the day... as in the lyrics Marina repeats that its time to let it go and forget... That is something all should learn. Not easy at all but very painful. An end of an one era can be still always a new beginning something even better we tought... I think Marina is singing just about this here. Some things you just have to left behind. I never ever thought that in my deepest darkest moments that a woman singing about herself could have helped me as a man she DID as a human... All of her songs like Teen Idle and Buy The Stars just hit my heart and I was all in. Sometimes even some small things like appreciation or kindness in every day life can make a huge difference to someone who is struggling in her or his life. Every one of us can be 'a million dollars' to some one else.. some as girlfiends and boyfriends and some even more. This particular song though is about Marinas disbelief and her false exceptions about everything, men, God, religion and family. But they do are same to men too and that is the ONLY thing that MADE ME LOVE HER. She is not singing here or ever just about herself. Most of the people are boring just because they are always talking about themselves and not only that, but when ever someone other tries to speak, you are shut up... no matter if this happened to you on your childhood, when you have to escaspe, or in relationship where you are abused, usually mentally, and sometimes also pchycically. Never ever resist either of them from anyone. Lets stop this rolling evil for good.

I want to forgive and forget. For me, this message has gotten me through ups and downs, trials and tribulations, loves and losses. The lyric teaches us to be at peace with the transgressions that have been committed against us but more importantly the ones that we have committed against ourselves, because if we can not have peace within ourselves, we cannot be there for the ones who need us the most.
Can everyone please keep in mind that Marina has a low-budget for ALL of her videos, she has little time to do the videos also. She is one of the only celebrities that does music videos for 99% of her songs.... Just enjoy the music and video.
Well her visuals for Electra Heart were not cheap at all...or she made it look that way. Electra Heart was very visual and lyrical, FROOT is more of a lyrical album...and I'm okay with that.

A little story on my connection to this song and its powerful message. I don't think anyone will read it fully but thats okay.
So I discovered Marina in the beginning of quarantine last year and been a fan of her since. I love this Froot album, it is so meaningful and relates to a lot of what I have been dealing with my whole life- especially this song. One day when I was at a Target near me- they began playing this song in the store and instantly I was like: "Oh this is Marina!" because her voice is so distinct and beautiful. So as I am a big believer in the universe and its higher power, my intuition was telling me that this song was a message to me from the universe saying "You need to forget about the boy that rejected you over the summer. FORGE-E-E-T" As time went on, I did start to forget about the boy who I had strong feelings for in the past. I also found it surprising that Target played this cause Marina's music (this song in particular) is not played often, if at all, in stores. Fast forward to 2021 and for the first time in a while, I do not feel the need to be in a relationship with anyone 💗
Speaking of forget, every few years I rediscover Marina's catalog and am constantly reminding of how amazingly talented she is! What a true gem.

For those of you calling Marina's videos "boring" and wondering why she doesn't do more dramatic videos, keep in mind this girl is someone who made her entire label go bankrupt because she wanted to please us (her fans) by giving us several different lavished videos that she nor her label could afford. The fact that Marina is still giving us a video for EVERY SINGLE SONG she's released of FROOT so far is amazing. It just shows how much she really cares about her music and us. Her label's budget isn't big enough for her to make videos with huge productions. But she's making it up to us by releasing a simple music video for each song so shut the fuck up and get over yourselves.

Of course, there are still people saying this video is "boring", but it actually has meaning behind it. We see Marina draped in black in the beginning. She's singing all alone. Black represents darkness, loneliness, and negativity. Her being there alone has great significance as well. I believe that this shows the cynical side of her. In the beginning of Marina's career she admits to being very independent, overly cynical, and thinking everyone was out to get her. But, the song is about forgetting the past and allowing yourself to become a better person by not acknowledging the past. This is when we see Marina draped in white, on the other side of the screen, surrounded by her band. White represents purity and being cleansed. This can be interpreted by saying Marina finally chose to forget her past and has found salvation in being positive and surrounding herself with supportive people. She no longer tries to avoid people because she no longer believes that the whole world is out to get her. She's found her friends, in this case it's her band, who help her come out of her shell, have a good time, and restore her faith in humanity.
However, throughout the video we see shots of Marina back on the other side of the screen, still wearing black. This is a representation of the constant battle she had with forgetting the past and allowing herself to bask "in the light", per se. It's not an easy process, forgiving and forgetting. But in the end of the video, we see the "dark" Marina, the one draped in black, walk away from the microphone. This represents Marina allowing her negative side to walk away from the troubles of her past that made her a cynical person.
ALSO: Notice that whenever the shots switch from the positive Marina to the dark Marina, a little ball appears on the screen for like a half second. Maybe this means something too.
The video actually makes a lot of sense and enhances the story of the song if you would just open your minds a bit. Not everything needs to be huge and dramatic to have meaning. Marina's said that FROOT is a "happier" album because she wasn't in as bad a place when she wrote the album as she was when she wrote her first two albums. This song and video tells the story of how Marina allowed herself to be freed from the bars of her past and become a happier, more positive person.
Seriously, all you people calling her new music videos boring, you must have low attention spans. I have not been bored once, Jesus Christ.

I think that Marina's outfits in the music video represent the past and present. When Marina is performing alone in her black outfit, it represents the past, and when she is performing and dancing with a band in her white outfit, it represents the present. At the end, Marina with the black outfit walks off the stage, leaving the stage empty and dark (forgetting the past.) Only Marina in her white outfit remains, which means only the present remains and the past has been forgotten :)

this is about to be a very cheesy comment but i cannot explain how much this song has helped me. i made a stupid careless mistake a couple years ago and the shame has been haunting me since, but any time i get suddenly hit by the feeling of guilt i put on this song and it helps remind me that i'm more than my mistakes, that moving on is difficult and it takes time, but that it's worth it. i'm worthy of forgiveness and of letting go of the past. as stupid as it sounds this song has stopped me from having breakdowns in public and i'll forever be grateful that marina made this and shared it with us
