    This is simply the best classical music I have ever heard. I've heard a lot of classic and this strikes it all.
    Think it's because the harmonious and dishamonic sounds play so well together. It is simply genius. A good orchestra that gives everything. Super.

      I suppose you already know him, but I do prefer Shostakovich, especially his series of Quatuors played by Borodin Quartet. It's magnificent, and if, at first, he seems to be "deliberately contemporary", from the fourth to the last (the 8th being the "easiest" to the ear", but 13th and 14th are among my all time favorites. Without Shostakovich, Prokoviev, Bach, maybe I wouldn't be able to listen to Schnittke, and keep seeing classical russian as pretentious and dissonent.
      And if by any chance you hadn't crossed the path of the magnificent series of String Quartets by the master (which I doubt), I'm a little jalous^^ (Discovering the 13th Quartet was one of those times when your soundscape just melts and regrows, changing forever the way your listen to music)
      Sorry for my long message, And you may never read this, but I can't help myself^^!

    Quirky and imaginative. Bit of 'Soldier's Tale' here and there. Great violin writing. Thanks for posting.

    Some themes I admit so beautiful.

    The top notes of the first four chords of the third movement (C, B, D, C#) are a transposition of B-A-C-H! Schnittke continues to voice those chords the same way each time they appear, so the top notes always spell out B-A-C-H. (It becomes a lot more obvious at 14:38 and 17:12)

      Isn't H lower than B ? 🤔 I thought B was for "Si" and H for "Si bémol" Aka B flat 🤔

    • @jacobtapianieto9655
      @jacobtapianieto9655 3 года назад

      @@dress_ane it's indeed the other way around. In the German system "B" is for B flat and "H" means B natural.

      Schnittke uses that kind of chords a lot
      For example, piano concerto with the theme containing c minor B major d minor D flat major (c H d Des = b A c H)

    Sonate tragicomique de Schnittke qui évoque pour moi une atmosphère de cirque où un clown partage ses états d’âme avec le public 12:15 et 12:47 - Belle performance par ce duo talentueux.

    Very interesting work, I've never heard it before. There is already a lot of later Schnittke there, like the bitonal triads, and also interesting on a formal level, with the returning motives for instance. Thank you for uploading.

    Hey does anyone know where I can get the score/ violin part for this piece? I really want to play this for my undergrad senior recital but I’m having an extremely difficult time finding the music for this. Anyone have any suggestions of where I can buy/ get it? (I live in the United States so maybe that has something to do with it)

    I went to a concert last night that included this piece, not my style at all, I'd paid to get a ticket but figure that it would take them to pay me to sit through this again.

    Although I like Schittke, I find his music unrefined. I much prefer the subtlety and grace of Lutoslawski. If you like music for Violin and Piano, I suggest his Subito or Partita
