In a sense the two stories almost mirror each other. Both Beren and Aragorn meet Luthien and Arwen respectively in the exact same way and both call them Tenuviel(I hope that’s spelled right). Elrond and Luthien’s father both give the men near impossible tasks. For Beren he is to cut a Silmaril from Morgoth’s crown and Aragorn must become king of both Gondor and Arnor. Beren is given a dagger in order to cut the gem out of Morgoth and Aragorn is given Anduril, which was forged from Narsil, the very sword that cut the One Ring from Sauron’s finger. Both Luthien and Arwen give up their Elven immortality to live with their beloved
So many people get married with the "happily ever after" mindset, but they forget the other part about the hardships. I've heard lots of people get at speaking about the negatives of life, but what true love is there if it can't handle hardships. It's the hardships that make Beren and Luthien, Strider and Arwen such solid couples.
Calling King Aragorn II son of Arathorn Elessar Elfstone by the name 'Strider' is like calling the Queen of England 'Grandma'. Although true, such nicknames are lowly to say the least :D

Lovely... I have had to say farewell to my beloved man of Gondor.. .which is what I called him when I first met him. You finally answered my years long question. I always wondered if Arwen loved her children because in every telling of her story that I can find, it does not mention it. They all say she loved Aragorn, and when he passed, she fell into bitter despair and went off to the home of her people (which was gone now) and laid down and passed. I could not find anything saying she loved her children, said goodbye to them, or anything. It all made it sound like she only loved Aragorn, bore children for him to make him happy, but only loved him. Now, this brings me to another question brought up from this video. Since I always wondered if she loved her children, and if she loved them, why didn't she stay for them even after the passing of her husband? So, from this video, I am gathering that she was supposed to die. It was part of her trial, and her and Aragorn had completed all of them. With the exception of her still needing to pass from the world, which she finally did. Am I right?
A reoccurring thing I found in all of the human-elf romances is it's always human man and elf woman also both are of the rich upper class or at least descended from nobility and the elf always gives up her immortality (which may explain a lot about how Tolkien saw his marriage story)
This was the greatest evil of Melkor. He poisoned the Gift and put fear of the "Darkness" into Men. Said "Darkness" being the Gift to leave the world and be with Eru. The Edain at first turned away from the Darkness and went to Eru willingly, though not without grief from loved ones. But they who lived after knew that they would join their loved ones. So it was until the Shadow grew again in the Second Age. Melkor put forth his influence and the Fear came upon Men again. The one thing that they could not break free from. For even the best of Men had this Fear and clung to life, forgetting that death was truly a Gift. And so it is to this day. "Tried myself, in the school of affliction, by the loss of every form of connection which can rive the human heart, I know well, and feel what you have lost, what you have suffered, are suffering, and have yet to endure. the same trials have taught me that, for ills so immeasurable, time and silence are the only medecines. I will not therefore, by useless condolances, open afresh the sluices of your grief nor, altho’ mingling sincerely my tears with yours, will I say a word more, where words are vain, but that it is of some comfort to us both that the term is not very distant at which we are to deposit, in the same cerement, our sorrows and suffering bodies, and to ascend in essence to an ecstatic meeting with the friends we have loved & lost and whom we shall still love and never lose again." --Thomas Jefferson to John Adams, November 13, 1818 upon hearing of the death of Abigail Adams.
Ummm... so what great Kingdoms did you have to reunite to get permission to date his daughter? Geezus the guy went 30 years into the wild and then had to ascend the throne of two kingdoms and you think you have it hard.

Men, i love this too much, i always cry😭
Thank you for a video worthy of this moving story!
Beautiful 🌹
Aragorn had it easy. Elrond was way nicer than most of the dads I had to deal with when I came to date their daughter.
Ummm... so what great Kingdoms did you have to reunite to get permission to date his daughter? Geezus the guy went 30 years into the wild and then had to ascend the throne of two kingdoms and you think you have it hard.
Almost as great a love as my love for Scandinavian blondes
Amen.
They are nice but Celtic Gingers win my vote.💚
Feminine dignity surpasses hair color. Physical virtue is but one of many other good virtues. I pray that you recognize this some day. It will bring unexpected blessings.
Fuck yeh women loves us
One does not simply love Scandinavian blondes
Damn what a sombering story, I loved this love story, might have to get into the LOTR a lot more now
