The Indians commenting in this section about how Vetter isn't consistent enough and how they prefer Neeraj over him because of his consistency is primarily the reason why there are very few Neeraj Chopras in our country. Don't brag, be humble like Neeraj cheering in the background. Vetter is, and will be a legend. Anyone remotely interested in Javelin throwing comps, knows how consistent he has been. A lack of Olympic medal doesn't make him any less of a great. It's ridiculous that we just think that as we watched 2 videos on youtube after the Olympics, we have become expert in that sport. Neeraj went to Germany to train, because the world's best train there. Don't assume that Neeraj just picked up a stick in his backyard, threw it around, came to the Olympics and won. Try to follow other competitions too, to know that there's a much greater space for sportspersons beyond Olympics. We may not appreciate that, but people around the world do. That's why countries with way less people and resources win more medals than we do.
That's what sportsmanship is all about. Besides competing one should learn to cheer for their competitor as well. That's how you carry the meaning of actual sportsman spirit. 🙌❤️

i find it mind-boggling how indians blame it on vetter's consistency. it was reported everywhere that they used a new kind of softer underground in tokyo that made runners faster but led to vetter being unable to support his technique with his other foot, he was always sliding. chopra is using another technique and therefore didnt have the same kind of problems. is there no independent quality news in india? this is the main reason vetter failed. this behaviour by some indians is ultra cringe.

Neeraj is a consistent 86+ thrower and that is his greatest strength... 90+ throws look terrific but if you are not consistent enough and blow hot and cold then that might cost you big come the biggest events with the most pressure. Neeraj himself pointed out that though his target is to cross 90 but he would rather consistently throw 86 above than throw close to 90 and then throw a series of lower distance throws. Consistency is key. Vetter has come to know this fact the hard way.
Doesn’t work like that. I get it you are talking about the value of consistency here, but Javelin throw is decided with one really good throw. That’s how Germans won, that’s how Finnish won, and that’s how the Kenyan won. What’s the use of Neeraj’s consistency if he can’t break the 90 mark.

I'm not in to javelin throw. But Vetter won every competition he has been participating in since 2019 till the olympics. So that's consistency. Such a big contradiction in his throws. Best throw of 97+ but couldn’t throw even 85 at the Olympics. 12+ metre difference is quite big. What made Neeraj different from others that he is always so consistent. Never throwed 90 metre but always throw around his best which made it look so easy for him to grab the gold at the Olympics.
Vetter had really big Problems with the tartan track in Tokio. The floor was too soft for Vetter's throwing technique. That's why he only threw about 82 metres

Had a bad day at the finals, could’ve been due to track surface, had an off day, folded under pressure, but he still made the olympic finals, he still threw 90m that season, he has thrown many great days, but that one wasn’t his great day
Did Vetter peak too early in relation to Olympics? Because he was at his own level in the beginning of the summer but lost his form sometime before Tokyo.
Just had an off day at the olympics, everyone has their set backs, psychologically challenging too in those kinds of conditions, I personally believe vetter could’ve beat Chopra but vetter folded under the pressure/had an off day, and Chopra stood tall against the pressure/had a peak performance day, I believe it came down to who had the good day and could perform under pressure
