    NOTE: If you have a hard time hearing over the music, try unplugging your headphones and watch without them. I am aware the music is too loud, and I have 100% fixed this in my newer videos, but this was an early video and I was still learning to edit. I apologize for the problem though, and you can be sure this won't happen in any of my newer videos! Thanks for watching!

    Great video man. Refreshing to watch a video that’s packed with information without perseveration on a specific topic.

    Nice video, one remark though: it's NOT a cactus. They're not related at all, the flowers are much different and the spines are different as well. It's not in the family cactaceae but in the euphorbiaceae. It just evolved similarly to cacti

    Thanks for the info! I just picked one of these up last weekend thinking it would look great in my cactus patch, but didn't realize how big it could grow! Debating between keeping it in a large clay pot, or planting it in my front yard.

    How far into the soil should the fleshy part of the cactus be potted? I bought one from home depot and only half of the actual cactus was out of the soil. I raised it up to where about 3 inches of the fleshy part is under, because when it gets watered I don't want it to rot. Any tips?

    Great video! Definitely #onmywishlist!!Oh yes, all euphoria's sap is highly toxic! I was handling a euphoria, roots only. I did wash my hands afterwards. Apparently not good enough because after I washed, made the mistake of touching my eye 👀... Oh boy, huge mistake!! Worse pain and ahhh lotta drainage, lol!! I'd actually suggest wearing gloves!!

    I live in Oregon and I didn’t bring my Candelabra cactus in soon enough this past fall . It ended up freezing on the top and started to rot. I cut off the rotted section , but I’m concerned that it is now ruined . I’m hoping it will get new growth on the top. Any advice is helpful, thank you kindly.

    Watch out for outlets selling lookalikes of this plant I've seen alot of places selling euphorbia acurensis and try to pass it off as ingens.
    Acurensis is alot cheaper than ingens and looks similar except the acurensis has thinner trunks/arms and has a leafy spiney look to it if you did not know what to look for you would buy it not knowing and paying double for a plant much cheaper if it was labelled correctly

    Hi great video. I just got this beauty! What type of sand do you recommend using?

    • @TheGreenAlchemist
      @TheGreenAlchemist  5 лет назад +1

      Hey I'm glad you enjoyed the video. So when you amend your soil typically the general consensus is to add sand. It's not always the best idea though because it's not very high nutrient wise and when it fuses with the clay particles it can create a concrete like consistency and this can be counter intuitive when it comes to watering your plants. Instead there are other addetitives that you can add to your clay soil. Organic matter like a good compost can really help with drainage. Manure can be just as good. Perlite is also a good reccomendation and so is gypsum. But if you are just wanting to use sand, builders sand is always a good option because it is typically washed a little better to help reduce the finer particulate matter that can sometimes accompany sand.

      I’ve been using a mixture of soil,Pumice & Chicken grit. Do you think that’s beneficial to the Cacti?

    Don't water it at all? When I google how much water they say every 2 -3 weeks? I'm confused what to do. I don't want to kill it with over or under-watering. It's currently in the cactus miracle grow, right by my window so how often should I water?

      I have one 1.4 metres tall & it's fine with any amount of rain in summer, but I bring it indoors in winter & keep it mostly dry & frost free because they will not tolerate any amount of frost.

    Does the plant contain mescaline?

    • @TheGreenAlchemist
      @TheGreenAlchemist  5 лет назад

      No it does not. Although there are several cacti out there that do contain it, euphorbia ingens does not.

    I'd be careful with how you mispronunciate that ingens if you don't want to get kicked off youtube because it's in-guns not the more pesky way of pronouncing it.
