I remember when Arden was placed in S tier when came out since follow up ring came before fighter skills making him the most potent combat unit as he always doubled to have as his HP would let him tank 1 hit from mages outside of blue blade tomes and he easily would tank physical hits. Arden is also still is the king of HP to this day.
I feel like Pulse Smoke is something that’s always helpful but no one mentions it. Like it shuts down a lot of the precharge stuff and very few units can actually recover from being hit by the effect Like most Hardy Fighter units typically have slaying weapons and special charges but the second the smoke hits they’ve got nothing to defend them really I think the only thing that’s been able to withstand Pulse Smoke is units with slaying effect, Ruptured Sky (or any 2 turn cooldown) with Time Pulse 4
Haven't seen a reason to swap it off of my Kana yet. Between it, his refine, neutralizing bonuses with Close Def, and nuking things with Dragon's Wrath he's pretty damn good at not dying in Aether Raids
Since you mentioned R!Ingrid and I just happened to pull one, it's really awkward to use her fodder because if you fodder her weapon, you have to give it to another flier to make use of the other inheritance slots and at this point you probably just made a weaker ingrid anyway because they'll lack her A skill. Similar problem happened R!Tana where she had flier exclusive skills. If only I could take her weapon and put it on 1 unit and then the other 3 skills and put it on another..
Wrath 3 maybe? Its power level was always good until everyone suddently needed NFU in the B slot. But being one of the most powerful B skills for Infantry units for years, including after the introduction of Lull skills, surely makes it a skill way ahead of its time. Not before Windsweep though.
I personally think Spd Preempt is a skill that is rising in viability thanks to new effects that can make more units justify trying a vantage sweep build, namely Rally Spectrum existing. Before, unless you were literally a unit that was designed to have it, it was just weak, because most ranged units and ranged skills at the time were focused entirely on player phase, and generally lacked any effects that can blow things up before you got hit. Rally Spectrum changes that because now any ranged unit can suddenly precharge any 3 Charge special and preempt the enemy. Legendary Chrom with TP4 and Rally Spectrum active can stack an insane amount of stats and Preempt sweep with Deadeye procs. I've also been doing it with my Teatime Tailtiu, using TP4, Arc Caliburnus, and Rally Spectrum to make a fast, potent Flare sweeper who gets to use both forms of Flare in one combat. Only problem there is that she can't negate DR.
I'll die on this hill. Null Follow-Up was ahead of its time. Everyone slept on it when Adrift Male Corrin released. I made a point to pull for him to give to Lon'qu to deal with fighter skills, and hey, what do you know? Now this effect is on nearly every speedy unit's ideal kit. Edit: Oh hey. This was the first thing discussed in the video.
@@hihigocat I'll die on an anthill if it means speaking up about something I don't see many people talk about. I also commented before getting too far into the video, so y'know... we take Ls sometimes. No shame in it.
Any thoughts on the pulse tie skills specifically even pulse tie? I’ve found that with all the pre charged specials running around that they can be quite helpful especially in Aether raids but at the time they didn’t really do well cause there was to many good skills for the b slot not to mention no one expect some dancers had the HP to use them hopefully the tier 4 version will be better. Also what is that Altina at 5:45 😂😅
Bride Catria is the biggest one for this. On her release banner everyone was still trying to find ways to deal with fallen edelgard reliably and saves were the other new thing we had gotten as well (valentines gustav and henriette). We also had legendary sigurd just after catria who stole the show for a while too. It wasn't until around the time that Catria finally got a re-run that everyone finally realised just how good she was (especially for ARO, which people slept on for almost a year, even with her re-run). Catria has dominated the meta since then and only now we are getting a hard counter to her (Elimine was a soft counter, it was possible for catria with enough investment to out-res majority of Elimine).
@@cattix8796 Mythic Freyr. His C skill neutralises all penalties at the start of every phase. This includes stat penalties as well as negative status effects like guard or movement restriction. This means it also negates the false-start status elimine inflicts.
@@cattix8796 Any ruse 4 skill since it has schism a direct triangle attack nullifier, but if it is units we talking about, then Heather, since she introduce said skill and has the ability to act again after using it
I still can't believe I somehow got a free Legendary Robin. People slept on him hard when it came out, so I just considered myself lucky when it happened. And then he started showing up on arena and showed just how obnoxious him and his support shenanigans are.
Remember when a certain blue unit tried to kill all of the triangle, including hectors? also being a 3 movement unit? yes, i'm talking about Reinhard, also puting him with brash assault and the other skill that negate counter until you finished your attacks, was a secure quadra vs 2 ranged... the conditions are awlful specific (hp swap, fury effect)
As far as units, similar to L Robin, do things like Summer Thorr or Bridal Catria count? Or were they just insanely good from their debut and just continue to be that way?
If you really want walhart to be really silly, if you really res stack and with a poly skill with both still water 4/3. he get like up to 40 res if max merge and DFs +res so not only he puts flash he also gives the all poly 4 effects on everything and most Godswords won't have the res to beat walhart's res. I do run this and it's very silly.
Pretty obvious one, but yeah I do think DR skills were ahead of their time. I remember way back in the early days of FEH when DR started existing it wasn't as necessary as it is now because it wasn't too impactful (with the exception of a few units, notably vanilla Sigurd) because it often was more conditional than it is now and was more of a premium gimmick that was often not hard to counter, which made it so running other builds was simply more worthwhile. Now, the DR shenanigans don't stop on ANYONE clearly due to its stackability these days compared to before.
I'd argue that Caeda's Vantage has only gotten better thanks to all the new toys we can play with. Brave Robin's Rally Spectrum is a nice +5 to all stats ontop of the -2 to her special cooldown count. Then when paired with Legendary Alear, her special can pierce DR. It's quite fun to see her absolutely destroy units like Ninja Sanaki thanks to her vantage. Also my god what the heck are those builds the opponents are using in the background footage? So much trash.
Arden was a baffling unit when he first came out. The builds I came across for him scared me whenever I saw them.
He's still my premiere sword armor. ^_^
Unlimited HP Arden was one of my first and favorite Unit Showcase videos I’ve ever watched.
Sometimes I think about Jeorge getting conditional damage reduction waaaay before we had the damage reduction
Same. Does a surprisingly good job of letting him tank something that should have killed him before letting loose a devastating counterattack.
@@shinigamimiroku3723 Been using him since launch, just like any early gen unit, they still work if you throw everything and the sink at them
And then there's Henry. Just Henry. Haven't changed his build in about 2 years and he's still basically indestructible.
