Thank you Connor that was VERY helpful. Believe it or not I have 2 degrees in my subject matter and some teaching experience and would really like to offer online tutoring but I'm not sure where to start and if I am really honest I am a bit nervous about it having never done it. Which is weird as I have stood in-front of students from Yr7 to Yr13.
I think if you understand the content, you understand the level at which you need to teach it, and you are able to find students willing to pay then you can definitely teach it!
Hi Connor, I would be interested to know how do you conduct your online lessons? Like what apps you use to show your screen or how you plan your lessons beforehand. If you could do a video on that, it would be really helpful. Thank you in advance
What a complete start to finish as a mechanical engineer to a certain standard, say as rail mechanical engineer ,which I am this covers a wide range of subjects
I would agree that choosing a subject is difficult. I have a degree in the arts. Locally, there are too many people tutoring. I would like to tutor in the academic area. I have seen sites with English grammar, writing, and literature, etc. , Math sites with Basic math, Algebra I & II, Calculus, Trig, and up and up. Personally, I feel that the Primary level is best for starting while I review the middle and upper level, I hesitate signing on to sites for fear of failing any tests they may give, What I am now finding in the grammar area is that I know how a certain verb should be used but, I do not know the name of that type of verb. For that reason I would like to know exactly what a student needs assistance with if I tutor on my own to make sure I use the proper name. Would this be a common problem? I am an older person who has already retired. When I taught in the classroom I had success with my students and they did well. Even the shyest person was comfortable with me. I was shy in school and approaching a shy student is all about the way a teacher approaches a student.
I think the great thing about starting off small and cheap is that you build the confidence and client base fast. The most powerful thing for tutors is word-of-mouth recommendations to other students/parents, and that only comes from getting those first few clients
Hi Conner I am desperate to work from home and since I speak German I was hoping to become a tutor and don't know where to begin because I have very little computer skills. Any advice would be hugely appreciated 👍😁
Thanks for the tips, they're are really helpful. I want to start my face-to-face tutoring services and don't know if students prefer paying per month or per session, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Hi Dr Dibblin Your video is so informative and thank you sooo much. I just feel like all is well now. You are blessed to bless others. All the stuff that seemed impossible now look possible. I couldn't start tutoring because I was stuck. I am in Zimbabwe how can I get those sites like Superprof. May I just apply? Is there a link? I am 69 and just sitting at home. I love maths and I love to teach. Also connectivity is a setback since I use purchased data. What are the other easy tutoring apps. I don't just teach Maths.. I teach concepts. It would be good if I can start with year one of High school then keep building up if we can. Thank you again.
Hello, thank you for the video. I would like to know please what applications do you use to prepare your own resources? Also are private tutors allowed to use textbooks and past exam papers during their lessons (including online lessons)? And if giving online lessons, are tutors allowed to record those lessons? Thank you so much.
Great questions! So I like to use PowerPoint if I’m going to really teach a subject but the main thing I use is the “whiteboard” function on Zoom, I find this so useful when teaching. You are of course allowed to use any resources as long as you have a right to use them! So textbooks you own, free resources online, past papers etc
@@ConnorDibblin Great! :) Thank you for your answers. As I want to be on the safe side, did you mean by "textbooks you own" textbooks I've bought or textbooks I've written? What is confusing me is the copyrights and requests that textbooks are not to be photocopied (unless it is a school as they have CLA licences and they can copy up to 5%). So, if as a private tutor, I get an example from a textbook to work on with students or few problems to solve for practice/homework, would this be considered like photocopying portion of it? And one more question on resources. There are companies and individuals that prepare school materials and sell them (teachers for teachers works). Are private tutors allowed to use such in their practices? Thank you.
I would generally use resources that are under a license that allows for distribution with credit to the owner like many websites. Every syllabus (in the UK) has freely available resources too. It really depends on who/ what you are teaching, and I think it’s a different situation if you are working with someone one-to-one and looking at a textbook or if you are trying to create a resource for thousands. I’m no lawyer though 🤷♂️ none off this is intended as advice on the legality, best to ask a solicitor for that information
Hello am Aminos and a grade teacher as well, I would love to start an online academy and I really need you to help me step by step on doing a great job tnx
Thank you for thsi video! Im a recent stay at home mum and think tutoring would be a goos job for me to do in the evenings around child care. However I graduated in 2014 so have been out of education for a long time and I have no experience tutoring. I've been working in office roles since graduating However this is something that I think I can do (at one point i was thinking of training as a teacher). My degree is in Psychology and I have A grades at A levels Psychology and Sociology. I also have good grades in English, English lit, History and child development at GCSE. Unfortunately I dont have any friends or family at school age to practice on. I'm a little bit nervous! Are all the resources online free? How long does it take to learn a topic for a client? Any advice for me?
Thank you for sharing your experience. You seem like an amazing tutor. Just a question: with face to face students we give them worksheets, books etc with relevant materials to work on and also hard copies of notes etc. How can one do that online?
Hello Sir...great video..sir I am pooja from India and coming Worcester city in September next month.I want to start my career in tutoring specially in maths as I was teaching in india..sir could you please explain me how can I start..what is required.I don't know any procedure to start teaching in uk
The best thing to do would be to get started on a site like superprof and see who messages you for sessions! Starting with a lower charge often means more interest at the beginning and then you can increase as you fill up.
Hi great video! really informative. Im interested in becoming a tutor but my qualifications will only go as far as A levels as I have no plans on studying for a degree. Do you think its likley that I will be able to advertise myself sucessfully or is it necessary to have a degree/working on one in order to get clients/charge a decent rate?
That’s a really common question I think! I believe that if you have done well in an exam or course, then you are well placed to tutor on that subject regardless of your qualifications. Remember tutoring is different to teaching, which in most instances does require a qualification to do. I would recommend you checkout this video: ruclips.net/video/-tuN7PqdVLA/видео.html to see how you can manage clients once you start getting students!
I am a blind person just completed my batchaler degree in english literature i am also interested in history geography and travel and tourism as did good in my Olevel And alevel how can i become a tuter
What tips would you have for someone who is waiting on their first client from an online website. No problem with the skill of the service or the price - just simply haven't got a client yet.
I would think about using multiple different online sites/marketplaces and working out which works for you. Where do you get the most interest and which do you like using the most
Being a tutor brings me in FAR more income at the moment than youtube does. That being said, people with millions of followers on youtube make more money than most people who are tutoring

You are able to tutor on superprof without a degree, you only need to upload a degree to get to the next 'level' of tutor. So you should still be able to tutor without one!
Hey Connor, I'm currently a resident in Germany pursuing my master's degree in physics at TUM, however, I'm not currently fluently speaking German. Do you recommend online platforms on which I can perform online teaching in math/physics that can accept a german resident who is not speaking german?
On Superprof you can set your language, so if you were to set your language to English only then you would only be contacted by students wanting to learn in English. Alternatively you could set up your account in your home country and set your lessons to online only?
Hi, man, Iam a physics youtuber and I make videos ti help students, but Iam not sure if its right to ask my subscribers if they can join me if I create a tutoring payment, what do you think, is it a good option and what do you think is the right pricing without making it seem a bit much for my subscribers

Hi, as a 14 year old, I've always wanted to start online tutoring thus watching RUclips vids and scowering the internet for a perfect website for me but all my efforts sad to say were useless, considering that every tutoring platform needed to be 18 or above. That being said, what are the best websites where a 14 year old can apply?
What are you teaching? Depending on what subject or skill you're teaching, Superprof might be a good fit. I might be wrong, but I think they don't require tutors to be 18+ By the way, be careful. You probably will be dealing with adults, so if I were you, I'd record every single class for safety (just don't forget to ask for the student's consent). Good luck 😄
Hi Connor, do you think if I want to be a mandarin tutor? I should choose those tutor platfomrs or I should build my own webiste and nurture my clients from the beginning? Thank you!
