Congrats for putting in the Eflat on the way back down in the left hand (once the melody starts). Many players leave that out because it's subtle in the original.

Expect to be there awhile, then, lol. I've got 19 hours on Playground Sessions that I know of, plus numerous hours before that (got out of practice) and I can't do it, lol.
Can't help saying over and over again how much I love this tune. It's like hearing it for the first time, over and over again. The only thing that would transcend listening to this song is playing it perfectly, like this
Thank you, my co-worker and I (around 1992) were leaving the Marriot Long Wharf hotel around Chistmas Eve. We went out for a lot of drinks in Fanuel Hall/Boston,MA. All the bars were closed up around Fanuel Hall. Just outside one of the bars was a covered piano. My friend Mike Satkevich (Boston University) pulled the cover off the piano and began playing this…people stopped in there tracks and watched him play the whole song! It was one of my favorite Christmas moments! I miss Mike, he was good people.
For those who don't know, this song is only played on Charlie Brown episodes when only Linus and Lucy are seen. And no other character is seen with them
You are absolutely incredible! I bought the music for this because my aunt has wanted me to learn the song for a really long time but I am NOT a jazz pianist. You're an inspiration and I'm definitely going to listen to this video at least 1000 times so I can try and figure it out :)

Playing by memory is actually the easiest part. There's a huge satisfaction in actually playing the notes that you expect to hear that makes it hard to forget what comes next in most songs.
Because the Holiday season is almost upon us, I went looking for uploads of this particular song, a song I associate greatly with Christmas because it was featured in the Charlie Brown Christmas Special way back when. You are an AMAZING player! It's like it was really the Vince Guaraldi Trio playing this! :D
+blkbrdsr71 Mr. Schulz himself, apparently, wasn't a huge fan of Jazz. Thankfully, he was allowed his opinion and they went ahead with this anyhow. Basically, this piece screams "Charlie Brown" into your brains and guts and communicates it in a way I don't think any other piece of music has ever managed to duplicate.
This is one of my favorite pieces of music. It moves along so well, then startles and confuses you with that middle passage...and then brings you back. I've never quite understood why Guaraldi did that. In my opinion it badly disrupts the flow of the music, but if I think about it for a few minutes, I guess that pretty well reflects Charlie Brown's life, so maybe it isn't wrong.
Harrison Myers...and that's the main reason I generally dislike jazz. This is a good composition and I enjoy it, but that middle bit always throws me. I won't fault jazz for the same reason I don't fault people liking zucchini. If it works for you, great. Like zucchini, I generally don't go for jazz.
It's called a bridge; and THAT is the whole purpose, to bring you to a little distant spot so you can come back to where you were and feel home again...This is one of the three or four most beautiful piano pieces ever written...Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells opening; Lizst's Hungarian Rhapsody #2; and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata are the others, IMHO...
I want to learn this so bad, but man is it difficult. I've been playing for one year. My teacher said you have to have very good technique and remain relaxed. Nicely done.
This guy is incredible. I've been playing for 4-5 years, and I just started. I could've probably done this last year, had I thought of it. So make sure you're ready before playing a certain song. This piece is definitely different than what I normally do, which is classical.
Brilliant piece and very well played. And no matter what I'm doing, this song always makes me laugh. The thought of the wry humor and sarcasm...the genius that is Peanuts never fails.
The soundtrack from A Charlie Brown Christmas is my go-to therapy for when shit gets me down. I have the movie on DVD and I watch it frequently, too. I am an atheist, yet somehow this Christmas classic is just what I need when I really need it.
Nicely played! I can play the main theme, just can't get a fix on the bass lines in the bridges. This is one of the best visuals Ive seen and may help me get there. Your playing is top notch. Anybody knows where can I find the *real* sheet music for the song? I can only find sheets where the swing part is simplified... It looks to me like the holy grail of pentagrams...
The real sheet music is everywhere, but if you want your playing to sound exactly the way Guaraldi played it on the track, you'd have to find a way ask him personally - he probably improvised every time he played the song....just improv yourself and come up with an arrangement you like. That's what Guaraldi did.

You should hear David Benoit's version of Guaraldi's Red Barron.
Did he? Or did the Peanuts capture the mood and personality of Vince Guaraldi? It's really hard to tell, they are so intertwined at this point.

1. I hear this song on the radio.

3. Old man Parker puts leg lamp in window...
