- Another interesting question from the Comic Con Copenhagen last week in the first panel with Alycia.
Sometimes is cool to listeng how is all the process behind such a role as Lexa The Commander and the Grounders. How much actors/actresses need to learn in different aspects of their characters.
HUGE Kudos to Alycia in how great she sounded so natural, when she was talking Grounder's language in the show!

Ok, not the new earth, but in the prequel series as like a doppelganger that eventually led to her being the commander.
Almost like she plays Becca's daughter or something. Obviously she'd have to be like a descendant of someone who originally survived the first "Praimfaya".

it's very rare that we actually get to like an actor/actress too rather than the character. I'm glad that I'm becoming a fan of Alycia more than just of Lexa.

The language is very similar to Nigerian Pigeon or Jamaican patois. I actually almost fully understand it. They took English words and broke them up

It is called trigedasleng(tree-nation-language)

Im dissapointed that she said that she didnt remember anything of the grounder language I mean just drein just draun (or how its is writen up) is a sentence that she used often and it is really easy to remember... maybe she just doesnt wanna say it but why...? :(

Exactly! in fact she insisted that was "HARD" so i guess in someway wasnt the best memory she have of playing Lexa... lol :D but she did it SO awesome... she looked and sounded so natural speaking that language....

Does someone knows if the "grounders" language it's really a language from some country or tribe or was just invented for the show?
Tiago Silva it was made for the show by linguist David j peterson who also invented the languages on other shows like game of thrones. Although it's made up, it is based on English and any English speaker will pick it up fairly fast. I've been learning it since June and was fluent in a matter of weeks. I belong to a group who speak in trigedasleng daily. It's a lot if fun. David j peterson is in the group too and even joins us to brainstorm new words for the upcoming season of the 100. Look our group up, Slakgedakru. They're on RUclips, Slack, tumbler, twitter.

Nice video !!! My son and I was going to go to the ComiCon in Copenhagen but then the organizers posted that they would only allow the first 50 people for photo session with Alycia Debnam-Carey and we decided to not bother. We could have ended up going all the way there, mostly for Alycia Debnam-Carey and not even get to take any photos together with her. Such a shame as my son likes her for her role in Fear The Walking Dead and I like her for both that and The 100. I was even going to bring my The 100 Season 2 Disc and pay to get it autographed but didn't want to go there for just that if we couldn't be sure for photo ops as well. Don't get me wrong. I'm not blaming Alycia or anything, as she seems so adorable as a person. We usually go to The Scandinavian Sci-Fi Conventions in Malmö, sometimes Gothenburg. They never set such limits and the actors are there the whole days. The Photo sessions starts at certain times and runs until the line/que is empty and everyone who wants to gets a chance for a photo. Even seen the actors pop back into photo sessions and take a break from signing autographs if there are some far travelling visitors arriving late who missed the advertised photo session time. They even let You take selfies with most actors. In fact I started doing that even before it became an official feature and no actor nor the organizer ever declined it and I did get some cool selfies, not just the paid for arranged photos. Nowdays the selfies have become a feature and You pay some extra but still nice You can get that too.

Gibberish is meaningless nonsense. Trigedasleng is a real language. She's pretty good at faking it though, for someone who never bothered to learn the language.
Ken MacMillan not necessarily gibberish can be something that you don't understand it doesn't mean it's made up nonsense I don't understand Spanish it's gibberish to me that doesn't mean its not a real language plus tridageslang is a constructed language not something you can speak on a day to day basis that explains why she forgot it plus like she said the language wasn't fully formed when they started using it which must've made it harder for her to learn it.
It's as real as French or Spanish and created for the show by linguist David J. Peterson. Don't believe me? Look him up and ask him. He's on RUclips, Twitter, and Tumblr. If you would like to speak it there are some great resources online for you to learn it.
In addition to that, it's far from 'as real as French or Spanish' considering the fact that it was made for the purpose of the series and not for the purpose of detailed all encompassing communication i.e. it's incomplete to say the least.
