Replace the rag joint with a solid steering shaft and you'll eliminate a ton of play in the steering wheel
If the idle air control is removable, remove it ,clean it with WD40. Some carb cleaners are hard on the plastic and wiring coating. Clean the passages with throttle body cleaner. Idle air controls get sticky after they get oil and dirt on them.
very surprised the rack got ripped out those things are almost invincible
"Why could you just get a normal car Craig?" Becuz normal is for normal people. Car people aren't normal, we're badasses!
I've been dealing with the beam issue my 1980 bullnose. Probably going to convert everything over to a 1995 so I can get away from the kingpin and put DJM dream beams on it
Just purchased my hat so I can represent all the way from Texas!
I appreciate it!
Also cold idle issues can also be a bad coolant temp sensor makes the ecu think its warm already and not enrich for cold start
The frames on brick nose fords and obs fords are the same. You can interchange parts, I’ve put 4x4 drop brackets into a 2wd truck and it works fine
1980-96 is the same
Autofab and desolate motorsports both make drop brackets that’ll work on that truck but bending the beams is the way to go anyways
It started in limp mode bud. The wonders of ford EFI mass air. If it was speed density you'd have no issues
old foxbodys dont have limp mode silly!!!!!
@@mysticker11 unplug your MAF sensor and remove your O2 sensors... The compute resets to a baseline also known as "limp mode" in order to keep the car running... That is what limp mode is SILLY
this makes me miss my foxbody so much!
Love watching you work on your projects and make progress and fix some stuff. Makes me super pumped and motivated to wanna work on my cars. I got a 96 chevy caprice 9c1 and seeing you pound out some work makes me wanna work on mine.
Need some husky sizes like 4XL-5XL! 😊
I'm glad you have hats (just ordered) this time since I love your Logo.
What exhaust system does your mustang have Craig 909 as in headers, brand, glass pack mufflers or flowmaster mufflers, or like exhaust tailpipes like gt tails or stock tailpipes or ??!
first thing i did with mine was jack it up and check the inners.they bad..rack wasnt leaking so i replaced em..been driveing it for like 5 years now no problem...hint from me..a 30 year automotive and 20 years i was a undercar specialist (front end alignment man) ..always put locktite on the screw in inner tie rod ends and always put extra grease around the inner joint ( the part supplyer skimps on that part) good luck!!!!!
Just for future reference, two songs at the same time hurts my head. Not a fan...i work with tunes on so I get it, and I get the copywrite crap. But a voiceover, or time lapse wouldn't be out of line. #imhereforthetruck........jk jk
Your supposed to use ATF as power steering fluid not regular power steering fluid it’s supposed to be red I burnt my pump out using regular power steering fluid, my pump got louder and would make noise at full lock
Craig you might wanna try doing a valve adjustment on the mustang to help how it runs. Ive got a 98 silverado and Its been sounding cammed as hell on idle and i did a compression test and valve adjustment. She had 0 ZERO compression on cyl5 and 8 cause the valves were too tight. Quick adjustment and she makes more noise cranking it for a split second than idling
For your truck, don’t know if you’ve already done it or thought about it, but I’d drain the oil and check for metal flakes or shavings. Maybe cut the filter open too
Avoid the temptation to go too low. The Fox geometry will wear the hell out of the tires when lowered too much
Awesome video man! I love to see you turning wrenches in the videos and watching parts come off and go on the rigs. Keep up the good work!👍
P.S. would be awesome if you could film the surge issue being fixed
Where’s your dash lights bro???!
That's probably a bad inner tie rod end, no need to remove the rack.
I’m commenting to support the channel.
Just put a order in, hyped about the new products
Don't know how to tell ya this...but it is looking for a new owner!
What is the green truck in Shawn's garage?
That’s dedication! I feel like your life is always go! go! go!
What size of tires are you running in the rear?
16:06 what the song that’s playing
Inner tie rod end do wear out and it can be replaced.
Good you got it sorted!
Hell yeah
The coil overs came out of another fox body we didn’t mess with the adjustment at all when when removing or storing 😂
They ride mint! So thank you for not changing anything haha
That's cool that worked out good for you
First
Craig my Foxbody has been sitting for a month and the starter still hasn’t fixed itself what did you do to make yours fix itself?
Put a G.M. starter in.
@@hoppes9658 haaa, very funny. almost died.
@@williamsanders468 Couldn’t resist.
@@hoppes9658 If the roles were reversed I’d have said the same thing
Reminds me of when I first bought my 76 F100 4x4 and the rag joint in the steering shaft was falling apart.. You weren't so much steering it as guiding it down the road, you'd have to turn it to about 9-9:30 and 2 before it'd start doing anything and then you'd immediately have to go back to the other direction.. on top of that the speedo was massively off so I was driving across base well in excess of the speed limit.. damn glad no SP saw me... *sigh I miss that truck.
It's what we talked about at Fabulous Ford, it's hard to make helpful comments when you've made the repair and posted .
I did the rack in my 89 gt black on black car and before I did it when you would take off from a red light the tire would kick back and pop loud enough you could hear it over the radio
The weight of the car is definitely different than the compressed spring on a jack. It does get you close but your friend was right
I'm late but how was your day Craig
Bro with the hair and stache you remind me of that episode of saved by the bell when slater dreams he comes back to the reunion as a pro wrestler
I'm worried about the engine in your truck those burnouts just punished it I don't know I would have never done that too much time too much money good luck buddy
Getting close to bolting on some HP to go with the suspension fixes and upgrades?
You should do a live show on RUclips
How do you find classic car meets? i have a 66 f-100 in the bay area and i cant find any classic car shows.
Just ordered a hoodie so I can rep your channel
You didn't Measure your Is itierod ends
And yes I will pay for that
I need a 4X sweatshirt
sly as a fox wanted a new owner.
Chester Chester.
Love your show. Why do you call 90s truck OBS
Old body style
My fox is the same way if its got a charged battery and its not dead its gonna start right up everytime no matter how long it sat or how cold its crazy
The steering rack and tie rods going out seems to be a common thing too, just replaced mine this summer
Curious as to why you would change the entire rack why the inner tie rod ends were the problem. Cheaper that way in CA?
If the rack is broken, replacing the tierods doesn't really help...
Those inner tierods were fckd too though.
Those ford pumps hate "power steering fluid" they are suppose to use atf fluid
or hydraulic fluid
🇺🇸🏎💨🇺🇸
909 like SoCal 909 ?
What in the mustache 😂
