u dont see many fitness models who are flexible enough to touch their toes with straight legs. Clearly ur training partner is very useful at helping you keep ur body in good condition
converse, unlike ur traditional nike and new balance running shoes, have a completely flat bottom and isn't arched. it promotes pushing through ur heels more, leading to more quad and overall leg engagement.
Hey Steve, have you ever tried flexing the glutes (pelvic thrust almost) when you're up on the concentric motion in your squats? If so whats your thoughts on it? and would recommend it?
I wish the camera man would show us more of the legs during the squat so we can see the form, the tight shots of steve's torso (while much appreciated) leave me guessing to the form.

you might be using too much weight. when you squat, do u tend to lean forwards slightly as you come back up. I do this when i have too much weight on the bar and its a sign that im going too heavy if i cant keep good form
Keep your head up, but keep it neutral with the spine. You should be looking at yourself in the mirror, but you shouldn't be looking up at the ceiling.

explain how converse effects your lower back when squatting? flat footed shoes are best to squat in, also the high top converses have a bit of ankle support.
I'm not a pro and definitely not as educated as Steve by I'm pretty sure hyper flexing in any workout (pelvic thrusts) isn't helpful and can lead to injury. That goes for squats and dead lifts.
i can touch my toes comfortably but i would say 60-70% of the people i know cant. i think if you tend to know more sporty people more of them will bed able to touch their toes. However, what i meant with my comment was that generally alot of people do weight training and dont stretch enough which causes their muscles to shorten and they lose flexibility, but clearly steve knows the importance of staying flexible

it elevates your heels which allows you to go lower and get a better range of motion and i think focus on quads more

Keep your head up, but keep it neutral with the spine. You should be looking at yourself in the mirror, but you shouldn't be looking up at the ceiling.
Correct, keeping your head forward not up is correct form. Looking up puts stress on your neck you don't want that.
i use leg-press ! Cannot do squats because i have scoliosis ! I tried doing them and the next day my back hurt like hell !

Your lower back problem is from your converse. I know because I had the same problem. They have absolutely no support in them shoes.

Best squat is bare feet, closest thing is converses
But yeah, if no issues on knees. Squat deep. Full rom will tear more of the quad up.
