I saw this clip once with the director Elia Kazan's voiceover commentary. Kazan said the actress dropping the glove was a complete accident, not at all in the script. In fact, she immediately tries to pick it up, but Brando, in a complete improvisation, snatches it off the ground and begins to play with it, going so far as to put it on, an act which Kazan notes has subtle erotic undertones. Yeah, that was Brando.
I never get tired of this scene.
If you haven't seen this then you are in for a treat. Great movie with a powerful ending and one that is one of Brando's best.
