  • One of the reasons I watch vinyl- and music-related RUclips videos is because I can discover excellent music that I wasn't aware of. In this video, I spotlight some of the records I sought out because of people talking about them on some of my favorite channels.

Love the t-shirt, never heard of the records, except Exile, of course, but I guess that's the point of the video, right, being turned on to things you are not familiar with. Thanks Robert.

Cool video - The Plantoid album I picked up about a month ago due to it appearing on my RUclips feed. Immediately liked it so I picked it up. Loved it - so much so that it's vying for my fave album of the year so far with the new Judas Priest album. It constantly surprises me, each time I listen I get something new from it it seems. Regarding the vocals, parts of them remind me of the Comus - First Utterance album in their other worldly-ness. I liked it so much I picked up the CD too. Must admit my vinyl - which looks like yours colour wise - is pretty silent, but man it clung to the thick card inner so much I had to ease it out. I gave it a clean and a quick blast with an anti-stat device before playing it though so it might have helped.

Aaaah... I missed the boat on the suggestions... thought you'd only open it up once you hit the 15K! Anyway... I was gonna suggest Rodrigues... he was from your neck of the woods, well - sort of, me thinks!
Anyway - thanks for this... I learned a few things tonight - as the old saying goes... every day is a school day! One day... when I'm big, I want a vinyl wall like you have... but, I think you mentioned a channel there... broke with vinyl... sounds about like I've been all my life!!🤪😁🎶
PS - Congrats on the 15K - now, hurry up and double that - you deserve that too!

Robert, Good set of records. I, too, think the Mick Taylor era of the Stones was amazing. My collection has many albums that VC members suggested, such as alot of garage bands, and newer artists such as Wet Leg, Lainey Wilson, and JellyRoll. Take care, thanks!

I saw a documentary of Sharon Jones & Dap Kings, with live performances...she was battling cancer while touring. Seemed to be a fun live band with an original quality like the old Stax stuff or 60s New Orleans RB. Album by the English band with the cool cover sounds interesting, always up for new music, made by actual humans.

  • @JWD1992
    @JWD1992 Месяц назад

Damn, that Medusa looks particularly cool. The cover screams 80s thrash, but it was recorded in 1975 and sounds like it was recorded in 1971.
Glad to see you were able to re-add Exile On Main St! I agree that this album that sounds great! I am so sick of people saying it was poorly recorded. Yes, there are some sloppy edits (notably on Casino Boogie and Tumbling Dice), but the pressings I have heard all jump out of the speakers. I think it sounds better than the vaunted Aja.
And "I Just Want To See His Face" scared the shit out of me as a young kid. I was playing my dad's copy in my room when I was like five, and when that came on, I ran out of the room. It sounded haunted, haha.

I was introduced to Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings by a radio station I often stream, KRSH, out of the Santa Rosa area in wine country California. They play an eclectic mix of Americana, Rock, Blues, Folk and R&B. I've been introduced to many previously unknown to me artists while listening to them though the years.

About Turkish music, you should definitely check more of it out. Cem Karaca, Barış Manço, Selda Bağcan and the legend Erkin Koray. If you're into psyche you'll love these. Anadolu rock as it's called is my greatest discovery and the reissues are easily accessible at least in Europe. Guerssen/Pharaway Sounds based in Spain is especially reliable, but I also got some Turkish reissues. Obviously no originals.

The exception to new doing old, and that's Harry Connick Jr. I was way into him in the early 90s. At that time, he was the only one doing it because big band (except like Brian Setzer, but he wasn't a crooner) was way out of favor (the original big band is still out, sadly) and he brought it back alive and now you got Buble, Diana Krall and such. Yes, down with taxes, unless you're a statist.

Love Numero group. I've got that Medusa album. I picked it up as a blind buy when they did a pop up shop when they were at Stax. I went there hoping they had Savage Young Du. Which sadly didn't make the trip. But that is one of the few labels ill do blind buys. Especially the compilations be it soul or the Yacht Rock releases. I believe they do have a store in Chicago. I get weekly emails from Numero.

I’d rather see you review Rembrandt Pussyhorse by Butthole Surfers. I’m being serious. Or a review of a Death Valley Girls album. My comment is far from a clueless, insulated wine mom in the suburbs. It is a comment from someone who has seen first-hand what happens when there is a "shortage" of tax money. The first things to go are those that serve the communities without obvious commercial benefits. Not paying taxes will not fix this broken system, it will only make it worse.

    •  Месяц назад

@@RobertFithen sorry to say it shows you don't understand how power or the Federal Reserve system works
if we all stop paying taxes it would freak power TF out.
power relies on the people being divided and living in fear
the vast majority of people pay taxes and the system is still broken and will continue to be broken until the dollar is worthless, see Saudi Arabia using other currencies to sell their oil instead of using the petrodollar exclusively
the song seems to be about federal taxes, not state or sales tax
bottom line, the vast majority will continue to pay taxes so your point of view will prevail until the system crashes
