Achilles tendon rupture healed with stem cells. 1st patient worldwide to reach tendon regeneration.

Manuel Monzó, 74-years-old patient, had been suffering pain for 10 years, because a rupture on the Achilles tendon, which not only had an impact on his quality of life but also on his personality due to the pain he suffered.
He came to ITRT for other reasons and after explaining his case, we decided to include him in the tendon regeneration clinical trial we were conducting at that time.
For the first time in history, 20 million cultured stem cells were implanted in the Achilles tendon and it was incredible to see how after 8 months his injury had almost disappeared and a year later he had a brand new tendon.
Manuel Monzó has become the FIRST person in history to having the Achilles tendon regenerated with stem cells, avoiding surgery and annoying scars.
He created brand new tissue on the tendon, a tissue that, until now, was considered completely impossible to regenerate.
