Peace Train, Where Do The Children Play, Wild Word, Father and Son...so many hits.
Glad you mentioned "Where do the children play" "Switch on summer from a slot machine" Agree totally Kelly!!
❤❤❤❤❤my favorite song father and son 😢😢😢😢😢
This song is an old hymn and is often sung in churches today. It is about God’s creation 🙏🏽
My mum's favourite hymn. We played this at her funeral. I cried like a baby and always do when I hear this.
🫂🫂🫂🫂
"Morning Has Broken" is a Christian hymn written by Eleanor Farjeon in 1931. The song is set to the traditional Scottish Gaelic tune, "Bunessan".
The song became well known after Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam) sang it on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat.
The song is often used in morning prayer.
The song's lyrics connect the morning of an ordinary day to the first morning of creation.
The song's message is that the same God who created the first day is the same God who made every day
I did not know this. Thanks for the info.
Now that you have kids, play the whole 'Tea For the Tillerman' for them by Cat Stevens. It's beautiful like when children read books such as fairy tales, just beautiful, becomes a lifetime memory.
Please check out Wild World, and Peace Train! Two of my favorites by him! 🙏
Two of mine as well! I think Mr. Big did a decent cover of Wild World.
Great Choices!!! Pretty much anything that comes from Cat Stevens is amazing❣️
Came here to say the same thing ❤
Mathew and son
Also where do the children play is very unique
He has a unique voice. You know it’s him when the first word is sung.
I loved the way Cat Stevens sounded. He made me feel comfortable. safe and happy.
He has a voice like a warm hug.
@@victoriabarr255 and his looks were dreamy… love him still
Cat Stevens' music is the music of a kind man.
This is an actual English/Scottish hymn from 1931. Cat Stevens eventually converted to Islam in 1977. This song peaked at #6 on the billboard hot 100 in 1972
Indeed! I grew up a member of the United Presbyterian church, and this song was in our hymnal. It was an occasional selection for Sunday services.
I was also raised Presbyterian (my grandparents came to the US from Scotland) and this was a favorite hymn to sing in church. I loved the hymn, but Cat Stevens' version made me love it even more. I was so excited when I started hearing it on the radio and then we would sing it in church. 😁
It's in the hymnal of the Episcopal Church in the US.
Cat Stevens a beautiful human being pure heart
Literally, anything from Cat Stevens is worth exploring. He was a prolific songwriter, and amazing artist.
Cat Steven's absolutely a class of his own! ❤
Wild World is my favorite
Peace Train , Wild World, Oh Very Young - and so many more
"Oh Very Young" definitely will tug at your heart. I was going to mention it, too. I loved everything Cat Stevens did.
"Father and Son" is my favorite from him.
Me to😢
I love Cat Stevens.. takes me back to the glory of childhood.. lightenbugs riding bikes... staying outside til near sunset. Just playing with friends and our radio. Swimming pool or down at the creek riding in the back of the truck if my sisters friends would let us hitch a ride lol.
Glory days of Generation X in the beginning ✨️
I loved Cat Stevens also, then he turned into Yusuf Islam. A man who called for the death of Salman Rushdie for blasphemy against the prophet. A man who said maybe some of his charitable donations might have gone to Hamas and to Omar Abdel-Rahman, the blind Egyptian sheik convicted of seditious conspiracy for plotting to bomb New York City landmarks.
This is a Hymn I used sing at school every morning in assembly . 68 years later i still sing it to Jesus .
Me too, back in the 50's and 60's.
@@user-moonbeam77 i was 3 in 1960 and started nursery but iw was sung all through the years
Yep you got it, a praise song for the gift of God's creation 🌾
As many here have said, this is an old hymn. I worship with the churches of Christ, and our song services are a cappella -- no musical instruments, just the human voice. This hymn sung a cappella is absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for reacting to this song, I've not heard it in way too long. Be well and blessed, brother.
When I was young my Catholic Church started having guitar during Mass. This was one of the songs.
I was in Primary School 1976 - 1983 and Morning Has Broken was played every morning assembly. Beautiful song.
Father and Son is full of feelings. A dialogue between....
I've been listening to this song since it came out in 1971, and it never fails to make me tear up. Beautiful! Great reaction. Thanks for appreciating our music!
I Love Yusuf [the artist formally known as Cat Stevens] Morning has broken give me peace after a stressful Day, When I'm tired i listen to his "Moon Shadow" it makes me dream away.
Cat was always a spiritual seeker, reflected in so many of his compositions trying to discover his place in life. So although he didn't write Morning Has Broken (already a well established Christian hymn), it perfectly expresses the peace and comfort of living in the security of faith and gratitude. A favorite since I was in high school, still in my playlists.
Cat Stevens was one of my favoirte singer/songwriters from the 70s. Not only was he super talented, but also HOT!!! back in the day. 😉
Yes he was
Cat Stevens "HOW CAN I TELL YOU" is the most beautiful song I've ever heard (original studio version) ❤❤❤
Yep... holds very special memories for me that one
This piano is the genius Rick Wakeman!
I didn't know that. I used to follow Rick Wakeman when Twitter was in a better place than now. His tweets were/are really funny.
When he did the session he had the choice of being paid a session fee or to take royalties. He was broke, so took the session fee. Admits that wasn't his best decision! Also, he didn't write down the actual music at the time, so in later years he gad to listen to the record to relearn it!
@@premasru - His piano solo of this song is next level:

BTW, Twitter has Never been better than it is now. A Non-Censored public square, Finally. Most people don't know that Facebook, RUclips, Google, etc. etc. are ALL censored, you only see what they ALLOW you to see.
Grew up listening to Cat Steven's in 70s. So much great music
Me too! I wore out Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat.
Me to ❤❤❤❤
Cat Stevens is so amazing. Beautiful song wrighter, beautiful composer, beautiful voice.❤❤❤
Yusuf said that he imagined his mother's voice when he sang this song. So sweet! BTW - I wish you would re-listen to Father and Son with the understanding that it's a dialogue between the two. I don't think you caught that when you did your reaction. The song is amazing.
Cat Stevens/Yusuf writes beautiful music. I fell in love with him in 1970 when Tea for the Tillerman came out 55 years ago. It's timeless. Thanks BP.
Tea for the Tillerman is a great album.
All of his music is beautiful ❤️.
Thx! That’s Rick Wakeman from “Yes” on piano. Classic hymn!
He doesn't know who Rick Wakeman is.....
@ he might know who yes is.
This is an old hymn , we used to sing it in morning assembly when I was in primary school x
BEAUTIFUL SONG !!!!! BEAUTIFUL MAN !!!!! THANKS !!!!!
Anything cat Steven’s/Yusuf Islam is soul soothing and peaceful. Like you said you feel safe and at home
Cat Stevens is a person of hope. I missed him when he left. I still listen to all his songs.
Just so you know (and, you probably do), he's actually been back now for quite a while with tours and new music.
@@jrdlabs True, but it’s different. What I love is Yusuf is really involved with helping children around the world.
True that. I was happy he came back to public singing@@jrdlabs
I love Cat Stevens, every song he has written is poetry and takes my breath away. His voice is so lovely, and he’s a handsome fellow isn’t he. I remember Carly Simon sharing how excited she was when she was going out on a date with him, lol, can’t blame her. Morning Has Broken is so beautiful, and so many more like Wild World (good one with two daughters), Sad Lisa, and many many more. Thanks B.P.💕👍
This song is in our hymnal at church.
Ours, too. Early on, along with others that are appropriate to a morning service. It took me the longest time before I could quit hearing this version in my head as we'd sing it!
We sang it in Girl Scouts.
I am 71 and I sang it in both my Primary School (aged 5 to 10) and Secondary Modern School (aged 11 to 16) I liked the fact Cat sang it the way we did, he didn't jazzit up or modernise it to get a chart hit from it.
(Rick Wakeman played piano on this too,
...have you heard of Rick Wakeman - who also used to be in 'Yes')
OH: the feeling you get from CAT STEVENS / YUSIF!!! LOVE HIM!!! ENJOY, BP!!! HUGS from TEXAS!
I remember singing this when i was a child at my grandma's church. My grandma loved this song.
He was born Michael Stevens (or Steven Michaels), Changed it to Cat Stevens for music, almost drowned, and became a Muslim and changed it to Yusuf Islam. I love 'Wild World', 'Peace Train', etc... Almost every song he did.
His actual birth name was Steven Demetre Georgiou. Greek father, Swedish mother.😉
@@rebeccacurtis6680 I have read what I wrote. I also read that one parent was French and the other was Arabic. So, I have to disagree. (and nothing about him looks Swedish or Greek.) I have also heard him interviewed. Check your sources........
According to Wikipedia, he was originally Steven Demetre Georgiou - son of a Greek Cypriot father and Swedish mother - born and raised in London. I couldn't find any reference to the Michaels (or Michael) name you mentioned, although he did perform briefly under the name Steve Adams, while studying at Hammersmith School of Art in the mid-60s.
@JeanetteFaith I wasn't trying to be rude or anything. Every source I have concurs that info. Wikipedia, Google, Songwriters Hall of Fame, Gold Radio, etc. all state his birth name as Steven Demetre Georgiou. Father was Greek Cypriot & mother was Swedish. Family owned a restaurant in London, where he was born. He obviously took after his dad's Greek side more than the Swedish.
"The Wind" by Cat Stevens is about the most beautiful song less than 2 minutes long. Peace Train, Moonshadow, Wild World, etc, etc, etc. Killer voice, deep lyrics, wonderful music. Can't go wrong.
This song touches my soul all these years later. I first heard my Mom playing this song when I was a little kid in the 1970s. Such a unique quality that always rings true somehow internally about what is important and what is not. It also reminds of my Mom and Dad who are both no longer with us. Peace to all.
This always has been one of absolute favorites by Cat! Thanks for all your reactions BP.
first cut is the deepest, moonshadow, peace train ,wildworld
Always loved Cat Steven’s
We used to sing this in primary school.
My hands down top artist! Psyched you are reacting to his music.
It is actually a traditional hymn! Very commonly sung in primary schools (under 11's), in the UK in 70's.
A school assembly classic
Wild World is a very good one.
Great Song! ❤
Ditto
I feel so emotional and totally thankful for life and breath and a new day. I had heard this song before but never listened to the lyrics. I love how you break it down and discuss the words and your interpretation. 💕 That was beautiful.
Cat Stevens changed my life.
Thank you Harold and Maude.
Anything from Tea for the Tillerman.
•On the Road to Find Out
•Miles From Nowhere
• But I Might Die Tonight
I'm gonna stop cause I'll just end up listing most of the cataloge lol
The reason why I took piano lessons.❤
The song I love the most.
You need to react to this 1971 film called Harold and Maude. Cat Stevens does the entire score for it. It is a timeless classic
My aunt showed that movie to a 16 year old me. I was basically Harold. The movie and especially the music and Cat Stevens changed me to my core.
One of my fave movies of all time
Oh Harrold! That's wonderful! Go and love some more🥰🥰
Beautiful song. ❤️✌🏻🎶
I was lucky enough to see Yusuf/Cat Steven’s at the Academy of Music in Philly and he had an orchestra with him, what an amazing show. I think this was originally a Christian hymn set to a Gaelic tune called Bunessan
Cat Stevens amazing singer songwriter, every time hear this song it takes me back to spring and summer days of the 1970’s …thank you for this reaction 😊
Another artist of my time… His music was different, beautiful, artistic and memorable👏👏
Oh, I love Cat Steven's so! Hi music exudes tenderness, kindness and love. Thank you for your sweet reaction! 💜🌅😌
OMG, I can't believe it...YES!!! Cat Stevens is at the top of my list & THIS is the most beautiful song of God & creation EVER❤. My dad had an album collection to die for, everything from Cat to Jethro Tull, Bee Gees, Van Halen, CCR, even Kraftwerk (Autobahn, I think that's how it's spelled) you name it, he had it. Cat, for me, #1❣❣❣🙏
I attended a Mennonitr church for a few years. This was one of the hyms in their hymn book. I was always pleased when we sang this as a congregation. Usually made me tear up.
Especially the part about Jesus feet passing through the dew on the wet grass. Goosebumps.
I love this hymn. I never heard it in church but Cat's rendition is church for me. We sang it in Junior High choir in 1972 after it was released. I also love the piano accompaniment. Other favorites of Cat Stevens - The First Cut is the Deepest, Lady D'Arbanville, Wild World, Oh Very Young, and the entire Numbers album.
Such a beautiful rendition of this hymn. Stunning.
What I have seen so far is that you are a good man. You have a warm heart. Keep up the amazing videos. Bless you brother.
I have known and sung this hymn all my life. Love it so much it was one of the hymns I had for my wedding and on a morbid note I would like it at my funeral
Cat Stevens was his stage name. His birth name is Steven Georgiou. His father was Greek Orthodox, and his mother was Baptist, so he had a Christian upbringing. In the late 70s, he converted to the Muslim religion and changed his name to Yusuf.
Yusuf Islam.
One of my all time favorite songs! This is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard in my life. Thanks for including it on your channel!
Makes me think of my mom. She would tolerate her kids music as we listened on the car radio me and my siblings singing along. But after this song came on she made a point to tell us she liked this one.
Love that you picked this. You GOTTA play WIlD WORLD, PEACE TRAIN. WILD WORLD is very bittersweet. They were huge when I went to college 50 years ago. Classics.
A beautiful song by him is Sad Lisa-heartfelt and mellow
The first time I heard this when I was a kid, I teared up a little bit. It moved me in a way I still can't explain to this day
Wild World and Father and Son. 😍
Truly timeless. This song will never lose its beauty or its message. Can’t remember the name of the pianist who also created those runs but he was one of the greats in the recording industry.
He wrote the first cut is the deepest, first recorded by P.P. Arnold. Definitely worth listening to PP Arnold is a life story worth digging into.
Loved Cat Stevens since the 1960s.
Not only is this a great song but… You could hear it on the radio.
Yes! Nowadays it would probably be banned because it is too pure-hearted and good 💯
Who knew that back when he had this song on the radio, that it was actually an old hymn?❤
I did not. But learned that when I went to a Catholic funeral a few years ago.
🌸 love cat.....🤍
Wild World a great song too!
My brother who has now passed from leukemia always had me play this on the piano when I was young. I miss him so whenever I hear it. Special memories.
Wow! I've loved and listened to this song for 50+ years and never knew all of the words!
I’m sure someone has mentioned it but that is Rick Wakeman from “Yes” on the keyboard. Saw Cat in Seattle in 1976. Hella show. Oh, and Cat did the illustrations on this.
Love your reaction. Yes, a great way to greet the new day.
In 1970 I was introduced to his music when his song "Lady D'Arbanville" came on the radio in the car, been a fan ever since.
seeing the album cover( boy with cat) reminds me of my dad who passed when i was 15, i am now 50 and still have this album which was his and listen to it on his old record player all the time❤! thank you for the reaction
Kat had all the kittens meowing....he is the perfect person to travel over the road singing for everyone.
I concur with those who say check out Wild World and Peace Train. Cat Stevens converted to Islam in the 70s and his Muslim name is Yusuf. Very sweet gentle melodic voice
I grew up singing this song in Sunday school. Cat Stevens' version is perfection.
THANKYOU!
🌸 I always described his voice as feeling like silk
I saw him in 1974 on a Saturday night. That Sunday, he surprised the congregation at a local Unitarian church when he showed up and sang this during the service. The piano is played by Rick Wakeman of the band Yes
loved this song, from all the way back in the early 70's, when it came out. another fine reaction...... thank you..........
Cat Stevens - "Peace Train," "Oh Very Young", and "Wild World."
Moonshadow and Another Saturday Night are a couple of more good ones.
@@vickeyadkins1481 They sure are!
Yes, Harold and Maude is a great classic American movie. I’ve seen it many times. The theme goes against conformity. It makes you rethink life.
Cat’s beautiful songs throughout the movie are very inspiring.❤
We play this often around my house. My kids love it. Pure music and a pleasant sound. We have so much to be thankful for.
My favorite song of his is The Boy With the Moon and Star. I'm glad that Cat was allowed back in the country after being banned. This is college for me. Thanks for playing it.
Dude, SITTING is still my favorite Cats song, then OH VERY YOUNG.
Where do the Children Play is wonderful.❤
