Hello! Hello! It's Dori. Not Doris😻...so happy to hear you read my comment/question. I feel famous! Thanks for answering. I love your content, even though I am not a minimalist, I get a lot of inspiration and helpful tips on how to live with less clutter, and I am working on adding experiences, instead of stuff! I love that concept! Be well.
I've really enjoyed seeing how your furniture free setup has evolved over time. You two are such an inspiration! Have you considered adding a squatting stool to your toilet? We just upgraded our Squatty Potty to a Lillipad, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I put my feet on the lily pads for a deep squat, my husband uses the half-height shelf in front, and guests can sit normally on the toilet without moving it. Maybe it's time for a new lifestyle experiment?
Ooooh, that's an excellent idea. We once saw a video by Ben Greenfield, who recommended squatting on your toilet seat. 😅🤔🧐A step too far for us, though. We'll definitely looking into getting a toilet step (no doubt it can double as something else). 🤣
I love your new place and that it has an enclosed area outside for Miles. He looks like he may be a bengal cat with those beautiful markings. Enjoy your new place girls, it looks amazing.
Thank you. All three of us love it! Miles is apparently a European short-hair tabby. His markings are gorgeous, though, and we totally agree-we're not biased at all. 😂
Congratulations on your new place! Miles does seem very chill. And thank you for your answer to my question. The negatives for my family situation would include, my 94 year old father who needs a nice chair to sit and sleep in when he visits a couple times per week, an adult daughter who lives at home-who would not be on board with furniture free, a partner who is half on board but still wants some furniture, friends and family who come to visit who would not sit on the floor. My senior dog who chooses people furniture over dog beds and pads every chance he gets! lol And finally questioning why I would have the size house I have if I had no furniture, which seems like you have solved by continuing to downsize your space. What happened to your Feng Shi green bookcase corner? Also very interested to see your local shopping options and what your zero waste store looks like. Thanks for letting us peek into your life :)
We hear you about Dad. It would be rude to tell an almost centenarian to sit on the floor. As for your adult daughter... 🤔 seriously, though, the easiest way is to have less rather than no furniture. That way, you and your partner have space to hang out on the floor, and you still have furniture for guests and aging dogs. 😅 The bookcase was gifted to the couple who bought the apartment.
great video as always. x yes a shopping trip would be great. I heard this the other day " Mainstream is not the only stream" I love it and think you will too.
I didn't realise u guys were South African until you said Rands😂😂 i love your content and lifestyle so much. And Miles omg i love him already, he reminds of my little kitty Danju died 2 months ago
You didn't pick it up from our accents? 🤔😂 I'm so glad that Miles can remind you of Danju. Such a beautiful name, what does it mean? ❤ Glad you're enjoying the content, that always makes us so happy to hear!
Thanks, we're loving it! We have a shopping trip video planned and there's also a morning routine vid on the cards. We'll add your other requests to our ideas list too. 😀
I like the Q and A section. My question is do you have a chair or two hidden away for guests who may not be able to sit on the floor? Or do you just meet friends in the neighborhood cafes or other places? Your new space is very nice - love the garden!!
Right now we don't have any furniture at all. If we want to meet with someone who can't sit on the floor we go to a coffee shop. Friends that are able are happy to sit on the floor with us. 😄
I'm so pleased to find you're a patron of Jen's channel, Silver and Solo, which I also subscribe to, as well as your channel. All very sorted, sensible women - the world can never have too many of you! (I'm working on the sorted, sensible thing but haven't got there yet.) I love how happy Miles is since the move. That's always a good thing. I have a little garden that my three cats absolutely love. The previous home I had also had an outdoor garden space but it was all concreted over so horrible for them, really... Now they have grass, and you can see how much more relaxed it makes them. That thing with storage... people have so much STUFF, that's why they need so much storage. Daft, really. We don't need most of what we collect and then keep "just in case".
Jen has some great ideas. It's amazing how many older RUclipsrs (women especially) are showing up. We need older folks to show us that life can be awesome (even better) as we get older. Happy for your kitties! Concrete doth not a garden make. They need grass and plants and stuff. 😄
🤗 The Purr-fect place for the Three of You! Built-in cabinets are the biggest BOON !!! You get to “make order”, close the cabinet doors, and get on with LIVING. Would love to “go shopping” one video 😄. REALLY Beautiful space !!! 🩵 -V
Your new home is lovely! Would you mind sharing where you purchased your camping mattress? Is it foldable? Enjoyed the Q&A! Your garden space is wonderful! So good to see Miles enjoying it. My kitty, Zimberly Mahchucha loves being outside too. She went missing and I just got her back last week! ❤❤❤ It would be fun to go shopping with you! Take care!
Wow that must have been stressful for your kitty to go missing. Glad she's home again! Love the name btw. We got our mattresses from Takealot (South Africa's version of Amazon), you can roll them up. Take a look at our "sleeping on the floor" video - we demo how we roll them up. 😁
@@MostlyMindful Thanks! A narcissistic ex abducted her and dumped her 27 minutes from home. She was gone four months and ten days. Thanks to someone checking for lost pets on the internet we were able to bring our 21 year old tuxedo beauty home!!! She'd lost a lot of weight, but has already gained some back. So happy to have her home!!!

Thank you for the tour ladies. Looks like a very positive move for you all. Although I don't think I could do furniture free I have been inspired by you both to sit on the floor more. It's always something I hated doing even as a kid! But, being a similar age, I'm conscious that I want to age well and being more flexible is a part of what I'm aiming for. So I'm currently stting on my camping mat which I can make into a chair with an accessory I have so I guess it's a bit like your yoga chairs really - ground level but with a back. It's sitting with nothing to lean against that I find tricky atm. Hopefully that will improve with more practice!
It definitely improves the more you do it. In the beginning, we always needed a backrest, but now we only use one occasionally, e.g., when we're watching a movie or something. Meditation, eating, etc., are all done without one. Well done for making the effort; your future self will thank you big time! 😁
Will you be getting a rug? The new home is gorgeous! So happy for you both. BTW, I LOVE what I affectionately call "potpourri" meals where you finish off leftovers in the fridge/cupboards (i.e. enchiladas and mashed potatoes)
Thank you! Yes, we used to move a lot. But for now, we've decided to settle for the foreseeable for our kitty's sake. The OG deserves a little quiet in his life. 😍
Yay, we're happy to hear you're watching some of the old videos. We tend to make camping trips as easy as possible. So Wazoogles (wazoogles.com/) oat pots for brekkie. They're a bit pricey but easy and a real treat! And then salad type goodies, fresh bread, vegan cheese, that kind of thing. 😀
Sporty works full-time as a project manager, and I manage our blog and RUclips channel. The plan is for us to eventually work on this together so she can quit her 9-6. 😁🤞
I was reassessing my supplements to see if I could downsize there (I only take 6) and came across a recent video from Dr. Neil Bernard stating one should only be taking a supplement where they tested that they needed it (B-12 for vegans and possibly D are most common) and nothing but that one type (no multivitamins, etc.) as you could be getting too much of something you don't need. I am going to get off all but one (I swear by magnesium in the evening) and have bloodwork done after a few months and assess whether I need any more. I ask because it looked like you had several. I continue to think about this area so was curious on your thoughts. thanks.
We're huge fans of Dr Neal. Have you seen his TED talk on the best brain foods? It's really good. We also do blood tests to ensure we're on track with our supplements. Sporty is on an Ayurvedic protocol to address metal poisoning, which is why our drawer is so full. 😅 We both take magnesium at night. Such a win!
@@MostlyMindful I've seen many of his talks and RUclips videos (as well as many of his peers that share his philosophy) but not specifically his TED talk so I will check that out...thanks. Glad to hear Sporty is able to address the metal poisoning with the Ayurvedic supplements...my youngest did high doses of IVs with her naturopath to clear out metals and although pricey, it worked (she had multiple issues the IVs helped so much with). Hopefully once she is clear you can simplify that as well. So far, almost one week in, I'm still feeling really good on only 1 supplement and the magnesium at night, so hoping this works!! It will also make traveling easier. Take care!!

Hi Pam, sorry about that. We put yoga mats down for now, which seems to have helped a bit. Mid-term, the plan is to buy a rug, and we're also looking into a decent microphone. We bought one, but the quality wasn't great, so we're looking at something better. Unfortunately the budget is a small issue right now but we'll keep trying! Thank you taking the time to comment. 😍
