I managed to land a sale on one of these though sadly it was 150. Still, since I also managed to get a Nemesis for 50, I figure I'm doing well overall. Nah though, I'm not convinced the Prometheus is worth 200. I'm not convinced ANY Nerf product to date is worth 200 dollars.
I got the Prometheus on sale for 150 too some worker from toys r us (I’m from Canada) said it was on sale cause they were gonna remove it and replace it with new guns so I was one lucky duck

Paid $149 on amazon for it. It’s really a fun blaster. I am so glad Hasbro brought this to market. I did see this on amazon one time and very quickly I should point out for $119. Enjoy!
Doesn't have crazy features? ...The gun itself is crazy enough as it is. Jesus man. The Nemesis we were paying 120 a piece for from Canada to get it before HvZ in Athens. 200 For this is not a bad price. It comes with a full hopper worth of ammo as well, guess people forget that one.
The ammo, brand new MSRP prices, is only 40$. That's official nerf prices, too. 150 rounds of the superior Dart Zone ammo is 20$. Headshot ammo is even cheaper.
@@WalcomS7 I wouldn't call off brand foam balls superior. They are basically almost the exact same thing, when I used them at HvZ they performed the same. My point being, you get 200 rounds with the amazing blaster, so of course they are gonna add the price of ammo to the price of the blaster. Nerf has always been a bit greedy. I'm glad the gun doesn't have any annoying features, a crap scope? A grip you never should use? It's an underslung LMG style blaster, it does what it was designed to do and perfectly. Suppressive fire and crowd controlling zombies lol.
Double the capacity of the the nemesis, double the price is what I thought of it. My local target still has it for $199. I’ll keep my nemesis, it’s fine for me and on 2s it’s rate of fire is pretty much the same as the Prometheus.
This, combined with the Overwatch licensed blasters being actual new shells, makes me want Zarya's Particle Cannon in Rival form. But I doubt it'll happen, as it'd be easily three hundred bucks or more with the combination of markup for the license and the sheer SIZE of the thing. Zarya's 6'5" and it comes up to roughly her armpit in the "Casual" victory pose. So a Particle Cannon blaster would need to be nearly six feet long. But I still want it so badly.
That is false on both accounts. Rival rounds will only go farther if they curve upwards and catch the wind. In a controlled environment Darts are far more stable at higher velocities because they are a much weightier and aerodynamic projectile. 150+ FPS Rival is essentially unusable, while 150+ FPS on an Accustrike dart is a laser. The main reason is that a rival round has more surface area so it's velocity drops off faster, and then it's affected more by the wind because it's not heavy enough.
I was going to say something myself, but the fuzzy walrus did for me. I have plans on comparing the Magnus to the Kronos, and after using both in stock wars, I learned that Mega Accufakes are far superior in accuracy to Rival ammo... by troves.

I personally feel that the nemesis is a better blaster the ergonomics with the traditional grip and stock is better for competitive play as it is good for aim and you can reload without a sling I also can fit a Lipo far easier from what I can tell so far as the Prometheus uses a proprietary battery pack it also has far better mod products from the community
It's a collector piece, I mean, the prices are still up all these years later. I sorta justify the price because you look at the asking prices of Nerf Limited blasters. I mean yeah you get a cool box (lol) but we are basically paying 3 or 4 times just for a different shell and paint job. And box lol

Don't you have the bolt action kit for the prophecy? That's over $200. There're plenty of shells, internals, and accessories that get to be in the same price range. I just don't understand all the flak the prometheus is getting when the same amount is spent on other related products. Is it because it's expensive as stock? Luckily a lot of the nerf youtubers get sent free products so they have money to spend on this.
A spring thunder is 180$ and debatably that's worse than a Prometheus, but the difference between blasters like the bolt-action Prophecy and Spring Thunder against things like the Prometheus is that those give us something we don't have and wouldn't have otherwise. They're beautiful, custom made blasters that do things we don't normally have versus a stock Prometheus that, while amazing is still comparable to a 50$ Quantum.
Not a fan of the proprietary battery. Several years from now when the battery dies or you lose/damage it and Hasbro stops making them, you're screwed (unless you mod, then you're fine). Not everybody mods, so those people are forced to eventually learn how to mod or throw it away.

We're talking about features on a Nerf minigun, not a custom paintjob and body build. It wouldn't have been much harder to include a backpack mounted hopper and rotating turret here. As this video states the blaster just doesn't do enough to warrant the $200 price tag.
I'm gonna go against the grain and say the Prometheus is just a bad blaster. But! It's not really the fault of the blaster itself...I shall elaborate below. For starters there is already an existing battery pack with what appears to be identical voltage(if I'm reading mine correctly, these old eyes aren't what they used to be). That's an entire department adapting both a shell and battery to fit into a brand new compartment that quite frankly is prone to corrosion and damage by comparison to the norm. So not only is that a waste of time, money, effort/energy, it's also bumping the price up for RND reasons alone.. by a substantial amount. One can almost be entirely certain the price is easily $50 USD higher than it would be cause of this one piece by itself. So after the battery we also have the blasters battlefield role. Sure it fires great, accurately, and even to a decent range, but why are we forced to wield this beast like the heavy gunner from TF2? It would've been much steadier to aim if it had a tripod swivel. Mobility is of course important but with such a massive capacity the role of the blaster should not be dissimilar to the rhino fire. If you wanted mobility you wouldn't be carrying several THOUSAND rival rounds (most of which you're about to lose forever). Just moving around with all those loose balls is begging for bumps, hills, the curb on a road, a random rock to trip you up and force you to spend the next 30 seconds collecting flying ammo instead of shooting suppressing fire. Conversely if you don't carry absurd amounts of ammo your operational time is going to be around 20 seconds of shooting. Then you gotta either become a zed, or spend an hour collecting balls. You could switch to a secondary but honestly you'll end up using that the rest of the game. I guess my beef here is mainly a cost vs role vs fun situation. Cost is obscenely high both to purchase and operate. Role is entirely unclear as it's just a mishmash of things that don't really serve a purpose besides emptying your wallet. Fun is totally subjective and while the blaster could definitely be a lot of fun it just doesn't weigh in as well as something like a left handed hyperfire(they're actually comfortable for lefties, go figure). Those are my thoughts.

Getting it new for $130 when a new Nemisis and rechargable battery pack costs $130, the Prometheus was absolutely worth it.

I have 2 of these because on my first one I cannot remove the screw that holds the battery in. It just rotates like if is loose on the inside.

Properly modified Rapidstrike is a scary laser beam of foam.

For $200 you could build it out of a Scorpion, a case fan, a five-gallon water bottle, and some bits and bobs.
With Hasbro's mass production capabilities it could be a lot fancier than that at the same price point.
