All internal parts are easily accessed behind the flush plate.
Flush plate clips into place, so its simple to remove and replace when servicing the internal mechanisms.

This is a perfect example luxury vs practical. Ordinary toilets are ugly but easily serviceable while this type of toilet is aesthetically pleasing, but can be very costly to maintain.

I have had one for 7 years but need to do some maintenance on it now. Does the cover plate just pull off? I've tried to gently lever mine off, but no luck.

Hi, yes for most of the flush plates you can just push the plate up from the bottom and then pull the bottom away from the wall.

leaking inside the wall, on the other side of the waterproofing? This is what scares me about this product. There should be waterproofing under the tile around a toilet, and this unit would then be on the wrong side of the waterproofing.
