Congrats on the DT2R shout out! So close to 200! I had a history of Chicago class in high school and we learned about the World Fares in Chicago. Take care!
Hey thanks! I was shocked and just found out about 2 hours ago or less. Wow, now THAT is a class I'd never skip! I had a teacher who's friend would travel around Europe and such regions and would show slides of her travels. Absolutely bonkers the architecture over there! So fascinating, I don't think I ever listened to a thing I just watched in amazement. You as well, many thanks!
Cool Dave Parker drawing! The Worlds Fair stuff is fun to see. It’s crazy that they built those beautiful and detailed places then tore them down when they were done! Wow! That’s a beautiful Jimmie Foxx card, you don’t see that one every day! Congrats!
Hey Jim! Thank you sir, my "style" (or lack thereof) is cartoony, almost Grand Theft Auto-esque haha... I am NOT an artist! Very kind of you though, I appreciate that. I'm starting to think we heard the wrong story there... Which is odd. But stranger even yet, BJ Penn, Lord Jamal and some other hip-hop and MMA guys did a documentary just a month or so ago here on RUclips called "Old World Order" and it talks about exactly that. It's a fantastic and free watch, highly recommended and almost brand new still. Man, that Foxx is an absolute dream card, thank you very much... I just grabbed a 1933 World Wide Gum as well, should be back from grading soon. Take care Jim and have a great Holidays!
Thanks Brian! I still cannot believe I own that Foxx... The World's Fair is just bonkers to me, I'll dive into that a little more when I get the photo book back from my family. I just cannot wrap my head around it... I'm glad it was intriguing enough to watch my friend - thanks for checking it out and weighing in!
Thanks for watching Brent! He's so humble but when he's on the field he is pumped up! I'm expecting him to make it sooner than later if he can stand the heat of the pro game. Likewise, buddy 🤜
Really great video and items you have of the Chicago worlds fair. It makes me wonder if any of those old buildings are still around. Like, why can’t we have that kind of architecture today??
Thanks Dan! It's quite the rabbit hole my friend, I've been fascinated since around Jr. High. To me it's impossible! I ended up in Revelation to make sense of it, believe it or not! Long story, I'll spare everyone but if you want my theory just email me haha... One is still in Chicago for sure as an art museum. All of the state capital buildings are the same style as well. Many have been demolished and - um - burned down. Or whatever. There's a documentary from a month or so ago on RUclips called "Old World Order". Great watch, I know you liked "Man On Wire" and films like that. It's a doozy but extremely well done.
Awesome pieces from the world's fair!! Really cool to see those 2 cities that long ago. New sub sent over from DT2R'S advent giveaway series! Keep up the great work!
Hey I appreciate that! It's nice to see people enjoy a video or two when I'm just some guy haha. I've been entertained regularly on this platform since around 2007 so even one person enjoying a video means a lot. Thanks again, the sub shall be returned!
Much appreciated! Scott from Reindeer Studios and Sports Card Dad certainly helped rekindle the urge to draw. I do want to do some other iconic cards, without the custom additions. It's so funny to watch, I draw exactly the same as I did in High School now, not one bit better! Should look cool painted though. Lord willing, I will have some opportunities to work soon. Selling cards can pay bills in the meantime, however. The Foxx came from a sheet of playing cards with I believe 8 other players. I think there's an uncut sheet on eBay. Thank you for the kind words!
Many thanks, Matty! Doug is awesome! The craziest part is I was avoiding the advent because of the prize aspect - I usually don't join the contests. I don't want to clog up the amount of entries and I already have so much. Didn't realize what I was missing! Even if I don't enter it's still a fun watch. Ebay is overreaching in so many ways I'm starting to think it's become a branch of the IRS. So intrusive... Thanks again!
Really drawing of Dave Parker. Would love to see it painted. Cool images of the Chicago Worlds Fair. Have you read the book Devil in the White City? Hope you friend’s som makes it to the big leagues!
Thanks Ken! He's a great young man. So intriguing that World's Fair stuff... I've heard the title before, does it have anything to do with the HH Holmes stuff? I watched that show with his relative years back and it was interesting. Murder Castle, yikes! One of these days I'll get bored enough to color in or paint the Parker.
@@kenscardboard Aha! I may have to look into that, thank you for the recommendation, sir. That story is nuts! Merry Christmas to you and the family as well...

Over from DT2R. Good idea for a painting. Love the Jimmy Foxx. Never seen it before. Good luck on your job search. Cheers, mate.

New sub over from DT2R! Very cool pickups! I agree FeeBay is getting ridiculous.

@ it does have to do with HH Holmes and the murders. Have a Merry Christmas.
