  • Lighting up the city of Kyoto each July is the Gion Matsuri! One of the most famous festivals in Japan. Seeing the Gion Festival is a great experience, with the festival dominating the city’s downtown area (Shijo area). This huge festival takes up the entire month of July, with parades, street parties and plenty of food to be enjoyed. Something to definitely put in your trip.

I feel like you're an amazing note taker in school. Your presentation is packed with wonderful and logical information (maps FTW!). I'd be so messy attempting to eat 5:59

Hi Lisa,i loved your video of the parade, the floats look very intricately built and colourful, the weather was perfect,..though a good idea to take precautions with a hat and sunscreen .
The different foods all looked delicious and i would definitely try the frozen mikan,
Thank you for your previous replies, have a great weekend😊

I really enjoyed the background information you presented! Really added context and detail that makes your content so great lisa! Things like the 3 chigo on the float. Makes it more interesting to learn about than just looking at it and saying "oh its just another parade" the sounds really enrich the experience the youre presenting here!
Hashimaki looked really delicious, they def caught my eye. Tamago senbei OMG!!! Youre eating like royalty out there 😂 Feels like night time at festivals is more special tooo

Thank you! I always try to read up abit before hand, I think it makes the experience much more enjoyable when I know what I’m looking at :))))))
Festival food is too fun. But man it’s pricey! The cucumber was 400yen hahahaha and the mikan 500yen. But I think Mikan was really worth it, it tasted like dessert - not just some frozen fruit.

I was invited by a Japanese friend to Kyoto on May 15 to celebrate the Aoi Matsuri, but the festival got cancelled due to intermittent rain. Hopefully, I'll get to see a festival the next time I visit Kyoto.
