    I only have 15 trees, so I move most of them in my yard to have afternoon shade for these 3 months and for the few larger trees I have that are tied down for wind I use a large thin white nylon pillow case 22 x 60 and cover the tree around noon till 7 pm and this works great at protecting my trees from cali's summer heat.

    I made a trellis with a grape growing over it. Provides shade for trees that can’t handle the heat. Ojai gets 100 often. Olives and Oaks are full sun. Great video. Thank you

      Do you trim the grape vine to let light in not during summer?

      @@BaikoenBonsai I try. Vines have a mind of their own

    I've been doing cacti lately. I need to get back to bonsai again.

      Time to get back into the game/ on the horse. Or wait until after the heat waves!

    Water 3 times a day in some trees, maples get a 30% shade cloth. Awesome update on up coming events, unfortunately it's hard to balance bass fishing and bonsai sometimes.

    For me, here in the Phoenix, AZ area, (115+ temps 🥵🥵) it is really tough. I love maples and the way how I keep them here, is using sunblock + Evaporative coolers. It helps a lot. It lowers the temperature 12+ degrees.

      I have hard water does that affect the leaves with hard scale on them?

    • @1969hornet
      @1969hornet 24 дня назад

      @@BaikoenBonsai The hard water here is 800+ (pretty bad). I have a tankless high flow RO water system connected to 2 tanks, that are connected to a pump which I use to water the tree, and also for the evaps too.

    I give them a good drink early in the morning. I wrap old dish towels (white) around all pots ceramic and plastic that have full sun exposure all day. They stay cool. One of my double benches up against my husband's shop, have firs, spruce, larches, pomegranate, and kurume that get full sun until around 2:00. Pots are also wrapped. We made a frame with 3/4 PVC pipe the whole length. Ran heavy cord across the top and made 40 % shade cloth curtains I can pull across as needed.(like shower curtains ) Pull them back after full sun is off of them. Our large deck is fully covered, faces North. Maples under it in bright shade. All the Satsuki are on benches on the edge of the deck. They get morning sun, then bright shade all day until the sun gets all the way around in the evening, then they 😢get a bit more full sun. So far no scorched leaves even at 108 in SW Oregon. Best of luck to everyone in this weird weather change!!. The dish towels and shade curtains have really worked well. Not very attractive but it works.

      Thanks! That’s saying things if you are getting leaf scorch in Oregon.

      @@BaikoenBonsai We were 108 last Saturday. Started out in the morning at 64 degrees. As I am grateful for the cooler starts in the mornings the big swings to hot are a pain.
