Mine field clearance is probably the most terrifying job I could ever think of. I've talked to retired combat engineers and EOD techs who help clear mines and UXO in former conflic zones. Mines will shift with the ground and if you have a "map" becomes more of a suggestion. Plus sometimes assholes will plant anti clearance traps just to make clearance by anyone else even worst. Worst I ever heard of was a field in France that was bombarded by everyone, so mines, UXO, and chemical shells were all mixed together is a cluster fuck of nope. There's a reason why some areas cannot be cleared with current equipment or techniques.

This all happened during the 1970s under the communist party called The Khmer Rouge and their leader Polpot. He decimated his own population by killing anyone perceived as "intelligent". Even wearing glasses. We spent a month there in 2017 and went to both S21 and The Killing Fields. Those places were so horrendous I had a panic attack and couldn't complete the tour. This all happened in the 1970s!

While MrBeast's video highlighting individuals in need brought awareness to important issues, questions have been raised about the effectiveness of the video in translating awareness into tangible support. Some, like Aba N' Preach, have pointed to the discrepancy between the large viewership (1.5 million likes) and the relatively modest fundraising amount ($17,000 as of December 31, 2023) collected through Beast Philanthropy. Comparing these numbers to the average cost of prosthetics ($5,000-$70,000) further adds to the concerns about the concrete impact of the video on the individuals featured.
Additionally, the claim that 1.5 million people "helped" without specifying the number of individuals receiving direct assistance has fueled concerns about transparency and potential manipulation. Critics argue that while the video generated buzz, it's unclear whether it translates into meaningful support for those in need.

What they SHOULD be doing. . . .? Is saying : "Hey, Joe Biden. . . .Mr. Beast helped these people, weren't YOU supposed to do that?" or "Hey US GOVT rep. . . why is Jimmy better at curing these blind people than you who signed for this healthcare bill???"
Use their ability to complain to do good.

    • @JackMelqart
      @JackMelqart 7 месяцев назад

well charities it's a not easy thing. if you dont have someone famous, not many people will donate to the cause, yes it is shitty but it is what it is.
on another note, charity is an org, and people work full time, you can't work people full time without pay. and yes the heads of the org many times do get a high salary, now these money have to come from somewhere. so they have some expenses that need to be paid. like renting a place, utility's and all the other stuff, hired people ect. foundrasing cost also money.
now the issue is when a charity hires a marketing company as a middle man, cos that company will take a really big cut.
example: Atlanta-based marketing company called Softgiving played middleman between the charity and a who’s who of Twitch and RUclips-the likes of OTK, Ludwig Ahgren, aDrive, JustaMinx and other influencers both big and small. And Games for Love wasn’t the only beneficiary. the company took a 42% cut from all the money and only the rest went to the actuall charity.

He must be inspiring his younger fans in a positive way and making them see how good it can feel to help others or just that there's a big world out there and some people go through some real harrowing stuff and need help n kindness. What people should be complaining about, is that we don't have enough people like this online, representing good, respectful behavior for the younger audiences. Instead we have spoiled brats like sssniperwolf or even bigger pompous babies like Hasan Ababy who do nothing but serve themselves.

i never even thought about that angle--that he has a channel directed towards a very young audience and by like, "sneaking" this educational stuff in the middle of all of that he's planting that concept of altruism in these kids' minds. i remember seeing stuff about charities and whatnot when i was a kid and that's all well and good but i was never moved to do anything about whatever was going on because i couldn't relate to it. this type of content is a great way to nudge people towards a way of thinking that's about giving back when you can because he shows the actual direct effects of what can happen when you do that. it's beautiful really.

A great reminder that even if you can't do it at the Mr. Beast level you can still do something and every little bit helps someone somewhere. "Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can" - John Wesley And for Aba to point out that Mr. Beast isn't perfect, but he is doing good things anyway, is also a good reminder to just appreciate that normal people can do some really great things and still be normal people at the end of the day with their own issues to work out, but it doesn't negate the idea that someone benefitted from an act of kindness they performed during that same day. Again, GREAT JOB you guys!

My mom has been an amputee for 7 years. She lost her left leg along with 3 toes on the other. It was very hard to see my mom go through that because my mom was a very independent person who worked hard all her life from cooking and cleaning for her 3 younger brothers, two of them being blind at a young age. To taking care of my older brother and her twin girls while working 3 jobs. My mother never complained, and she took pride in helping her family. But now she's depressed most days because she can't do like she use to anymore and has told me she hates feeling like a burden to us and it's hard to get her to see that she's not. So whatever this guy's reason for helping people out it doesn't matter. If it can help people be independent and feel useful agian I say I'm all for it.

Just to add on to what Aba said at the beginning it doesn't just end with wounded guy's buddies in the field. There's then the subsequent strain on costs and logistics to take care of those soldiers and treat their wounds, and not only that but if the soldier is too wounded to return to the front they go home crippled or disfigured, which could hurt morale at home as well. In the twisted reality of war a broken crippled enemy soldier is often better than a dead one.

I live in a country which is partially covered in mines and since the war which ended almost 30 years ago it is still a non stop work to clear the mines. Government funds it and it is very expensive. People who do it are incredibly knowledgable and just educating them is very expensive, and the whole process is even more expensive and difficult. So to think that many people live in countries that have no means to fund clearing of the mines is really sad. Just knowing this fact gives me context for how important it is to et least help people get their lives back. On the other hand the real job is to clear the mines because there will be more and more people getting hurt each day until that is done. So I would suggest maybe investing some money and even more influence and potential lobbying into finding a way to fund a large scale mine clearing operation. I know this first hand, country only starts to get back on track after mines are cleared.

Now he's doing the polar opposite. Never would have guessed to be honest. He was the definition of brand recognition for a long time, but now he's legitimately spending money on positive changes which is unreal. Lol I'm American and spent some time in Canada while on crutches. Canada is hard to navigate, and the hotels laughed while giving me a key to a second story room with no elevator... Here, in the US, every public building has to have a ramp and accessibility.
I couldn't handle Cambodia as an amputee, no way.

I like the fact that Aba and Preach didn’t just react to the video but didn’t edit out the sponsors of the video by Mr Beast… that’s real support ❤❤❤❤

MrB, is welcome to come help us in Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and all the other pacific islands near us! We’ll gladly accept the areas of help that he has been delving into! Thanks @ Aba and Preach, for responding to cancel culture with Truth and Reality, plus a touch of warmth.

I had significant nerve damage in my legs and hands. I couldn’t walk and needed my 78 year old dad to help me up the stairs. I still walk with a crutch but after 3 years of hardcore supplements and physio it’s remarkably better. It must be so hard for these people to struggle everyday. Be strong people. Peace.

I just broke my foot recently. While a broken bone is no where near as bad as losing a limb. I have had to rely on my family to help me get around and do basic things that I took for granted. Your whole day to day life changes. Experiences like these give you a greater appreciation for what people with physical disabilities go through. I also agree with Aba more now. Having broken my hand before, the immobility of a leg injury is a worse sentence than your hands. I adapted to life fairly successfully not having full use of a hand. My leg, I feel incapable of caring for myself which is very frustrating.

Thanks to Aba and Preach for being the honest view of what we see in our reality. They make light of the truth we are suppressed with. You guys are amazing and ill support till the end. Thank you for being the median in our space and we will make sure to spread the truth to those who need to hear it.

I'm living in an EU country where access for disabled is ridiculous, like ramps with 45-70 degree inclination, blind/deaf people forget it, no access anywhere for you, and we still have a LOT of dirt/unpaved roads. Can't imagine what it's like for people out there...

That’s a huge issue in Afghanistan as well, due to the Soviet Union planting land mines everywhere.

The reason there are so many bombs in Cambodia is worse than Aba's describing. Henry Kissenger had the Vietnam war extended for years to improve Nixon's reelection campaign. Throughout the entire Vietnam war American Bombers would get in trouble if they came back to base with any bombs on board the plane... So the pilots would empty all their unused Bombs in Cambodia

I remember Princess Dianna back in the day really pushing to stop production of land mines, bless her sank years of her life into it! Mr Beast clearly at this point is on a mission to give back to humanity any one pushing against it is the enemy, make no mistake!

Its just jealousy because they don't have the drive and fortitude to do what he does. Documenting the video builds awareness to the issue which i bet most people outside if Cambodia didnt even know existed. Haters gonna hate but the good that he does lasts forever

The ironic thing is how Twitter activists are the first to cry about spreading awareness. But God forbid Jimmy does it through his content. Then it's bad or evil. Geeeeez

    Aba and Preach,
I would like to add a bit of historical context to the video as I have recently travelled to Cambodia and learned more about its history. The unexploded ordinance (leftover bombs, munitions, and landmines) is from two things: the Vietnam war, where America bombed large parts of Cambodia in an attempt to cripple NVA supply lines, as well as the Khmer Rouge.
The Khmer Rouge (translated to “The Red Cambodians”) was the genocidal communist regime led by Pol Pot in the 1970’s. Pol Pot’s version of the communist ideology was by far the worst and most murderous rendition in history; and per capita of the country’s , the worst genocide in history, where nearly 1/4 of the population was murdered. In order to stop Cambodians from fleeing the country, he littered the borders with landmines to prevent people from fleeing.
Despite their unbelievably tragic history, they are some of the kindest, friendliest, and most generous people I have ever met in my life.
