      @@kayesisslemczeal4547 Istanbul is pretty chaotic and crowded, especially at the summer where there are a lot of tourists coming in. If you want to give Turkey a visit I suggest coming as winter, also exploring different parts of the country. Turkey's huge and full of stuff to see and Istanbul is just the surface. As for food, I can't really give you a specific example as our cuisine is very rich and varied. Basically, try every food item you see lol.

    This is an eye-opener into the Afro-Turkish community. I just read about Mustafa Olpak, an Afro-turkish writer whose ancestors hail from my tribe, Kikuyu of Kenya.

      Thank You Sudanese Rapid Support for your comment. I am a bi-racial (not mixed with white) African American. I just recently did a dna test and found out that my ancestors on my dad's side of the family were Iranian, Turkish, Kenyan and Native Indian American (unspecified tribe). Sudanese, Kenyan, and Somalis are all neighbours in Africa.

      Geene Martinez you’re the second African American I’ve heard of who has Persian and Turkish roots. One woman I met a few years ago told me she had Persian and Turkish roots according to her DNA. I wonder what’s the relationship with AA and Turks and Persians

      @@geesihanad2877 Don't know. It did not show on the dna test. It is a possibility because I know that Somali and Kenyan are family by dna. That would be nice if that were the case.

    Turkey is the homeland of the Arabs. All regional peoples of far Eastern Europe to Russia are of Turkic ancestry.And around450AD they invaded and conquered what is now Saudi Arabia (Old Mesopotamia) which was all ancient Black nomad native desert tribes.

      @@kayesisslemczeal4547 They make up less than 1% of the population. If you see a black person in Turkey it's almost always going to be an immigrant. If you want to visit a genuine Afro-Turk community, go to rural İzmir.

      @@janellodge985 Afro-Turks mainly live around rural Western Turkey, there are a few villages around İzmir, but they're a very, very small group so you'd have to go looking.

      Before Turkey? Byzantine? Byzantine ended 700 years ago and at that time black people were used as a slave while the ottomans saw that as brothers in arms and faith...look at the painting of Fatih sultan Mehmet the conqueror...you will see a black warrior.
