My secrete Kennesaw State University (KSU) Insider Info: I graduated KSU in 2011 and have been working at KSU since. I hit tenure & am about to quit. Colleges/Universities & degrees are mostly scams. Unless you know unequivocally that you want to go into a specialized career field , ex: Doctor, Lawyer, Astronaught, etc., then you really don't need a degree. Roughly, 75% of jobs don't give two shits whether you have a degree or not & in whatever topic. They care about whether you're knowledgeable in the specific field & can do the job well while making them money. A degree requirement is primarily just a way to try to ensure that an applicant has a certain level of intelligence, work ethic, & professionalism. That's all. But what's worse, Colleges/Universities artificially impose degree restrictions for working at those same Colleges/Universities. For example -- You MUST have at least a Master's degree in order to be considered & hired as a Faculty member at KSU. It doesn't matter if you have 35+ years of experience, are universally considered the world's most renowned expert in a specific field or topic, or were personally recommended by the President of the United States. You will NEVER be hired here as a faculty member unless you got that piece of paper proving you "did your time." Lastly, staff employees here are thought of & treated like bottom-of-the-barrel garbage high school-aged trash working part-time jobs. They're overworked, highly scrutinized, underpaid, & unrecognized. Despite doing a majority of the work. Our HR department doesn’t care about what’s best for the employees and their mental/emotional well-being. They only care about protecting the university, it’s assets, and its profits above all else. KSU employees are artificially prevented from being exceptional employees. We’re advised against going above and beyond, doing exceptional work, or try to better the university. That’s not a part of your job description (Hey, they have to show “Growth” somehow in OneUSG. Not like KSU could pay you for these kinds of employees anyway). Furthermore, KSU has no promotional structure. The job you accepted and were hired into is the same exact one you’ll have until the day you die, apply to a different department, or leave. Even * IF * you were to hit tenure, you'd only get 10% of your highest earning salary every year for the rest of your life once you hit retirement age (67). For staff, this is roughly $350 p/ month in retirement benefits. Faculty, on the other hand, are treated like G.D. divine royalty solely because they make colleges/university’s money & earn them prestige. Want to guess what we get when retiring? A cheap paper certificate and a $5 gift card to our university bookstore. …Woohoo… In recent years, under President Pamela Whitten, KSU got rid of numerous essential support departments and significantly cut back on student and employee events and activities. Did I mention her salary was in the $500,000.00’s? Seriously, Don’t go here! Sincerely, a forgotten about and disgruntled employee who KSU wouldn’t bother to give a single F’ about and would probably love to immediately sue into the ground for having any constructive opinion or critique other than an absolutely glowing positive one. - _ -

i def think u should go bc the academics and resources are there . i think this school is a great university , just at times it is very unorganized and expensive in a sense for on campus housing and the meal plan
simoneninah yea so when u get your bill from kennesaw , it’ll only have your tuition and meal plan costs on there . When you are ready to pay for your housing you have to go onto the housing portal, and that is where you make your payment . But if you don’t have enough to pay it in full all you have to do is email housing and say that you would like to set up a housing plan and they’ll create one based on your financial aid . But if you don’t contact them and ask you’ll be expected to pay it in full . All your financial aid will be automatically applied to your account after school is started . This is where you have the option to use your refund toward housing or keep it. Hope I helped 😭

I was number 17 and I got a room quickly! I needed up getting a bunk room but one of my roommates traded with me so I could have my own. They only do it on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s so look out for it.

to be fair, renting in the area is about 1k/month so 4k/semester housing + food is actually reasonable
u could find a apartment in the area and split the rent so itll be at most 500$.
