MP is the child of the M3 & the M6. It will make you think before you press the shutter, I promise you that. Just one piece of advice, stick to just one or at most just two lenses. That is the only way to get the best out of yourself and this amazing tool for pure photography. Enjoy the camera.
Thanks! Will stick to my 35mm always as it is my favorite focal length and I’ve used it a lot on the M9 & M10 - also buying more lenses for the Leica will make me absolut poor 😅
To be honest, the colour in the video looks a lot better than in the photographs. But I agree, the MP is a beautiful camera, both functionally and aesthetically. Enjoy.
Enjoy! And thanks for taking us on your journey. Loved the vid and images. Don’t let the ones who want to rape people of any joy get in your head. Really bizarre comments posted.
Of course the Leica lenses are incredibly good... But the feel of the camera is the same with any other lens too! Just be aware of the fact that you might ending buying a Leica lens anyway 😂
Ah ich fühl dich.. ich hatte seit April eine M6 von 1987, die ich leider wegen light leaks zurückgeben musste. Nun hab ich mir HEUTE eine MP von 2021 geholt🥹
Lovely video, but I have to point out that the 2 things that create an image (on film) is the lens and the film stock. “Photos taken on this film camera look like this”, bro it’s literally a black box (albeit a super sexy one), it’s videos like this that are misleading to newcomers to film photography, would appreciate that you give more credit to the lens. Nevertheless, very happy for you achieving your dream setup, cheers :)
Hey there! Absolut agree! Lens, film, the way you scan (massive point)…and of course the Leica lenses are incredibly good! I also commented here or on a different video that I love the nuritsu scanner rather then the mostly used frontier from fuji…that’s why my pictures have this slight green tick to them ;)
The Leica MP is worth every € I think (got myself a silver version two years ago), because its so small and the since the rangefinder system has less camera body shake when you need to hold it very still I always prefer it over my SLRs. A little something on the side.....why does every Leica/Film photographer have to wear a fishermans beanie and use Lo-Fi hip hop beats as a background music. Of course Im thinking: You do You but I am just so tired of this look and feel which feels like a copy/paste version of any other photographer RUclipsr. Look at Jamie Windsor or Samuel Streetlife. They are doing their own thing. I dont want to hurt you but I think that Im not alone with those thoughts (also regarding lots of other content creators). I always think to myself: It would be even better if there was less of a professional feeling to it, since it would be more raw and therefore more personal.

Hey Angus, I get my film scannend - ive tried multiple labs as well in England / London as in Germany. My FilmLab of choice right now is the "UrbanFilmLab" in Kleve, Germany and they also have an "Noritsu" Scanner, which is a bit different then a "Fuji Frontier" that most Labs uses these days. That's why you also probably think that the colour tone is a bit off...it comes from the scanning process and it is the typical "Noritsu" Look which I personally love ;) (You can find a few videos about the scanner here on RUclips) Hope that can help ;)
@@nielsfreidel Thanks for your response. i am in hong kong and not much choice here locally. i hardly got a "Noritsu" lab but the quality is so-so compare to what i have tried a prolab in US. it is quite discourage for me to use film.
What an awesome camera! I am having the exact same dilemma as you were having. :) I want to buy the Leica M-A. Still trying to justify the purchase - should I go ahead and buy it, or should I spend much less and buy the new MINT Rollei AF? On the other hand, I want to get a camera for a lifetime, something I will hand down to my son. Not sure about the Rollei's longevity...
Hey Adam, Thanks for your comment! I would definitely go for a Leica if you can - is a bit like a Rolex, they cost more, but you don't really lose that much value in the long run. Especially if you decide, that you dont want to keep it in the end.
Congrats on your MP! Mine also arrived last week (second hand, but good condition with CLA a few years ago) and now I have time to put a roll through it :) Also mine in silver chrome really looks great next to my M3 :) Did you purchase your MP before the price increase? Man nice shots! I’m also contemplating on getting the MP or M11p. Same thoughts regarding the slowing down process. I’m currently shooting my Canon FTb and been experimenting different film stocks. On your first 2 rolls of portraits, did you meter them to overexpose of with correct exposure? Thanks man! Cheers!
Its amazing how this manuell focusing end everything makes you be more present - and not just taking shot by shot digital all the time... i usually expose correct with the MP and other cameras - the Portra400 roll was accidentally over exposed one step because I forgot to move the ISO dial :D turned out to be really nice! (its mostly the shoots at the end)

Thank you!! for the first two rolls I think they are ok...but look forward if I have a bit more experience with it... Also great stuff on your channel!
Had the same thoughts before pulling the trigger. Never since regretted. This is a fantastic piece of gear that itself inspires to shoot. Once you get used to it and controls become second nature and you get used to a paired lens, know the film latitude it becomes a neurosurgery instrument shredding perfect shots way faster then any digital camera (non-M, though). This is THE ONE camera to take with you that never fails.
What did you use to scan the film and were the pictures processed in something like Lightroom afterwards? I all because I'm a Leica shooter myself and I often use Portra but my pictures don't come out so sharp unless I process them in an image manipulation program.
@@NoosaHeads i`ve used a very special manipulation technique and it's called "focus pulling" jokes aside, sorry for reacting a bit pitted, the amount if hate on this video is insane...so, I mainly shot at 100/s or 250 max, then I adjust the aperture to that, so most of the sunny pictures were taken at aperture 11 or sometimes even higher...then of course the pictures with that summicron 35mm lens get extremely sharp (thanks to this beautiful lens). If you have a look at the pictures taken in the museum (starting at 8:44) in darker situations you will realize that the pictures are not as sharp as the ones before. I don´t edit or sharpen the pictures in Lightroom (from my experience Lightroom not making the picture quality better - even if you keep the same size / file etc...but thats down to personal preference), sometimes on certain pictures I do a tiny edit in photoshop in the camera raw filter: I pull for example the middle tones or dark tones a bit down, as my lab scans them nearly perfect but also leaves them a bit flatter so I have more adjust possibilities afterwards. last but not least: my scans are made with a Noritsu scanner, not with an Frontier (FUJI) which most labs use...thats why the colors are more greenish and the scanner is also a bit sharper...again, down to my own taste and the experience I made over the years and the "style" I like! hope that could help!
