    1972 #113 FLH 98ci shovelhead stroker motor rebuild Harley by tatro machine
    see how to rebuild a Harley hotrod shovelhead stroker motor with very few new parts.
    the motor ran out of oil from a big oil leak and locked up. need to fixed the motor for the summer and then fix it right over the winter.
    I bet it runs good for a few years because of the way I fix things.

    Thanks for not whizzing everything together with power tools. refreshing to see how it should be done. did see the butterfly pneumatic in use earlier. love those!

    A lot of shops would’ve just bolted this together. The side loading on the piston would have been excessive not to mention everything else. This is why having an engine assembled by a real builder cost what it does and it’s always worth the $$$ to have it done correctly. Thanks Tatro.

    I was wondering about a shim on the timken side of the crank and that is exactly what you did, didn't know if it was kosher. It seems like some days, nothing wants to cooperate.

    how do you feel about using stainless steel hardware to hold the cases together?

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  6 лет назад +2

      never. all stainless does is expand when heated and not let you get the tatro tightening like i like.

    Sir people keep buying the S & S engines and i too am going with a S & S panhead 93 am I wasting my time now and should not buy it or what? I am new to bikes but have ridden all my lie and now i am going to get serious about building them. Your videos are getting me started on learning. Please tell what to do here i really really want one they have made great stuff for so long help

      no one manufacturer makes all good part and s&s is no different. i mix and match the parts i use to make the best mousetrap i can for the application. most shops buy complete parts like motors because they do not know how to do their own work or have the tools you need to do it. when i can't get what i want i just have it custom made or make it myself. i am picky so i usually just do it myself.

      i don't like the s&s cases because they are made to thin now and they have that crank sensor boss. the other problem is that the right hand main bearing boss casting breaks off inside the case and goes thru the motor. doesn't help any on supporting the case race either. ultima makes a good case and should have the machining down by now. they don't look like harley cases but they are strong. the price is good too.
