Glad your doing this series again, the last series I found really helpful in my own play-through but would of liked to see what tips you would have for the later stage of the game you never got to.
I love this game 🎮, I like that your the one that has experience in the beginning and this is only 4 years ago, I subscribed and going to watch this playlist 👍🏼
So do you combine things like 2D and 3D graphics packs together? Isn't that seriously expensive? I've made some near perfect games but what I do is whenever new graphics come through, I research it and a few new things and then build a new engine, then ditch the old graphics.
I normally don't combine the two, but during that period where 3d graphics is newer and inferior to 2d, you need to decide which way you're going to pivot so adding both to the engine gives you flexibility. Beyond that, I would absolutely not bother with going down both tracks as not only do you need to split your attention between them, it would cost a lot of money and a lot of RP to research the next level of each. I'm not saying it isn't doable, but it isn't economically feasible.
How can the game say that fashion and simulation is "a great combo" when it's literally your first game and your character hasn't done a post-game analysis yet? Likewise with all info on what genres work or don't work on PC/G64. That info normally only becomes available after you discover it through post-game analysis
I enabled hints, so on a past play-through, I discovered that combo. I've played this game enough that I'd have that meta knowledge anyway, so enabling the hints allows the viewers to see what I already know. Hints by themselves won't win you the game, however and it is still worth the time to generate game reports as they earn you extra bubbles of research.
Is Dragon a topic you can pick on this game, I heard there was a update with new topics according to this video and I hope it's a option, I know dragons would be in the fantasy topic but I wish it would be separate from the regular topic that suggest it could be in there. I don't actually have the game yet but I'm planning on getting it and Dragons is one topic I'm hoping will be in this one with the new updates.
There wasn't a "Dragon" topic at the time this series was recorded, but they may have added one after. I know there are tons of mods out there that can add topics. I also, if memory serves, make a Dragon-based game under the "Dungeon" topic later in this series.
I was *very* close to doing that. My reasoning for not is that I wouldn't have the research to get a new topic if I did and would have been forced to use crime before I had audience preference available to toggle. Though you make a very good point about getting enough for a new topic anyway. Point conceded :)
@@Pinstar In retrospect, it's not a factor as you know how to trigger the smash hit and I don't. Since you're not using features yet, engine timing probably isn't a big efficiency gain.
The smash hit can be triggered with as little as JUST 2dgraphics V2 if your topic selection favors it. However, building in bells and whistles into the engine opens up the ability to trigger the smash hit on one of the early consoles which can amplify your huge glut of sales due to market share. You just need to fight back against the natural penalties that both the TES and the Master V bring with them.
Thx for the new content on this game. That said you could have made at least half a mill on your first game if you did the sliders right. Just a tip for actually making money in this game.

LOVE this game. Fantastic series. Night off = binge-watching. :D
This is super helpful and enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for doing an update!
Picked it up for Android. Enjoyed the beta and launch versions but I've forgotten a lot of the basic tips for success.
Yesss this game a thousand times yes!

I can't help imagining a dancing simulator on a PC being like an extended version of the ball mini-game in Sid Meier's Pirates.
Oooh a good call there!

@@Pinstar As soon as 3D comes out thats all I focus on, basically using the best that's available at the time, rather than older tech.

I didn't know that option existed.
Thanks for the reply!

love this thank you
"Yeah, hey, colonization"
Lets build this game Empire shall we? Cheers!
hopefully more ethical than ea and activision
Hopefully better than Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft and Google and Apple and Samsung
Should have researched game tutorials, then made your engine. You'd have gotten enough research points to do a new topic.

Reemis Merc what's wrong on those sliders? +++ max ++ half
What always cracked me up with target audience is when its great for "Everyone", but then bad for "Young" or "Mature"
I hate this game so much THERE IS LIKE NO POSSIBLE WAY TO DO GOOD
