As someone who bought this game on release, let me just say that everyone on the team did such an incredible job with this game. It has always seemed impossible to me that this game didn’t get more recognition. It was my GOTY for 2017 and continues to be one of my favorite games of all time. Hopefully a sequel can be made someday with the original team. Thank you for creating what in my opinion is a perfect game.
@@chrisgerhard4425 the whole Arkane Studio team had their hearts in the game. We were able to achieve a lot with such a small team. It's amazing that there are still developers building new mods and features. I love this!
The remaster we never got 😢Since Prey is my favorite game of all time, I might as well replay it with the mod and now that I have a proper HDR screen too.
Dude insane, I was just trying to get it to run in HDR with reshade these days and simply couldn't do it alone, this is amazing! Thank you. DLSS is also more than welcome, since getting 120fps at 4K wasn't as easy as I hoped. Wow even DLSS perf looks sharp. Impressive new AO and SSR too! 10/10 fantastic work
RUclips's HDR tonemapper is doing very good work here. As even though I'm quite sensitive to color, contrast and such, I see no discernable difference between the SDR and HDR shots. I'm watching this on a Samsung galaxy tab s7. Which technically supports HDR content. RUclips is letting me watch it in HDR, but the screens brightness means there is no rl difference.
This is actually a really really good way to show people who aren't in the know what HDR is actually supposed to look like. Ive gotten the feeling HDR implementations on PC and games is usually faulty and Auto/RTX HDR so talked about that people think HDR just = bright.
yes still very misunderstood tech. sadly many monitors and TVs have poor HDR just to have it for the spec sheet marketing, and ppl then confuse bad displays with HDR itself being poor
It should because I think they showed a scene from it (the one with the shuttle). Also, the DLC is really good! I personally enjoyed it a lot and was terrified due to the random nature of it.
I was a fan of prey in many ways and finished it but I wasnt a huge fan of alot of the mimics character designs or their animations and cheap 'monster closet' attacks. I've got to say though, it's nice to not see boiling textures from denoising algorithms being too heavy for even the most powerful gpus. I'm still a fan of rasterized graphics when done properly, especially with a kickass art style. if you caught the sony ps5pro hardware brief by Cerny you'd also notice he basically said that denoising still sucks haha. I'm happy waiting for the hardware to mature for path/ray tracing and have had every top end card since the first voodoo card but it feels like were in a graphics technology shift that is taking way too long to iron itself out and im after spending way too much money on pc parts. I just built a new pc and left my 4090 in it waiting for blackwell but I honestly do not see things getting any better for at least another 3 nvidia architecture launches. Especially when most of the industry has moved to ue5 which came out a decade too soon with wild scope creep trying to cater to offline and realtime rendering projects. Shit are they going to keep going from version 5.5 to 6.0 by next year? Lumen and Nanite are horribly inefficient, just look at any current gen console game built on the tech. Sony were forced to release the pro and pass the cost of the hardware design of their upscaler to consumers. The digital ps5 and ps5pro are exactly double the price of each other right now in canada. If you add in the out of stock bdrom drives then it's well over double the cost and I still see graphical artifacts that a 3060 would have no trouble rendering. I'm so sick of laggy textures that boil for the sake of 'ray tracing', I cant even look at Alan Wake 2 on pc without being sickened by shoddy artifacting when in motion. Same with snowdrop engine, outlaws was a smear fest. It looked like my wife cleaned my oled with a bottle of grease. The new idtech looks the same as well. Three generations into the ray tracing era and denoising artifacts are everywhere to the point where everything looks like a blotchy fluid.
This looks incredible. I'm torn between desperately wanting to try this out in my currently-running playthrough, and concerns about whether I'll be able to capture it in 4K at an acceptable frame rate when I'm already riding the edge of 60 FPS. Hopefully DLSS will help with that, gonna have to try this out for sure!
I still don't think HDR does much of anything. Looking at them back to back they look so barely different in brightness and contrast I'd never notice. Both on my phone that supports up to 1700nits and my monitor up to 1200 looked about the same to me. I will say it looked more distinct than most true HDR content which to me always looks exactly identical or they just dim the entire screen to increase contrast, but still don't think I'd ever want it. I don't get why everyone makes such a big deal out of it. I mean I quite literally spent $1800 on a monitor to have the best HDR and it looks nearly indistinguishable from SDR with tone mapping. Some games I've even noticed it being objectively less accurate to creative intent where in FF7 Remake the menus turn grey. Like we all know the entire Final Fantasy series uses blue menus.
I love everything about this! -Former Prey developer
Wait, I'm also a former Prey developer 🫂
Want to make PREY 2 this weekend?
Prey is an amazing gem of a game, thank you for your work.

You should upload more videos. This was a great one. Very high quality

Holy shit dude. Having to prioritise replaying Prey was not on my already bonkers 2024 bingo card lmao. Fantastic vid showcasing a fantastic mod.
Thanks for the update!

I played no part in the development other than testing and making this video, all props go to Pumbo and Ersh

Great showcase, glad this game is getting love/updates gonna have to replay some day :>
thank you for the amazing work! prey rocks!
Amazing work! Going to have to reinstall and revisit the game soon. Wish the same could be done for Alien Isolation.

Amazing video. I will play Prey in 2025, thank you for this video. Game looks amazing.
Come to thnk of it - I never did play that rather acclaimed Mooncrash DLC... I better check if this is compatible with that too!
It should because I think they showed a scene from it (the one with the shuttle). Also, the DLC is really good! I personally enjoyed it a lot and was terrified due to the random nature of it.
Спасибо за проделанную работу))
WOOOOOW, thank you!
Such good content!
Thanks for the great vid. HDR support is really long overdue for Firefox...
Awesome work bro!
Incredible work. Great job guys!
Спасибо вам и случайной рекомендации за то, что я узнал о существовании данного улучшения!
Damn you guys have been busy. Nice work on the video and nice work on the mod 😊
really cool! I just played the game again reciently tho, but i'll remember this if i want to go back! 🔥
ETA of mod publishing on Nexus? I'm currently halfway through Prey again, would love to check this out on my OLED!

I don't own an HDR display so it's dark but will be taking a look at this mod.

which effects and addons should i select while installing reshade 6.3.3? its unclear
None. The mod is a separate addon, it's not in the pre made list from ReShade installer.
I love pc gaming ❤
playing prey 2017 is worth it
Incorrect link? It says the mod hasn't been published yet.

Does this allow taa/dlss off completely? even dlaa produces a blurry flat image
yes
Now do a HDR mod for Wukong 😭😭
My only gripe with this game was it's terrible T2X SMAA antialiasing implantation. And after years, it's finally been addressed!!!!

What about playstation?
There are differences but let’s be real here, it’s so minimal compared to the original.
You don't need this mod if you already have a capable system with a real HDR display.
What?
